Okay I know there is a thread about selphy but this is different,Lady selphy gives you 3 or 4 different items,But how does the game decide what items you get.For example I showed her muk and she gave me luxury ball, then I showed her a slugma and she gave me a pearl.Really,How is the item given to you related with the pokemon you show her?

I'll just say this because many people aren't going to look in the other thread for this answer. I also know that you, mantine god, knows this.
So here is that list again for people who didn't look in that other Selphy thread:
Rare Candy
Pearl
Big Pearl
Star Piece
Star Dust
Luxury Ball

i think its just random, luxury ball being the most common you would get and rare candy being the rarest

Actually I have had more rare candy than pearl, big pearl, star piece.
Had millions of stardust and luxury ballz.

I heard somewhere on this board that the item you get has something to do with how long it takes you to find the Pokemon that she's looking for.

I have said this around three times now and I am sick of repeating it.

It can't be the steps because of one reason. She asked for a Croconaw, and luckily I had one in my party. So I talked to her again, but she gave me a Luxury Ball (which is clearly not the best item). So this proves that it does not depend on steps.
I'm still redeciding over if it is random or rarity. I think I might have hopefully killed the thought of that it depends on how many steps were taken.

I'll just post what i heard:

The item is either depending on:
1 The pokemon you give her
2 The amount of steps you take
3 completely random
4 time you take
5 the pokemon's Iv

It can´t be of the steps, since I always fly to the nearest island, grab the Poké she wants and go back. One time, if I recall correctly, I had the Pokémon she wanted with me. Still, I have only gotten many Luxury Ball.

Same. A lot of times, all I do is fly to the island and surf back. I think I got a nugget from her once but I can't remember.

The way that I heard it, the more steps taken to obtain the Pokemon, the more valuable the item- not less. So the Croconaw in the example given would have merited a Luxury Ball because no steps were required to get it.

I'll do a little experimentation. It won't be 100% accurate because I'll be testing for steps with no way to exclude other factors, i.e. IVs. But it might give a better idea as to a theory.

She was lost. More specifically, she was lost in Lost Cave, which is to the east of Resort Gorgeous. The cave has many caverns consisting of small rooms with a number of rocks in them, and four doors per cave. To find Selphy, count the number of rocks per room, and then move in the direction indicated by that number on the clock. For example, three rocks means to take the door to the right, because when the clock hands point to three, they're pointing directly right.

Also in Lost Cave are many wild Gastly and Haunter, as well as either Murkrow or Misdreavus, depending on your version. If you deliberately get yourself lost and follow the wrong directions, you can find items in the rooms. I believe that they're the two Incenses needed to breed for Wynaut and Azurill.

I think you can find items by going to the opposite direction of... uh...
OK, I mean... When you see three rocks, you'd normally go right, but if you go left insted of right, you should find more chambers with items.
(Somebody else with better English should explain this.)

Sweet Scent.

I'm 20 trials into my little experiment with Selphy right now and have recieved 18 Luxury Balls and 2 Star Pieces. (Oy vey, what am I going to do with these things when I'm done?) At the moment it doesn't seem that there is any relationship between number of steps taken and item recieved. I set aside the Scyther and Psyduck that merited Star Pieces and will check their IVs on Emerald to see if that has anything to do with it.

I think the best place to find wild morkrow/misdreavus is the room where you find selohy?!?!
Just the fact that everytime I have played the game I caught mines in that room.

The chances of finding Murkrow/Misdreavus is the same in all rooms. Its pure luck if you find more of them in that room, mantine god.
