At first the world was nothing. A blank canvas that contained not even a spec of life. Then, out of the blue, The Creator planted a seed. This seed, soon sprouted into an empty world with nothing but barren wasteland. The Creator sought to paint this canvas to his liking, and dropped another seed into the wasteland, this time sprouting a monstrous tree. This tree grew a fruit, containing the first life forms to inhabit this world. After that, the tree grew more fruit, each containing different life forms, including humans. Then, one day the tree grew its final fruit. This fruit however, was tainted. The tainted fruit fell from the tree and to the world below, and gave birth to the beasts that plague our world. Feasting on our children, and spilling blood on the soil, that is the sole purpose of the beasts that roam our earth. Since the beginning of mankind, we have been constantly tested. In fact, we are still being tested. Tested on whether or not we have the drive and the will to stay in this world.

- Mother Seena

| The World |

Nestled in a hill surrounded valley, Glynstone is a small town where lawfulness, peace and order are highly emphasized. Dreary, dark, and often cold, Glynstone is essentially in the middle of nowhere, and there aren’t many travellers that find their way to Glynstone, let alone move here willingly. The town chief, Griswald, rules the town with an iron fist. Nothing happens without his permission, and many people would rather eat dirt than get on his bad side. His first most goal is to maintain a sense of order in his town, and he will do that by any means necessary. Stoning citizens, hanging no-gooders, if you do anything to disrupt the town he will make you pay. If it wasn’t for the fact that the outer world is dwelling with man-eating beasts, many of the citizens would have moved out already in search of a non cult-like city.

Life in Gylnstone can be boring, tiresome and monotonous. Many citizens do the same thing day in and day out, without much change in their schedules. Jobs include selling wares, labor jobs, etc. Griswald’s forces all citizens to pay a tax every week, and failure to do so often results in physical punishment. Repeat offences can sometimes result in something worse than just a physical beating. Punishments can include lashes, dunking, beating, drowning, hanging, and sometimes banishment without any weapons to defend one’s self for the outer world.

Because of the location, Griswald sometimes does various things to ‘fix’ his problems according to his own ways. Once in a while, anytime he feels the population of Glynstone is too high, he will hold a lottery to determine who to get rid of. The methods of picking usually changes and is determined up to him, but generally you can pay your way out of a scary fate. The second method, is one he uses often, and generally does not involve anyone being killed, or at least, very little. Utilizing his own lottery system once again, Griswald picks numerous citizens, and sends them off outside the safety of the town and into the wilderness. Out here, the citizens are required to bring back beasts they have hunted, and eat them as food for the city (as well as any other large animals).

All in all, its safe to say that Glynstone is not a pleasant place to live. It’s a dog eat dog world, where every man thinks only for himself, and is full of backstabbers. It’s hard to find loyal people who won’t back out anytime Griswald and the authorities show up at your doorstep, so bewarned.

| Religion & Grand Arts |

Liaism, is the main path of faith in this town. The Liation Church is a place nearly every single citizen goes to, as per Griswald’s orders. Here, Mother Seena and her disciples often recite verses from the holy book, and tell the stories within it. Only those who are apart of the church are allowed to read from the scriptures, as well as any book located in the Church’s library. Essentially, the faith believes in The Creator, and the Creation Tree, and almost everyone in the town has been brought up in this faith. Some follow it more than others.

Those who are active and apart of the church, have access to the scriptures that allow for the knowledge of Grand Arts. Often volatile in nature, and unpredictable, Grand Arts are forbidden to use as per Griswald’s orders, and is punishable by death. Grand Arts are in a nutshell, act almost like magic to a certain degree. Things such as healing, protection, offense, etc. It takes years to master just one scripture, and thus, can be time consuming.

Mother Seena herself is caring, and nurturing. She often takes care of those who have no real family, or whose family has met some sort of demise. She knows Griswald’s true character, and secretly despises the man, and is one of the few people who is able to get away with snarky remarks at him without punishment. She preaches a lot, and is a mother to all, trying to see good in anything and anyone. She is also one of the few people immune to Griswald’s lotteries and punishments.

Note: Grand Arts is not magic in the sense where there’s energy blasts, or anything crazy. For the most part, they are the simplest forms of magic, spells, etc (maybe a few exceptions here and there). There’s a reason why I am not calling it ‘magic’ in this roleplay.

| The Roleplay Itself + World Information |

This role-play is not really sandbox, as I do have a plot that I intend to stick with. However, that does not mean you don’t have freedom over your actions. For the most part, play like you normally would like a regular roleplay, and if something comes up that you shouldn’t do, I will let you know. For example, your character can be rich, poor, middle class, etc (usually the richer you are, the more influence you have in the town). The role-play does in fact take place in the town of Glynstone, and its not really an exploration role-play (although I do have a plot set in mind to allow for travel outside of Glynstone, for now I highly doubt that the role-play will allow for that. If the role-play gets to that point where people want it to expand, then I will). If anything, characters would be venturing outside the town just into the wilderness areas. I intend for it to be a somewhat shorter roleplay, so that’s my reasoning.

As for weapons, your character will have no real need for them right away, but will acquire them once things settle in. This world timeline is set in around 5-6th century somewhere there, so the weapons available will be according to that timeline (maybe a little exception here and there). If your character does not have some sort permission, they are not generally allowed to carry weapons around as per Griswald’s orders.

As I said before, Grand Arts are not allowed to be used or versed at all for that matter within the town, unless you are a member of the church, or if you are practicing it within the confines of the church. Not every player needs to know any Grand Arts, it’s not a requirement. If your character was some sort of ex-church member, then they still retain the knowledge of the Grand Art, but cannot teach it to anyone (that results in punishment for both parties).

And one more thing: The world outside Glynstone for the most part, is unknown by the citizens. Books in the church library speak of what lies out there, but very few people form the town have ventured as far as actually making any significant discoveries as Griswald doesn’t allow for it.

RP Rules:
1) All forums apply (obviously)
2) Roleplay is rated M, and I’m also gonna throw in a trigger warning here so I don’t get into any sort of trouble. If there’s any of that stuff that bothers you, lemme know (won’t be much if any).
3)The usual combat rules apply. Although this won’t apply to PvP (which, is prolly not gonna happen due to the nature of the roleplay), make sure your character doesn’t overpower every single foe they come across (aka no powerplaying/godmodding). Make it realistic, as physics still apply.
5) Only one character per player.

My Sign-Up:

Name: Garret Bryer

Age: 24

Gender: Male

e4SM9B3.png

Appearance: Garret is a man of average stature, standing at just around 5’10”, and is of average build. His notable traits include his blonde, messy hair, his blue eyes and unusually clean and smooth face, which is generally free from any sort of imperfection such as scarring or pimples or cuts of the sorts. His hands however are callused and often rough, often due to his line of work. Coming from a somewhat lower middle class family, the young man dresses in accordance to what him and his family can afford. Simple brown pants, a tan coloured tunic and a vest on top to keep him a bit warmer on this slightly more nippy days. His shoes are hand me downs from his father, something which he is fine with.

Personality: Garret is a man that would rather blend in than stick out. Especially in a town like Glynstone, where sticking out like a sore thumb is not something you want to do. With that said, his family is not one to shy away from giving help to those in need, despite being weary. They understand the world they live in, and Garret has stuck to those morals. It can be hard to find help, and the Bryer family know this. He is a calm, logical person by nature, and does not get mad over petty things. One could say that he is a bit too understanding or simply gives the benefit of doubt one too many times, and thus could be his demise one day when his guard is let down. However, he firmly believes bad things happen to good people, tries to view things from different perspectives when it comes to certain situations.

He is a lawful person as well. Definitely not to the extent of Gryswald, and certainly does not like his ideals, however, he is a firm believer in following the law to make the town slightly more unpleasant than it already is. He will sometimes go out of his way to give a kind gesture or perform a random act of kindness if he sees fit. He is not a violent person by any means, and will most often avoid confrontations if given the opportunity, willing to walk away and avoid any sort of trouble.

History: Coming from a lower middle class family, the Bryer family consists of himself, his brother Leon, and his younger brother of 5 years. and mother. The men in the family work as carpenters, often coming into town to fix houses, businesses and other buildings, such as leaks, brick-laying, etc. Their father had been doing it his whole life, even before Gryswald came to power, and passed on the tradition to his sons as a family business and means of getting more money for them. There was a specific time in young Garret’s life where money was hard to obtain simply for the fact there was not much work to be found for his father, which resorted to him going out on a hunt, long ago, back when Gryswald would pay those who volunteered themselves. His father did this twice, and the money gave them enough to last a while, until work picked up again, and according to his father, it was not an experience he would have liked to do again. He mentioned the areas right outside the town were tolerable, however, as soon as they entered deeper into the wilderness, it got exceedingly worse.

Luckily, Garret has never been chosen to enter the hunt, and he likes it that way. His father always said that if the situation arises where he must enter, do whatever means necessary to survive. Even if that meant getting punished by Gryswald, its a fate better than being consumed by the beasts that dwell in the outer world. Because of this fear, Garret has always been worried that one day his name may be picked, or worse, his mother or brother or even father again.

As of right now, Garret’s daily consists of waking up in the mornings, and venturing into town in search of work. Seeing what needs fixing, and asking for permission to fix, with a bit of pay of course. Occasionally it can be hard to find work, however, the weather is more often than not in favour of Garret, especially during storm season when carpenters and labourers are in dire need for their work. It is a simple lifestyle, one which Garret enjoys, and prefers it that way. With his father and brother also working, they generally have no problems paying their taxes, and even on the worst of days, still manage to scrape by at least to avoid punishment.

Weapon: An Axe

Other: Nothing else.

REAL DADS

Shampoo Thief
I'd also like to reserve a spot, sounds like a unique plot!

(MEGA WIP but thought I would throw up what I have so far - making a priest character)

Name: Brother Lars

Age: 27

Gender: Male

Appearance: Brother Lars has broad shoulders and a fairly athletic build for a man of the church, finding physical discipline a rewarding form of penance and meditation. He is taller than some, standing at about 5’11. He has shaggy, blond hair that falls just above his bright blue eyes. He has grown a full beard that he keeps somewhat trimmed. He puts very little effort into his appearance, but does wash and groom regularly. His face often seems stoic and contemplative, as if something serious is on his mind. However, when he does smile he appearance warm and welcoming.

Lars dresses modestly, in varying shades of tan, brown, and black. His clothing is light and loose fitting, and pretty standard for a man of the Church. His shoes are simple slip-ons with thin soles that don’t offer much support. He generally carries a messenger bag with him that holds his religious books and other artifacts.

h6zMLbI.png

Personality:
-Pious
-Dedicated
-Nurturing
-Fiercely protective
-Intelligent
-Reserved
-Reverent
-Selfless
-Charismatic
-Lawful Neutral

History: Brother Lars’ parents were young and unmarried when he was conceived. They kept the conception quiet and quickly married to avoid the shame of having a child out of wedlock. Neither of his parents came from wealth or had an education, so money was hard to come by. With the added stress of a child to feed, Brother Lars’ father had to take less-than-lawful approaches in order to secure meals for the family. However, he was no professional thief. He was caught stealing meat from the market. Fortunately, he was caught on a day that Griswald was feeling merciful. Rather than hang him, Griswald only demanded his right hand be cut off. He lived for a few more weeks in agony as his wound festered, until eventually succumbing to the infection. Brother Lars was still a baby, and thus has no memory of his thieving father.

Brother Lars does have foggy memories of his mother. Of her singing to him softly and rocking him. He remembers her falling ill, and he remembers her passing away. He was too young to totally understand the ramifications, but with both his parents gone he was alone in the world. When no one else would, the church of Liaism took in the poor orphan and raised him.

Brother Lars was raised as a servant to the Creator, under the loving guidance of Mother Seena and her Liation family. This family grew to be the only one he knew, save for the faint memories of his mother’s voice. They cared for him and he cared back. He learned to read by his exposure to the holy books, a skill his parent would never have been able to provide him. He held incredible gratitude to the church for all that it provided for him. From a young age he knew he wanted to dedicate his life to the Creator.

Brother Lars chose to join the Church, to learn all that he could of the Creator. He wanted to spread the peace and meaning that Liaism gave to his own life. This was his calling. He read the holy book often, pouring over its pages and absorbing the message of the Creator. His elders taught him the lessons he would need to be an active member of the church. He even trained in the Grand Arts once he was ready.

Now 27, Brother Lars has become an accomplished young monk in the Church. His own story has shaped him into a person who wants to protect those who can’t protect themselves. This manifests itself in him helping care for the children who find themselves under the Church’s protection, much like he did many years ago. As a trained member of the Church, he now helps teach these kids with their more basic lessons when he isn’t training himself.

Despite the love that Brother Lars holds in his heart, he holds serious contempt for Griswald. His father’s death was a direct result of his harsh rule. Even if his father was commiting a sin, it was Griswald’s policies that pushed him to that extreme. Where forgiveness was needed, brutal punishment was delivered. The injustices reach much further than his own life, and he sees every day how others are impacted by his tyranny. The Church is a haven that welcomes in those crippled by the man, and Brother Lars is there to protect them. He hasn’t dared speak out about his concern for Griswald for fear of retaliation, but he has picked up on the snarky remarks Mother Seena makes about him.

His loyalty lies solely with the Church and his family. The earthly laws of the land that are imposed by Griswald have no moral bering over Lars and are generally in direct opposition to the tenants he upholds.

Weapon: A bo staff

Grand Art: Protection. Brother Lars can use the Grand Art in order to soften enemy blows in order to keep himself and those in his care safe from harm. He learned this during his studies in the Church, and took him years to be able to perform.

Other: -Very protective of children, especially orphans since he grew up without his parents too
-An apt fighter, but will usually only strike in self defense
-Loves fishing and gardening

Metallic Wonder
Sign my behind up please! posting a WIP here for the time being. let me know if anything seems out of place.

Name: Raja (As he was left outside the brothel as an infant, he never knew his birthname. Ysolde named him Raja)
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Weapon: Raja owns a fairly plain Tanto that he uses when he's out tresspassing others homes at night. It is useful if he would ever be caught, as he is quite skilled with it, and never hesitates taking a life.
MVBGUgc.png
srV00GK.png

Appearance: Raja is a handsome young man standing at around 187cm tall. He has a slim and well fit body due to regular training sessions, and maintains his physique this way in order to be better at his job. He has slightly tanned skin with a fair complexion. His facial features are fair and youthful, his eyes being a faded shade of green. He often have a relaxed look to them, giving his face an overall neutral look which makes it difficult for others to read him. He has long wavy black hair which he often ties into a lose ponytail. He mostly keeps his hair long for his clients sake, as he would prefer to have it short if he could.

For clothing, Raja has little to say. He wears what is presented to him by his adpotive mother, which often consists in skimpy, revealing attires befitting his profession. Though hesitant at first, Raja has now grown quite comfortable with this kind of clothing, and never shys away like he used to. His regular attire consists of a fairly simple sidecut pants, revealing most of his legs. Around his waist, he wears a belt wih bronse decorations on it. HE wears a pair of brown sandals to go with this, as well as a matching bronze necklace. He mostly dresses shirtless, wearing a pair of deep red sleeves with the same decorative bronse ornaments as his belt has. He has other variations of this outfit, though he rarely rotates between them outside of work.

Clothing in this day and age is mostly a sign of wealth, which Raja has very little of. When he is out on his nightly shenanigans, stealing from others, he wears a completely different outfit. He is then dressed in blend rags, covering his entire body. He also has a hooded scarf and a facemask to hide his identity in case he is compromised. A more casual outfit, the rags also helps him remind himself of who he is: A young adult wanting more from life.

Personality: At first glance, one would think Raja is a fairly quiet individual. He mostly keeps to himself or his close group of friends, and he doesn't do much to stand out in a crowd. He doesn't talk too much, and when he does it is often in short sentences, straight to the point. He doesn't smile much, which makes it very easy to mistake him for being angry about something. He is a hard nut to crack as he doesn't reveal much emotion in his normal behavior. it is only when you truly get to know him that he starts to come more out of his shell. When he does, he is talkative and friendly, if not a tad mean. He enjoys making fun of others through relatively harmless jokes, and can be quite the gossip whenever any news regarding the city's upper class citizens emerge, which he often hear through his clients. Mostly from experience in his profession, Raja carries himself with pride and a certain flirtatous attitude. He has always been taught that there is no shame in showing off ones appearance, which is something he often does knowingly.

Raja's friendly attitude is often no more than a facade though. He has a very grim outlook on life, and does not value the lives of others, which is clear in heated situations. He would not hesitate to take lives if compromised when trespassing in order to hide his own tracks. This is a stark contrast to the friendly attitude he puts up when in social situations, and stems mostly from his strong sense of self-preservance. He is slow to trust others, and always follow his own instincts, as he believes that he can only trust himself. His grim outlook on life extends to a strong feeling of injustice and hatred for the upper class citizens. He despises those who have had everything in life handed to them, and the people not appreciating the effort in hard work and dedication. There is also a weak layer of envy in his hatred which in turn evolved into his habit of stealthfully obtaining goods not belonging to him from the comfort of other peoples homes. He has witnessed enough poverty and injustice in his life, and he basically has no aspirations, other than making money, one way or another.

All in all, Raja is a hard nut to crack. The bottom line for him is to look out for oneself, and lay naive feelings and social needs on the shelf. He is a man of practicality, and most social connections he makes ends in either treachery or death. That is most, not all, as he does have an inner circle of real friends. Once you've gotten past the tricky hurdles of Rajas habits of either robbing you or downright killing you, he is a friend that sticks out for you in a pinch. He values friends like family, considering he has never had one, and is not one to walk away from someone if they've wronged him.

History: As with many residents of the town of Glynstone, Rajas story is all but a pleasant one. He was born into poverty, and never knew his parents. As an infant, his mother left him at the doorstep of the local brothel named "House of pleasures", or "The House" by its residents and customers. He was left there without knowing his parents name, or his own for that matter. Ysolde, the brothels headmistress decided to take him in, and named him Raja in doing so. Per his parents wishes, he grew up in a decent enough home, and had access to 3 meals a day, and a decent, if not somewhat lacking education. His life was definitely better within the brothel than it was outside of it, which is what his true parents always wanted for him.

Of course, being able to grow up living in a brothel makes the headmistress have certain expectations of you. Though Ysolde viewed him as her own son, she was always strict in that he was going to work to earn his keep when the time came. As a kid, this never really bothered him, as Raja was just happy to have a roof over his head, even if said roof smelled like old fun and bad decisions. However, as he got older and it became more of a reality, he grew more hesitant towards the idea of working there. However, he did oblige, and at the young age of 14, he was scheduled to have his first client. Luckily for him though, his first client was a wealthy woman showing great understanding regarding his inexperience. He knew of others in his "family" with less sucessful first encounters, and considered himself lucky. Though not too demanding, the woman taught him what she knew, which in turn made Raja question why her husband had grown so detached from her in the first place.

About a year later, Raja had experienced a great variety in clientele. Both male and female, he was starting to grow quite the reputation, if not a silent one. Nobody liked talking about going to a brothel, but everyone knew who had the talent when actually there. Raja, on the other hand, wasn't really satisfied with life. Granted, he had grown accustomed to his.. profession, but he also wanted out of it. Having talked to Ysolde about it, she supported his decision to leave, though she did not have the means of supporting him for when he actually left. He would spend most of his time at the brothel, sometimes venturing out to the market with some of the others. He was a curious soul, and he knew what he wanted in life. However, the methods of obtaining said things weren't exactly within the law. It started small. A customer forgot to bring his coinpurse when leaving, so Raja kept it. They never came back if they forgot things, which worked in his favor. It evolved into him sneakily hiding away valuables when spending time with his customers. A necklace here, a few rings there, the clients were so rich and dumb that they never noticed. This went on for about a year, with him stashing everything away in a hidden lockbox in his room.

He took his kleptomania a large step further when he first broke an entry. He had a habit of sneaking out at night, just spending time alone to reflect on things and enjoy the silence. Considering the amount of guards patroling, he had also developed quite the stealth, and aptitude for moving about without being spotted. His envy for the wealthy, and general curiosity was what made him break into his first mansion. A rich old fart in an abusive relationship with one of his clients. He had heard a lot of nasty little secrets about the family; people really ran their mouth if you worked them right. To Raja, it was like stepping into a whole different world. Riches he could barely imagine around every (well, let's be serious. Maybe 1/3) corner. The family were asleep of course, but the old fart had ventured out in the halls to use the restroom, thus catching Raja off guard. Before the man could raise his voice in alarm, Raja stabbed him, and liked it, and then stabbed him again, and liked it even more. Taking a rather modest portion of valuables from the mans bedroom (he and his wife had seperate rooms), he made a swift escape. The mans wife, though obviously shaken by the incident, seemed a lot happier as time passed.

As the years passed, Raja would continue in his bad habits of entering others homes and snatching items not belonging to him. He would stash away a good portion in his secret spot, and spend on gifts for his "family". Though some were questioning where he would obtain such goods, they never dug too much. It was no secret that the workers got gifts from clients out of sheer appreciation. The brothel had no real rule about stealing from clients, but rather a norm within the family to not get caught, which they were all really good at. Granted, they did need to hold a rather low profile. Though their line of work was not outlawe in the society, it was still looked down upon. The only reason they were free from Griswalds sadistic lottery was because of the fact that half of his inner circle were regular customers there.

Grand Art: He doesn't know any grand arts.

Other:
- Raja is bisexual.
- He is self-taught in martial arts.
- He is a very skilled dancer..
- .. And a terrible singer.
- He's a kleptomaniac.
- He loves gems and sparkly things.

Night Triumphant
Save me a spot too! XD

Name: Emilia Nox Zephyrine Ulric (Usually goes by just "Emilia", but her friends affectionately call her "Lia", like her uncle used to call her)

Age: 25

Gender: Female

Appearance:
8NNmo8j.png

While not the most polished and definitely not the most refined young woman, it's difficult to deny that Emilia is strikingly beautiful, though not in a delicate way. In fact, many lament that she would be one of Glynstone's greatest beauties if only she weren't so tall, if she fixed herself in a manner more appropriate for a woman and if she put on a proper dress. At 6'1", she's tall for a woman, and her body is noticeably toned and muscular. Her most prominent feature is her long, thick red hair that falls in loose waves down to her hips. She usually wears part of it in different sorts of braids, held together with leather straps, while keeping some parts loose. Her piercing eyes are a stormy pale blue-gray color, which, while intimidating to look at, sometimes betray her emotions more than she would like. They're usually cold and hard, but when she laughs, they light up and somehow become softer, more akin to a winter sky than to storm clouds. Her eyes are made even more striking by the fact that she wears the face paint typical for hunters of the village. She has strong features on her face, with an angular shape, strongly-arched red brows, sharp nose and thinner lips. Her torso and arms are rock-hard, and are adorned by elaborate woad tattoos, again a staple among hunters in the town. Her hands are big, strong, rough and callused, with long fingers that allow her to better handle her spear, or even a bow occasionally. Her legs are toned and muscular as well. Her ears bear piercings in several places, including places not appropriate for any proper citizen of the village, all of them decorated with dark metal earrings and bars. As normal for any hunter, her back, arms and torso are riddled with healed scars. While most of these scars come from hunting, some of them are a result of beatings she received, mostly for insubordination, though a number of particularly nasty ones are a result of a particularly bad beating she received years ago for killing a man.

With regards to clothing, Emilia has a strong aversion when it comes to dresses, dismissing them as impractical and difficult to move in. She favors wearing her hunting leathers and furs, and wears them in a unique black color, setting her apart from the other hunters, who tend to wear browns, blues or grays. She actually obtained her leathers from a leatherworker in the town whom she regularly supplies with animal hides and whom she is rather close with. Among hunters, exposing skin is a sign of strength, ferocity and endurance. Thus, Emilia, being a hunter with some of the best kills and a proud one at that, makes do with wearing a short black leather breast piece fastened with simple straps, tight black leather pants, and sturdy, lace-up black boots. Around her waist, she wears a belt made of of leather and fur, and she also tends to wear a black wolf pelt on her shoulders. On her forearms, she wears a pair of black leather bracers trimmed with black wolf fur, and on her hands are simple black leather fingerless gloves. In colder weather, she has trained herself to survive and handle the cold and she doesn't put on too much as a result - usually just a larger fur pelt over her shoulders.

Personality:
- Fearless and brave, even reckless
- Confident in her abilities, sometimes to the point of arrogance (See the skulls tied on her spear? They're her kills.)
- Independent and self-sufficient, never is one to ask for help from anyone
- Always speaks her mind and never minces her words
- Very foul-mouthed, swears a lot and does not use speech befitting a typical woman
- Cynical and often initially mistrustful of others' intentions
- Temperamental
- Often one to initiate fights, whether tavern fights or actual fights...very much a Leeroy Jenkins who doesn't enjoy convoluted explanations and appeals
- Huge authority issues
- Prickly towards close-minded people, nobles and misogynists, but proves to be warm and even friendly to fellow outcasts, people living on the fringes, and those who don't judge her
- An irreverent who's known to be sarcastic and snarky around high-ranking and wealthy townspeople
- Very unforgiving and holds grudges for a very long time
- Slow to trust others, but a loyal friend
- Knows how to put aside feelings when carrying out a job
- Though not outwardly obvious, she's definitely compassionate and warmhearted (Why else does she continue to stay and hunt for the town?)
- Surprisingly generous
- May deny it repeatedly, but she has a strong instinct to take care of others who need her
- Usually an objective and logical thinker
- Knows her way around things and is street-smart, but not exactly the most literate
- Irreligious and isn't part of the Liation Church, but doesn't hesitate to provide meat when the Church needs it
- Loves good alcohol and hardly gets drunk

History: Emilia was born to impoverished parents in the poorest part of Glynstone, their only child. Her father, Søren, worked hard as a laborer, while her mother, Merete, tried as much as she could to augment their income by working as a cleaner in a tavern. They were, however, loving parents who tried to support her the best they could, and never once asked for her to work, preferring to raise her like any normal child. Life was hard, though thankfully, it wasn’t often that they didn’t have enough to eat, as Merete was sometimes lucky enough to be given leftovers from the tavern she worked at to bring home, and Matthias, Søren’s older brother and one of the best and only hunters in Glynstone, often secretly gave them some of the best parts of his kills. From a young age, Emilia looked up to her uncle Matthias and aspired to become a hunter like him. The young redhead was different from most other girls in Glynstone - even from those around the poorer parts of town - she wasn't content sitting still, behaving herself and being indoors like Griswald claimed a proper girl should. Rather, she was a brash, roughhousing tomboy, who didn't mind that her parents couldn't afford a fine dress for her, who often scuffled in the mud with some of the young boys who lived nearby and enjoyed wandering away from the family cottage to go "exploring" in town, and who first sipped her uncle's mead when she was just four years old.

Matthias saw potential in the young girl, and her parents, being practical people, didn't discourage her aspirations either, despite the fact that a woman hunter was unheard of in Glynstone, and was inevitably bound to be a source of controversy if ever such a thing happened. Thus, Matthias and Emilia spent as much time together as they could after the former came back from hunting. He taught her about the animals and beasts he hunted outside the town walls as well as which ones were the best kills, and always reminded her that not everything Griswald made everyone believe was true - better to question and doubt things than blindly believe, he said. Thus, Emilia grew up to have a firm mind of her own, one that wouldn't yield once she set her mind on things. Inevitably, this also extended towards her odd views on religion and the Liation Church. At eight years old, she decided for herself that she wanted no part in it, thinking religious doctrine to be made-up. Instead, she used her time to practice handling hunting weapons with Matthias (or when her parents were home, to help them around). Matthias was a stern yet kind teacher, who recognized the young girl's fire and courage to try anything without fear, and he guided her into putting said fire into good use. Not only did he teach her about hunting, but he also taught her to defend herself and become not just a hunter but also a fighter, warning her that he knew as a fact that some of the hunters' deaths beyond the walls were caused by other hunters themselves, wanting to steal better kills and curry Griswald's favor. She took to these fighting lessons very quickly, and took them seriously while still enjoying every minute. Her parents would often look on proudly, without a care about what others might possibly think. Their daughter was growing up strong, brave and clever, which was more than they could ever ask for.

Unfortunately, their whole family unit wasn't to last. When Emilia was ten, not just one, but both of her parents fell victim to one of Griswald's sickening lotteries - rigged lotteries that spared anyone who could pay the price or had Griswald's favor, at the expense of everyone else. Thankfully, Matthias was spared from it, and rather than allow the church to take his niece, he took her in instead, knowing that the unyielding young girl with winter storms in her eyes and flames in her hair and was an ill fit for church life and religious work. He continued to instruct her, and thanks to the publicity surrounding the lottery's victims, it didn't take long for some of the townspeople to notice what exactly the young orphan had chosen to do with her life. Some tried to interfere, saying that the hunt was no place for the "fairer sex", while more than one even suggested that Emilia be sent to Glynstone's brothel instead - such a "pretty" girl could very well bloom into the town's most beautiful diamond with a little work, they claimed. Matthias shut all of them down, asserting that he was never going to allow anyone to force his brother's daughter into selling her own body for food if she didn't want to do so. He reckoned that they probably were just intimidated by the idea of a female hunter anyway.

And as Emilia grew older, she became stronger and fiercer - as a young teen, she was already strong enough to go toe-to-toe with her own uncle in a bare-handed fight. She never once allowed her uncle to take it easy on her, and always was up for any challenge. I will be strong. Stronger than my parents. Strong enough to kill that bastard Griswald and his cocksuckers, she always reminded herself. She found out that of all the hunting weapons she tried out, the spear felt the most comfortable to her, though she was good with a bow too. When she turned fourteen, Matthias took her with him to hunt outside the walls of Glynstone for the first time. The wilderness was as untamed, cold and dark as Griswald said it would be, but Emilia felt freer and happier out there than within the town's walls. As she watched her uncle teach her how to hunt and as she began to navigate the woods on her own, she realized the truths to his words - that not all the beasts ate men, that sometimes, humans were even worse sorts of monsters, and that Griswald was a pathological liar who deceived for his own benefit. While she was never the most idealistic and naive child in the first place, she lost what few illusions she might've had in her younger years. Think for yourself, Lia...and never let anyone tell you what to think, do or believe in, Matthias would always tell her, and now she understood what he meant - she wanted and was going to be a hunter alright, but she wasn't about to do it to kiss Griswald's ass and fatten him. No, she was going to hunt for the ones who needed her most and had to eat more...it was only logical and right. Matthias was proud of her, and began to allow her to accompany him when he went to sell his best meats to certain brave butchers and tavern owners. In time, Emilia learned to do everything on her own - from hunting to disguising the meats and offal herself, as well as distributing them, and when she was eighteen, she became the town's newest full-fledged hunter, as well as its only known female hunter. Griswald consented to it, due mostly to the fact that the town sorely lacked regular hunters, but also because he thought that she was going to die within weeks or months anyhow.

Many of the other hunters scoffed at her, dismissing her as a pretender trying to get by on her uncle's reputation. Yet, Matthias taught her well, and save for the inevitable injuries from fighting up close and hunting with a spear (rather than a bow and arrow), she always came back in one piece and often brought in some of the best kills. Unlike the others, who chose to hunt in a group, Emilia was a solitary hunter like her uncle, and did her killing on her own. The wilderness did not scare her one bit, and she knew all too well that she was breaking common hunter convention as well as the unspoken rules about whom to prioritize giving the meat to, but she did as she wanted and what she thought was right anyway. Besides, it wasn't as if Griswald and the nobles didn't eat offal - on the contrary, they seemed to enjoy some offal as delicacies. You are what you eat. They're trash, just like the offal they consider delicacies, so they can get stuffed with all the offal they want, she often rationalized whenever she brought back her kills and sold her offal to higher-end taverns and butchers, while disguising and saving the best parts for those who needed it - commoners and those under the care of the church (though she was a non-believer, she knows that her lack of belief is inconsequential when it comes to matters like that). She also took the time to explore as much of the wilderness as possible, to find a way out and prove that Griswald was deceiving her. It had to end somewhere after all.

However, it came to a point some of the other hunters to notice that she wasn't at all a fluke, and they began to badger her more and more often - they often tailed her whenever she set off on her own, and sometimes even attempted to steal some of her kills in order to claim them as their own. Emilia usually got them off her back by fighting them directly and hunting much farther than they normally dared to (which usually resulted to her nabbing bigger kills, though she got hurt more often and had a few close calls as a result), but it came to a point when they became more than a minor problem. One of them was not like the others, however. Arthur Draconis was seemingly different and no matter how much Emilia tried to fend him off, push him away and insult his shit-eating grin, he stuck by her and she found herself letting him in eventually, and the two grew close. The redhead still preferred to hunt on her own, and she staunchly went about the rest of her business alone or with her uncle as well, but she always smiled whenever Arthur came by, laughed at his wit, and even began eating her meals with him when out hunting. Mathias oddly liked the young man as well. It didn't take long before rumors began to spread quickly in the village that the two of them were involved a sexual relationship with each other...rumors that were actually true. Many hoped and vocalized that having such a man in her life would ensure that she would settle down and stop hunting to make way for someone more...appropriate for the task, but her wild spirit could not be tamed, whether or not she had a lover, and as one would see later in the end, it was that wild, unnatural spirit that won out over what seemed to be feelings of love.

Everything began to fall down one night when Emilia realized that Matthias hadn't come back to town...her uncle, who always came back without fail to bring home some of the best kills. This made her suspicious - he wasn't very old and he knew his way around in the wilderness more than she ever could, so his non-presence felt extremely odd to her. Arthur had not arrived either, when he would often return before she did. Before dawn the next day, she then set out much earlier than everyone else, deciding to handle the matter on her own and find out whether or not they had unfortunate run-ins with some of the more dangerous beasts in the wood...though she highly doubted that such a thing would happen to her uncle. Deeper and deeper she wandered in the dark woods, and as she tried to look for any sign of either of the two, she kept up with her hunting. Before noon and in one of the most dangerous parts of the woods, she smelled rotting not too far away. She tracked down the scent, only to be rewarded by a heartbreaking and horrifying sight - Matthias' bloody, dead body lying in a clearing. She swore aloud, too shocked to feel anything, and immediately rushed towards the corpse and took one look at it. Several arrow wounds accompanied the fresh scratches and torn-off areas of his flesh. Before she could even think about who killed him, and before she could even wonder whether or not Arthur met the same fate, she heard footsteps from behind her.

She turned around and saw Arthur, unharmed aside from the usual dirt and minor scratches...and dried blood on his hands and forearms. Emilia narrowed her eyes at him and punched him before demanding to know what the hell happened. At first, Arthur denied any knowledge of the incident, but he used extremely conflicting accounts that led Emilia to believe that he indeed had something to do with it. She struck him with her spear on his leg, calling him out and asking for a straight answer. Cornered, Arthur gave another one of his sly grins and told her he knew all about her and her uncle...antics, treachery and the whole lot. It was all part of a plan of some of the other hunters' to get rid of Matthias and her. He then told her to sleep with him if she wanted him to shut up and allow life to continue as normal. Enraged and heartbroken, she declared that she'd rather get punished than sleep with him. He taunted her about Griswald's public beatings, and she speared him, killing him without any remorse. He deserved it, she thought, for murdering a man who did nothing wrong. A few hunters had heard the ruckus and arrived in the clearing and saw the dead Arthur and a stony-faced Emilia. The redhead threatened them with her weapon, declaring that she knew the lot of them were responsible, and she was going to do the same to any number of them if they were going to think of defiling Matthias' body. One of them called her out, asking her what made her different from a real monster when she just murdered a person, just like other monsters did? Emilia replied that she only killed monsters, before spearing the hunter as well. This was enough to scare the others into leaving her alone.

She gave Matthias a proper grave, and went back to Glynstone, unafraid, as she carried Arthur's body on her back. Many witnessed the sight and the town was abuzz within hours. Griswald and his inner circle questioned her, and she admitted outright that she murdered Arthur Draconis for his murder of her uncle Matthias Ulric. The other hunters, now afraid that Emilia would expose their past actions, as well as their involvement in the murder, agreed with her words and said nothing of Emilia's and Matthias' activities out of fear for their own heads. Now, everyone knew Griswald was sadistic and cold-hearted. Few, however, knew that he had a hidden lecherous side. He knew Emilia as the irreverent, foul-mouthed huntress whom many hoped would be tamed by somebody, as well as an undeniable beauty despite her stormy temperament. He wanted to see if the young woman had any supposed limits - he particularly wanted to see her crack, and be the one to do so, to make an example of her to the town. He then proposed an idea - rather than have her tied to her pyre or stoned to death as is usual for murderers, she would only receive a severe beating...if she would share a bed with him, as she did hunt her share, and the man she murdered was hardly innocent. Emilia straight-up refused, spat in his face and claimed that she'd much rather face her pyre or the stoning. Griswald was both furious and amused. So, dying was preferable for her? Trying to break her would be more than entertaining for him, then - after all everyone had a breaking point. She was then sentenced to a severe public beating the next morning in the town square. She bore the pain bravely without once shedding tears, even as blood flowed down her ruined back and the nobles and many townspeople jeered at her.

Though she wasn't part of the Liation church, it did not prevent Mother Seena from coming to her aid and taking her within the church walls to be healed. A vulpine-eared boy who was no older than eleven, one of Mother Seena's wards, came to her aid and tried as best he could to stop the bleeding and heal her wounds. Now, she knew this boy through recent rumors and not in a good way. Many called him a monster, but seeing what he had done for her made her think differently. Were monsters those who just looked different? What made them worse from the monsters she'd seen for herself? Now, the boy was far from mastering his scripture, but he still made the effort to heal her without asking her to explain what had happened, and Emilia was grateful. Lucas Renard was the furthest thing from a monster, that she knew.

It turned out, the actual beating was probably the most superficial part of her punishment. The next day, half the town had began to spread nasty rumors (potentially originated by Griswald himself) about her - that she might've used her body to get her way with Griswald and avoid punishment, and that she did the same to her lover Arthur only to kill him. To share a bed with Emilia Ulric was a literal curse and death wish, they whispered. Not everyone believed in the rumors, however, and continued associating with her and staying friendly with her. She became a polarizing figure in the town - despised by many yet quietly admired by a surprising number. A manipulative, shameless seductress or a brave, if irreverent huntress - if one would ask different people about her, chances are their stories would be wildly different.

Emilia, still proud and unyielding as ever, continues to hunt for Glynstone's townspeople and lives in its fringes in a small cottage, away from the other hunters. So far, she's been lucky that Griswald had not picked her for his twisted lotteries yet...though she wasn't sure whether it truly was her luck or a combination of Griswald's sadism and loins. The rumors never rested or died, and Griswald still waits to see if she would indeed break and give in. She hunts alone, in the comfort and darkness of the surrounding wilderness, still venturing as deep and as far as she could, both to find better beasts to hunt for those who needed to eat...and to find a way out. There had to be an edge to the wilderness after all, and she wasn't going to give up looking for it...even if it meant actually running into a beast that would eat her.

Weapon: Spear. Her own hunting spear to be exact, complete with skulls tied around it - from her own kills. She's allowed to carry her own weapon, as she's one of the very few regular hunters of the village.

Grand Art: Emilia doesn't know any Grand Art.

Other:
- Bisexual, maybe even pansexual...yet very reluctant to have romantic feelings for just about anyone thanks to her bad experiences and the equally nasty reputation she gained in town from the fallout of that incident.
- She might bring in some of the best kills, but as the only female hunter of the town and because the other hunters know about that incident, she is looked down upon and ostracized by her fellow hunters.
- Very popular among tavern owners and butchers catering to commoners, as she's generous with her kills.
- Nasty rumors about her circulate the town, foremost is the one that claims she seduced and slept with Griswald to save her own ass after she murdered a man.
- Lucas Renard does not like it when she smells like booze. At all. While those who derisively pick on her drinking are met with a punch or a kick from her, Lucas is perhaps the only exception.

Why not both?
Me too! It's time to find more reasons to procrastinate : D

Name: Haze

Age: 19~ ish

Gender: Female

Appearance:
ZMrgBDn.png
7PTYFeO.png

Haze has a lanky, thin build, courtesy both of her general lack of good, nourishing food and the lightness of body required for someone of her profession. She is of about average height, but has a way of moving that sees to make her seem smaller. Her skin is pale, and covered with all sorts of blemishes that mark her as someone who hasn’t exactly had the best of lives. This, along with her lack of muscle, gives her a rather ghostly appearance. Her eyes are a pale purple colour - they’re slightly on the larger side and give her a relatively childlike look, but they seem to lack the ‘shine’ that normal people have, like there’s a sort of mist over them. It has the affect of making her seem somewhat distant and, on worse days, corpse-like. She tends to have a relaxed, gentle smile on her face. Her hair is relatively long, having a ragged, kind of tired, droopy feeling, and she occasionally ties some of it back into a bun of sorts.

In terms of clothing, Haze favours large, baggy clothes, mainly because she considers them to be comfortable. She’s not very picky with what she wears, and most of her clothes have either been picked up after being discarded by others, or bought for cheap prices. She prefers to wear varying shades of grey, but will wear pretty much any colour if she deems it necessary for whatever reason - be it for the purpose of blending in, or simply because it happened to be easily available. When possible, she tends to go around barefooted.

While she does most of her thievery in her normal clothes, knowing that any peculiar dress would just make her stand out, she does own a grey cowl and a piece of cloth which she ties around the lower half of her face. She also has a pair of gloves - one slightly longer than the other - for some limited protection against any weapons people may carry, as well as the taxing nature of some surfaces she might have to climb. She generally prefers to stay away from this outfit, since it reminds her of the unpleasant nature of her occupation, something she'd rather not think too hard about.

Personality:
- Quiet and reserved.
- Doesn't like attention.
- Very non-confrontational.
- Kind/Gentle/Caring/Helpful.
- Generally quite pleasant to be around.
- Has no ambitions and no real desires either.
- Disillusioned and cynical, but also very accepting/forgiving.
- Very non-judgemental and cares for everyone, no matter who they are.
- Can't express emotions well and tries to suppress them.
- Subdued and distant.
- Often feels guilt over stealing, but has no other way to support herself.

History: The first thing Haze remembers is waking up alone on the street. Her parents are nothing more than a distant, hazy memory, having abandoned her since she was a child. She knows nothing about them - although there are times where she finds herself wishing that they were taken by Griswald’s lotteries, since that, at least, would mean they didn’t leave her of their own will. Regardless, she was alone, and had no idea where to go or what to do, except for one thing - she was hungry. And so, a few hours later, she committed her first act of thievery, and went to bed on a full stomach, filled by the nearby baker’s bread.

So the routine of her life was set - hide somewhere, steal food when the opportunity was found, move around constantly. It was wholly unpleasant, but the act of surviving was difficult enough that she didn’t have much time consider her actions. Eventually, she was noticed by an experienced thief who called himself Kale. The man saw potential and usefulness in her, and decided to take her under his wing. Still young, she was glad for the chance to gain some sort of parental figure, and readily joined the elder thief on his escapades. She was fast, agile, a good climber, and had an instinct for being ignored - all essential traits for being a successful thief. Kale taught her how to best disappear into a crowd, the way to bump past someone so that when they next checked, their wallets would be in her hands (and preferably far away), and how to get in and out of buildings without being seen. For a brief period of time, the two of them were almost like a happy family.

That was, until they attempted something a little bit too daring. Kale, who had always wanted to be something more than just a thief, hatched a plan to steal one of the scriptures that provided knowledge on the Grand Arts, hoping to learn one for himself. Haze, masquerading as a newly orphaned teenager, went to the church and received sanctuary there. For a week, she lived there, spending most of her time in the library, memorising the layout of the entire building. When it came to the heist itself, though, there were complications - she was found attempting to sneak the scripture out of the library, and had to make a run for it. Although she managed to procure the scripture, Kale had disappeared like they had planned in case of failure, and she knew that it was her job to disappear as well, until the whole thing blew over and the lost scripture was regarded as a lost cause.

A few months later, the two of them were finally reunited - Haze gave her surrogate father the scripture, and the two resumed their life together. However, their time apart seemed to have changed something, and eventually, Haze decided to strike out on her own. Kale had no real objections, and the two parted on friendly terms. Now alone, Haze found herself a makeshift home in an abandoned, slightly derelict house near the edge of town. Slowly, her life settled back into a stable routine. She roamed around town, stealing things for a living, and spending an inordinate amount of time admiring the lives of those who had more legitimate jobs - all the while looking for someone who would be willing to employ someone with no legitimate talents and no real past, such as herself.

Weapon: Throwing knives.

Grand Art: She doesn’t have one.

Other: (anything else we should know)

It's so shiny!
Could I have a reserve too?

W.I.P

Name: Tris (Although this is her preferred name, it is in fact a nickname. Her fullname is Trisanne Calogera Filomena Allegra Pentaghast)

Age: 23

Gender: Female

b7YUCNU.png
bcWCRbV.png
jWLa5Ad.png

Appearance: Although she may dress plainly, there is no denying that Tris is a striking young woman, something which stems from her Pentaghast blood. Like many in the Pentaghast family, she has the typical tan skin and raven hair combination; however, because of her mother's "common" blood, she lacks the typical golden brown eyes of the Pentaghast, and instead her eyes are more of a lilac-grey colour. Tris is an unusually tall woman, standing at around 5'8'', and can tower over most female peers. Tris has a lithe build, with slightly defined muscles on her upper arms and thighs, although as these are covered most of the time, they aren't that noticeable. Despite her lithe build, Tris is actually borderline underweight, on account of a poor diet. In regards to facial features, Tris is definitely a mix of both parents, inheriting much of the Pentaghast colouring, but more of her mother's features. Along with the typical thin lips of the Pentaghast line, she also inherited the thin, almost beak-ish nose of the family too. Her raven hair falls to her shoulders in length, and is naturally wavy. She wears it down most of the time, but will put it up in small buns or plaits when working, so as to keep it out of her face.

In regards to clothing, Tris mostly likes to dress plain and simple. In some part, this is mostly due to having little money to afford high quality clothes, but it is also in part due to the bad memories spent at her father's estate, in which she would be occasionally be forced to dress up like a noblewoman. Her preferred outfit is a simple red gown, tied at the waist with plaited belt. When out and about in Glynstone, or simply when the weather is cold, she will don a fur-trimmed cloak on top of that.

Although she rarely goes on nightly jaunts anymore, when she does go out, she dons a more elaborate outfit. On her upper half she tends to wear a long-sleeved red shirt, coupled with simple black trousers. However, these items of clothing are usually not visible (save for the legs), as she tends to wear a knee length coat over this. In the colder weather he occasionally wears a thick, unusually red, leather cloak on top of this. Despite the unusual colour of this article of clothing, Tris often swears it helps her blend in more, especially when she's working in the area where the Pentaghast family live, of which red is a primary colour amongst many of the families.

Personality: Tris is not a woman who stands out much in regards to personality. She is quiet and calm individual the majority of the time, preferring to take a step back and seeing how events unfold rather than take an active part in them. She is an observer at heart, and has built much of her life upon watching others, and listening into their secrets.

She strives to do good in the world, something which isn't easily acheived in a town like Glynstone. Not having the best of starts in life, Tris is eager to help others in similar situations to her youth, which again, isn't the easiest of tasks, considering she fits under the middle-class bracket and still struggles to get by sometimes. As a result of her need to help others, she has often had to resort to petty thievery to help others, and occasionally herself, get by. A part of her knows it isn't right, and that she takes a huge risk everytime she steals, but a part of her enjoys the thrill that comes from it, relishing it as a brief moment of excitement in her usually mundane life.

Tris has a slight opportunistic streak about her, something which she seems to have inherited from both parents. Although her parents were quick to snap at any opportunities that might better their life, Tris does her best to put some more thought into her actions, trying to decide whether the positives outweigh the negatives.

History: Tris was born to noble father and a poor mother. Her father, Lucian Pentaghast, was a member of the elite upper class, hailing from the Pentaghast family, who made their moderate fortune through selling wares. Her mother, Nicolette, was not so lucky in life. Born to poor parents, Nicolette's life was doomed to be dismal from the start. Eventually, when she was old enough, she started working at a brothel, which has since been closed. It was through her line of work that she eventually met Lucian. It did not take long after their first meeting for Nicolette to become pregnant. Whilst she was happy of the news, her happiness did not stem from the love she bore her child, but rather what significance the child played in her life. An opportunistic woman, Nicolette saw the pregnancy as her chance to escape from the brothel and have a decent life, believing that Lucian would do anything to prevent knowledge of an illegitimate child getting out. And sure enough he did.

With the little wealth Lucian provided, Nicolette and her daughter were able to leave the brothel, and were able to buy a small home. Unfortunately, that was where Lucian's money ran out, and despite being free of the brothel, Nicolette's life had returned to a poor state reminiscent of her youth. Both she and her child grew up for seven years in relative poverty, and although they didn't have the essentials needed for day to day life, but they had each other, and that was enough for the two of them.

Tragedy struck for Tris when she was seven, and her mother unfortunately became a victim of one Griswald's lotteries. Though she remembers little of the day her mother was taken from her, the loss of her mother at such a tender age, was troubling for Tris. For some time after, she was cared for by other families in the neighbourhood, who took pity on her being all alone. At least a fortnight after her mother's unfortunate death, Tris was reunited with her father, a man she had no memories of, and whose feelings towards him stemmed from what she had once been told by her mother. He expressed his sympathy for Nicolette's death, and lamented over his lack of involvement in Tris' life, hoping that by inviting her to live with him, he could build a relationship with her.

Wary of her father, Tris was hesitant to go with her father, but eventually left with him, knowing if she remained on her own for much longer, she would surely starve. The Pentaghast estate was located in a more upper class area of Glynstone, and as such was a very opulent house. When she first arrived there, Tris was in awe of the place, unable to believe quite how luxurious a life her father lived.

Although she looked forward to living a new life with her father, her new accommodation was not quite what she expected. Lucian tolerated and accepted his daughter, but that did not stop him from employing her as a member of the kitchen staff, and having her live amongst their servants. And his wife was even worse. Around her husband she was calm and collected, mostly ignoring Tris and going about her own business, but when her husband was away (as he often was) she would often demand Tris perform more demeaning tasks around the house, such as serving to the needs of her and her children, and cleaning around the house.

For the next few years, Tris did not have an easy life. Although there were difficulties, she did her best to not complain, knowing full well that things could have been worse. Although she found little solace within the Pentaghast family, she developed a strong rapport with the other servants of the household, coming to see them as her surrogate family instead. Although they too lived a poor life, they always treated her with respect and kindness, something which she knew little of. She trusted them, and they trusted her. They would share secrets with her that few others knew, be it their own or those of the people they knew. In time, Tris would come to learn just how valuable those secrets could be. In addition to those secrets she was told of, Tris would often listen into conversations between members of the family, her naturally unassuming persona lending well to helping to keep her private machinations secret.

When she had gathered enough secrets, Tris approached her father, requesting to that he release her from service. The request was laughable to Lucian at first; Tris was sixteen at the time, and up until then had expressed no qualms over her service to the family, though he always suspected she had issues with his wife. Seeing that her initial request was getting her nowhere, Tris was quick to point out how "unfortunate" it would be if certain secrets were to be made public, and then proceeded to list some of the more scandalous ones she knew. Shocked that she knew such secrets, and somewhat fearful of what would happen if they were made public, Lucian eventually consented to hear his daughter's terms. Surprisingly, she did not ask for much, only a small home that she may call her home, and a small fee to support her until she could get a job of her own.

When all matters were settled, Tris swiftly left the Pentaghast, ignoring her stepmother and half-siblings, briefly saying farewell, and having a longer send off with the staff. Her new home was once again in a fairly poor part of Glynstone, but was in far better condition than her childhood home. For around two months she lived off the money Lucian had given to her, but was eventually able to provide for herself when she earned a job at one of the local taverns. Thanks to her previous experience working as kitchen staff, she was offered a job as a junior chef, and quickly rose through the ranks.

In recent years, life has been relatively peaceful for Tris, though her time spent working under the Pentaghast still lingers in her thoughts. She enjoys her job, and the people she has met through it. She is an active member of her local community, and does her best to help others in similar or worse situations to her. Although she means well, her desire to help others often lead to her engaging in some morally grey activities, most notably petty thievery. Although she rarely does it now - the fear of getting caught and the repercussions that would come from it, eventually making her feel uneasy - she enjoyed knowing that she was able to help others.

Weapon: Twin stiletto daggers made from an unusual rose gold metal.

Grand Art: Tris does not know any grand arts.

Other: Tris is bisexual.
- Although she has had many jobs in the past, she has aspirations of becoming a painter one day.

Nanomachines, Son!
Guess I'll throw in a reserve too since I'm interested.

Name: Lucas Renard

Age: 13

Gender: Male

Appearance:
brg6QXH.png

Lucas stands at roughly 4 feet and 7 inches. His skins is a pale white complexion, he has short brown hair, and his eyes are sky blue. He also has fox-like ears covered in fur with the same color as his hair on the outside, and white fur on the inside. He also has a brown furred tail that's white at the tip.

For clothes, Lucas is either garbed in priest robes while in the church, or in more casual wear when going out. Said casual wear consists of a gray shirt, black baggy pants with a hole in the back for his tails to go through, and a white sash. He wears white socks with black leather sandals and covers most of his body with a brown hooded cloak to hide his fox-like features. He wears a necklace shaped after the symbol of the Liation Church around his neck at all times. This necklace is meant to indicate that he works directly under Mother Seena, is under her care and protection and is not to be harmed. He also has sharp fangs and claws.

Personality: Lucas is a gentle, yet timid individual. He can be oblivious and naive at times, but not to the point where he can be completely manipulated. Even though he’s a child and hates being alone, he’s not overly dependent on others as he is able to take care of himself.

Lucas starts off nervous when talking to someone for the first time, and how long it takes for him to open up to others varies from person to person. He opens up quickly to those he considers nice while doing his best to avoid those he considers scary. Despite his timid nature, he’s willing to approach others and speak up when he absolutely needs to. He also tends to be very curious, often eavesdropping on conversations or watching some kind of commotion that interests him from a hiding place, be it behind a wall or tree or on a rooftop. Once he’s made a friend he’ll try to spend as much time around them as possible and around complete strangers he’ll either hide until they prove to not be dangerous, or try to run if they prove hostile.

History: Lucas was born into a poor family, and his Mother died of childbirth. As a result, he grew up alone with his father most of his life. Considering him responsible for the death of his wife, Lucas's Father treated him with spite and kept him locked away in his home and acted like he didn't exist to the outside world.

Unable to leave home for anything besides attend church, Lucas was forced to find whatever means he could to keep himself occupied, which involved reading whatever books he could find in the rundown household. Often his Father would come home drunk and would beat him, calling him horrible things like abomination, monster, even murderer due to what happened to his Mother, even though it couldn't be considered his fault. The few times he was allowed to leave the house, his Father would watch him like a hawk to keep him from telling anyone of the abusive circumstances he was living under. Eventually, Lucas finally grew sick of being mistreated by his Father on a constant basis and escaped from his home one night, even going so far as to leave the town altogether believing he would be sent back home and punished severely by his Father should he ever be found. Not long after leaving, Lucas encountered a stranger and found himself regaining consciousness within the wilderness after an unknown amount of time, unable to remember what happened and now having been cursed to have fox-like features. Terrified by his new appearance, Lucas could only think to return to Glynstone fearful of how he'd be viewed by the strangers in the outside world.

However, Lucas was quickly feared and hated by the majority of the townsfolk, who saw him now as nothing more than a monster due to his cursed look, and would've been killed had Mother Seena not volunteered to take him into her protection. With Lucas being made to promise he would devote himself to the church in exchange for his life, Lucas was formally adopted by Mother Seena, who now looks after him like a son. When he's not performing mandatory church duties or running errands for Seena, he commits his time to studying Grand Art texts in search of a way to undo the curse that's been put on him and be a normal human again.

Weapon: Claws

Grand Art: Healing. Learned it from years of study while living in the church, searching for a way to undo the curse that was put on him.

Other: Along with looking like he's part animal, Lucas has increased speed and strength due to his curse.
Despite being in Mother Seena's care, she's one of the few who regularly refers to him by his name. Most of the townsfolk, whether they know his name or not, begrudgingly refer to him as "Fox", "The Monster Child", "Cursed Child" or "Seena's Pet", or any combination of those terms.

Alrighty, you all can have a reserve. And with that, I’m gonna close the SUs as I have reached my limit for this role play. If anyone needs any help with anything or has questions, let me know!

Finally sat down and read through the SUs properly. Everything looks A-okay to me, so both Andydemon and Minty are accepted. I should also have my own SU up either tonight or sometimes this weekend.

@REAL DADS: Interesting concept for your character! Brother Lars is accepted.

On a side note, Discussion thread has been approved so I’ll have that up soon too.

And...I'm done. Sorry if I gave Griswald a lecherous side. Figured that since Lia is an attractive grown woman...it isn't too unlikely to happen. :O
