'king team

for fun. just playing around with a few ideas for individual pogeys, and then realised that they were all fitting this regal theme. feel free to pick apart. can't be bothered with evs at the moment.

Slaking@Choice Band
Trait:Truant
Nature:Adamant
-Return
-Focus Punch
-Shadow Ball
-Earthquake

the powerhouse and linchpin in a team of UU water nobodies. it is tempting to put lum berry on him purely for the surprise factor of using two different moves in succession and to deal with potential burns. but i'm not too hot with damage calculations: would it be obvious from the damage taken that he wasn't CB'd?
it's just i can imagine a lot of fun to be had if i went for a focus punch on a gengar switchin, and then proceeded to maim it with shadowball the next turn *shrugs*

Nidoking@Leftovers
Trait:poison Point
Nature:Lonely
-Sludge Bomb
-Earthquake
-Thunderbolt
-Ice Beam

all-round cool poke. vast movepool should, to an extent, help deal with some of the rest of this team's obvious weaknesses

Slowking@Leftovers
Trait:Own Tempo
Nature:Calm
-Calm Mind
-Thunder Wave
-Psychic
-Rest

tank-like. slowbro is obviously loads better at this sort of thing.

Kingdra@Leftovers
Trait:Swift Swim
Nature:Timid
-Rain Dance
-Dragonbreath
-Hydro Pump
-Toxic

uhm. RD and get the hell out of there. DB for type coverage. possible strat: somehow fluke a switchin, RD while they switch, switch to Nido to eat the likely bolt, then switch to this for a speedy "sweep"

Seaking@Leftovers
Trait:Swift Swim
Nature:Adamant
-Rain Dance
-Double-Edge
-Megahorn
-HP Ground

hopefully will do enough in however many turns of rain it gets ppassed to do something.

Kingler@Salac Berry
Trait:Hyper Cutter
Nature:Jolly [/Hasty?]
-Substitute
-Flail
-Crabhammer
-Swords Dance/HP Ghost/Knock off?

he's cool. a crabhammer in the rain might be useful once in a while.
he deserves to at the very least get Crush Claw or something :(

meh. it's a pretty crappy team after the first three [first two, or one, if you're feeling exceptionally harsh]
i'm debating putting a roaring nidoqueen on, i guess over 'king for a bit more all-round defence and phazing goodness.
but yeah, i was bored and felt like postiing a team that was a bit different. it's just a shame there aren't any more 'regal' pokemon that i could use to replace some of this team for.

basically this team is to get ideas on the Nido's, Kingler, and the strange Slaking item idea.
also on the subject of Slaking:
is max speed that necessary ingame, for battle tower and the like? or would i feel the benefits of putting some EVs into HP and/or Defense?

Slaking is a hit-and-run kind of pokemon, which means he hits hard on his moving turn and runs the sleeping turn and CB helps. BTW,I don't think the AI will be switching in anything.

I would use Rash.

Surf over thunder wave or rest.

lol Timid is pointless on RD Kingdra, its min speed with a modest nature is 206 which is more than enough to outrun aero and co after a RD. Use Modest so you actually do some decent damage.

I would use Hydro Pump or Surf over Rain Dance and stick a CB on it.BTW,are you sure it has HP ground? What power is it? if it doesn't, I'm free to say that I hate when people stick the 'good' hidden powe ron just to look good and they don't even truly have it.

Swords Dance>Crabhammer. Surf/Mud Shot/proposed hp ghost on the last slot. Use Naive if you are running a water move, jolly if not.

Just make sure it can outrun max 70's (240) or neutral max 85's(270). The speeds iparenthesis are the speeds you need to outrun the base speeds listed.

Leave out Focus Punch on Slaking, if you don't have Substitute to back it up.
Nidoking is better off if it sin't a bolt-beamer. Leave that to the Psychic pokemon, such as Latios/Latias and a few others.
Kingler's Sp. Atk sucks. No water moves for him, even though they gain STAB.

1. IN NB, you focus punch the switch. In-game, they rarely switch. Also, substitute slaking is LMAO tbh, they will break teh sub on truant turn.
2. Nidoking has decent SAttk and can surprise, but you can use the CBone too.
3. They are mainly for stuff that resists flail.

and i'm likely to get RD boosts for crabhammer every so often.
i'm posting Hidden Powers and discussing NB strategies because i'll probably end up using some of these duders in linkbattles or on NB. but there's no point in posting mono or theme teams in the competitive forum. and besides, i always post teams before i actually start working on them, rather than getting annoyed because all my work on a particular moveset has been wasted. does the AI not even switch in the battle tower or places like that?

and do i really need all those surfs? i may use a CB Seaking with rain support, that actually sounds like fun. although that's gonna need a lot of setup.
