I personally thought this episode was meh at best.

For a title with 'vs' in it, the actual battle itself only lasted like two or three minutes, which was disappointing, but it was still fun to watch with the tactics used by the trainers (minus attract). Other than that, the episode was pretty much standard affair we've all seen before, but I thought it was adorable when the children interacted with the Pokémon. Couldn't resist cute feels.

I just saw this episode and I didn't see anything in it that made Ash the one that looked like garbage to me. It reminds me of one of those regular preschool episodes.

I just finished watching the episode yesterday and my initial thoughts was simply, Sylveon vs Froakie battle was good that it did better compared to the battle that occured in XY 012. I'm not even going to bother mentioning that "tease" for the sake of SatoSere supporters. Am I the only one who was having fun watching this. There are three scenes that made me laugh a bit. Also, I love watching Satoshi having his heroics 6 episodes straight! Big ups to him! It was good for a filler.

Something that got under my skin this episode was Ash, once again, being shilled heavily. Ash's friends being useless while he has his big hero moment, they did that already in the last two episode. Would it kill anyone if, God forbid, Serena and her Fennekin save the day for once or at least get to try?

Honestly, the target audience likely doesn't care the shipping that moment. Just older fans who take the hype at facevalue and watch for it, they have no one to blame but themselves.

And I don't consider Premiere Sylveon weak.

I'm completely fine with Ash losing, but i have always considered it unfair that if Attract hits, the Pokemon is basically confirmed to faint.

It sucks.

I'd rather see it go 50/50 on whether the Pokemon can snap out of it, like Ash and Sceptile against Darkrai.

it's obvious form the looks of the sylveon, that premier's pokemon is not an ordinary one since it already has moonblast which is a powerful fairy attack

I wasn't expecting Ash to win against a fairy type at first since it is the signature region for it. I rather that than his lost in the bug gym.

Well this episode was wasted potential. For one we had the chance to get a more ship focused episode with Serena talking to Premiere about Ash, more flashbacks, and some reasons why she likes Ash. Second option more Froakie time. Two straight losses in a row isn't exactly good, so this episode could have focused on Froakie wanting to become stronger so he did not become a burden to Ash much like the case with his other trainers. So Ash promises to help him train and does so in future episodes. This would make his eventual loss to his evolved form more impactful and may cause Froakie to consider leaving Ash because he feels he is a burden, not to be confused with the abandoned pokemon trope. Third option would be a Premiere episode where she talks about how she met her pokemon and her goals which would be good all around character development in Clemont's and Serena's part since they might be able to relate, hell maybe even Bonnie could have some too. Then there would have been a chance Premiere could have been more than just a COTD, which unfortunately she is now. Off topic: They actually implemented the game rule where if you have eye contact with another trainer you have to battle.

top 16 in his first league,top 8 in jhoto hoenn and unova leagues. top 4 in sinnoh, OI league winner, Battle Frontier champion. hes not a garbage trainer

the one thing i didnt like was that ash lost to attract, he used the move multiple times and knows what it does

maybe he only forget what attract does to the pokemon?
