jwla's Sprite thread

When I was on here with my last username, seemingly ages ago, I did do some spriting. I did some Eevee-lutions and whatnot. Now, I plan to sprite again. This is just a small one, and it doesn't have a name yet. It's based on a drawing I did of a quail Pokemon. It's a heavily edited Mukkuru sprite, with some Politoed on the top. It's eyes are weird to me, let me know what you think.

Both quails here, no name so far. Now, to unveil my death's head moth. I call it Harbroth and it's the Harbringer Pokemon. It is Bug/Dark. Here it is:

I used Venomoth's body and legs, Garmeil's head and antennae (for the shape), and Houndour's skull. The body is fairy edited, and the legs left me stumped. I tried some scratch, but, they didn't work out too well. I made the probiscus from scratch, and well as the eyes. The antennae are edited for a certain look that's tough to capture while spriting. The wings, thought similar to Butterfree's are totally scratch. They need some work, I think. I was tough, because I wanted Harbroth to be black, and that sets a restriction for shading if you don't want to go too light. Let me know what you think.

Pik-eeeooow!
That's your fakemon right-o? Well, yes, it's eyes appear awkward to me, like something gross and funny happened and it's making big eyes because it's well... about to laugh. If you have time I suggest you to fix it. And it's body appears to be kinda like it's its whole face because of the eyes. Just fix the eyes and it's be all right. Also, try and not use all black outline on the feet. Correct me if I am wrong on anything, but then again it's a very good edit, good job.

Yes, it is a fakemon. Yeah, the eyes are, well, odd. The were outlined in a dark color, but, it was stark. I don't know. I did forget to edit the feet XP Mukkuru's were like that. Must've left them...heh. Thanks for the criticisms! Love to hear the way it can work better. Thanks again! :)

I really like it :D The eyes are a little strange, but they're not that bad. I like the colours you've used. Overall, I think that theres a few little bits that could maybe do with editing. A big well done!

Thanks, everyone. I did some changes, so it would match a real quail, which have dark bands around the eyes. I used a little more brown, too, in the chest coloring. Let me know which you like better.

I drew a cool Death's Head Moth Pokemon, and I am going to try turning it into a sprite. It may take a ton of work, though.

Here's an update! Everything about this Pokemon is listed in the first post. It's kinda small, and wonky. I am not much of a scratch spriter. There are scratch parts...

Here's another one. I am an insomniac lately, so expect more this time of night!
It's a platypus Pokemon. People say Psyduck is a platypus, it is not! This is a platypus. I used Psyduck's head, Bippa's body, Biidaru's tail and scratched eyes similar to Farfetch'd! Here it is.

I can see the mukkuruku or whatever it's called in the bird. Fakemon are supposed to be completely scratch. =/

Though I have a naysayer, I enjoy using parts in my fakemon. The above is a panda. I call it Pandervish. It evolves from Spinda, and is classified as the Spin Panda Pokemon. Most of the parts are "found" parts. Notably the arms, legs and mouth. The rest is scratch. I wanted to do a Pandervish that looked as it if was twirling, but, I didn't manage.

I like the 2nd quail much better, and the venomoth thing needs 1 more shade on the skull thing.

???

C Spriter
I raise quail & that looks like a bobwhite quail & they have a white breast. also the black markings are light brown on the females. o.k. on the shadeing add highlights. ^_^
