Alot of people don't like his artwork, but I like it alot! From his pokemon designs to his human characters I think he pulls off the world of pokemon perfectly^^
what do you think of his artwork? any fav. pics you like by him? any pics you hate? (I know you can see pretty much his entire gallery at pokebeach but for some reason it's being all wonky on me, anyone else know of any sites that showcase his gallery?^^)
discuss!

back.
It's very good. His artwork has improved on the trainers, especially.

my guess is promotional art for gold and silver based on the hero from those games being there, I've seen it as a poster in some pokemon guide book...can't remember which book for the life of me though^^;

yes he's been the most prolific card and sprite artist in pokemon for a decade and i can see why, he makes pokemon more appealing through his drawings, and best of all theyre smooth, not stagnant like other artists or CGI, which is ok but so fake looking

Since when do "lots" of people hate it? I think it's very well done. It's fresh and clean and nice to look at.

Yeah, ok!
Do I really need to comment? I love his style, the guy never fails to impress me. It's easy to see why people love the guy, he owns.

Hehe that art's from that Pokemon Garden site. I was gonna swipe it myself, actually.

I am a massive fan of Sugimori art. I never understand when people say they don't like it because it's too generic or something. The 'official' art has to be in that way, and it's always nice when he makes art like this just to prove he's as capable of amazing stuff outside of stock-like images. Stock-like images aren't easy, either. Sugimori is great, to make it short. 'v'

Who the hell would hate his art? The guy's a genius! His art's beautiful and, as someone mentioned, way better than the sprites. It shows me what Pokemon really look like, sinc the sprites don't do a very good job of that.

Btw, that wallpaper is awesome!

His work is magnificent. Where do yuo get off saying everyone hates it?

Anyways, that particular picture is awesome. *snags as background*

If I may ask, where did you fine that picture?

Hey, i've got that picture in my Pokedex-collector's edition strategy guide. 'tis awesome. :D
I'm particularly fond of his digitally coloured Pokemon... I wish I could find non-watercolour Johto art. His people are usually pretty cool, i'm not keen on the Shinou NPCs so far, though. I love his Pokemon anime designs, especially. I can't stand Ash's face, but he looks cool when Sugi-fied.

I'm not sure how crash-hot he is with stories, but i'd love to see a non-Pokemon manga done by him. That would be totally awesome. :D

Sugimori's great. ^^ He's improved so much since the early days. His official art tops all the other "official" art by far...(although even I must admit that the other "official" art IS improving. It's just that the early stuff was so ugly.)

Sugimori's art is awesome. Anyone that doesn't appreciates it isn't a true Pokéfan. Albeit simplistic (And in terms of design, Pokémon overall is fairly simplistic as a whole.), it's very nice-looking and stylish. Plus, he always makes interesting standalone pics for both Trainers and Pokémon, as well as concept art.

I think his only flunk was when he redrew the Kanto Pokés and a handful of 2nd Gen Pokés for FR/LG, for he used only generic poses for the most part, instead of making all standalones awfully awesome in terms of pose, as it was for 1st Gen's showcase. Still, he managed and even imporved a few, as well as making them colorful.

All in all, Sugimori is a great artist and always impresses me with his work. :D
