Landorus Discussion

Sup. My name's Landorus and I'm a Ground- / Flying-type Pokemon! I have 89 HP, 125 Attack, 90 Defense, 115 Special Attack, 80 Special Defense, and 101 Speed, which means I kinda suck at taking special hits but I LOVE trolling base 100 noobs like Salamence, Volcarona, and what-have-you-not. I also have these amazing offensive stats - like seriously 125 Attack and 115 Special Attack? All the girls would kill for that! Moreover, I have this really cool ability called Sand Force that makes my attacks basically have a Life Orb (x1.3) except without a recoil. Sadly, I've been discriminated and the nazis at Dream World haven't released my Dream World ability - Sheer Force - yet so that's why I'm always crossing my arms. I'm freaking pissed off man. When noobs like Pidgey and Farfetch'd get one, you know something's up.

A strong man like me obviously has a variety of weapons at his stead. My main move is Earthquake. I mean, who doesn't love shaking the ground? I freaking love it! It distorts people's mind that another certain Japan incident will happen but then I troll them with my other weapons, such as Stone Edge, Hidden Power Ice, and U-turn. Stone Edge is beautiful. It smashes the mighty sea serpent Gyarados whom I really freaking hate, wish we could all ban him. It also kills Pidgey and Farfetch'd - yes I have a serious grudge against those foos. When I get really angry, I unleash my Hidden Power. It usually appears to be quite frosty, don't know why. Just is. Well, I find it useful when I face idiots such as Gliscor, Salamence, Dragonite, and Pidgey. Being the genie I am, I usually get lost and get into a bad match-up with outlaws and gangsters such as Skarmory, Rotom-W, and Bronzong. I never fret though because all I got to do is take a U-turn to the highway to hell and I'll be darn goodie safe! Got buddies such as Tyranitar (who's my hero) and Gastrodon (my homie) to gank those noobs so we're all good. Oh, and sometimes I hit girls like Jigglypuff and Heatran (that's a girl right) with Hammer Arm. I feel bad afterward but it's okay, I slow down and think about what I just did. Usually it feels good.

You see me everywhere but sometimes you see me differently. Yeah, those freaking trainers like to do weird things with me, but gladly they're not in bed. They put these Life Orbs and Choice Scarfs on me and expect me to "do my job" and guess what, I do my job because I'm a boss. They see a +1/+1/+1 Volcarona and go "oh no whatever should i do" then a lightbulb appears "ohhhh landorus please help me you're my only hope" and I pop up, throw a Stone Edge at the bug fool and crush the puny bug under because my force is too strongth. Yes, thank you trainer, I can do everything. Want me to set up a Swords Dance and/or Rock Polish on that Ferrothorn or Jigglypuff? Sure, no problem. Now I can almost OHKO everything! Just don't be an idiot and leave me alone with those naughty Mamoswine and Weavile - I hate their guts and hope to never see them ever. That's why you pair me up with a Skarmory or something kids!

And then I get these dumb kids who put special attacks such as Calm Mind, Earth Power, Focus Blast, Grass Knot, and useless junk like that on me. Know what I do when such a trainer appears? I pop out of the PokeBall and go to Disney World. I mean, WHO DOES THAT? I HATE TRAINERS WHO THINK I'M A PURE SPECIAL ATTACKER! Oh please let me use Swords Dance and let me sweep entire teams okay? I can't even kill a Jigglypuff for god's sake... and I'm a genie! A real kick-butt genie with muscles!

At the very least, time has generated me a new kick-butt set that involves me smacking girls and letting them go down the hole. You see, I take some drugs that give me hallucination sometime and I see some nice ladies floating around and I just can't resist the urge to smack them down. And I smack them down... GOOD. Really good. I kinda like it. By then, I go crazy and shake the earth with my might, bringing down even the mightiest of steel birds and bronze bells to their knees. This even allows me to crush those washing machines that I OH SO HATE SO MUCH. Sometimes I don't hit hard enough with Smack Down though - that's me slacking off on my daily exercise routine. Sorry about that.

So basically, I'm a pimp.

Choice Scarf @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sand Force
Nature: Naive / Jolly
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge / Rock Slide
- U-turn
- Hidden Power Ice / Hammer Arm

Good revenge killer, especially with U-turn spam + hazards. It's so so very useful against Dragon Dance Salamence if that's even used, Quiver Dance Volcarona, weakmons who think they're fast, and I guess others. Hidden Power Ice vs Hammer Arm is basically Gliscor/etc vs Air Balloon Excadrill/Heatran/harder hit on Normal-types/Skarmory/Bronzong/Ferrothorn/meow.

Rock Polish @ Life Orb
Ability: Sand Force
Nature: Naive
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
- Earthquake
- Rock Polish
- Stone Edge
- Hidden Power Ice

Eh it's alright. Gets really fast, but sometimes you prefer more power instead of more speed like what Swords Dance does. Sometimes Rock Polish isn't even necessary. Paralysis + decent bulk does the trick well enough to kill the fastmon.

Landorus is cool, right guys? Let's talk about Landorus!

Haru Glory

Rave Master
Landorus is a very good guy, I've used him a couple of times, and it worked really well.
I'm thinking of creating a Sand team using him, just for Sand Force... Free Life Orb in sand, awesome.

AudinoGlitch

The free life orb only applies for ground, rock, and steel attacks.

I saw an interesting set on Smogon:

Item: Leftovers
Ability: Sand Force
Nature: Naive
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
- Substitute
- Smack Down
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power Ice

I'll admit, Smack Down is a gimmicky move but with the power of Landorus' Earthquake in mind, it can wreck so much havoc. You could replace Hidden Power Ice with something else if you want to run fully physical.

Landorus is a great pokemon with LO. His Sp. Atk is really what sets him apart from other Sand sweepers, beating Gliscor, you Stone Edge as they Protect, then you HP Ice when they think it's safe to stay in.

One thing I really like about Landorus is that Scarf Landorus kinda picks up where Scarf Garchomp left off before it became Uber. Landorus still has a troll speed of 101, allowing him to outspeed +1 Salamence and +1 Volcarona and such. In Sand, Landorus's Earthquake is even hitting a little harder than Garchomp's Outrage, a testament to its power. U-Turn and a powerful HP Ice to hit Gliscor are also pretty impressive. And, of course, let us never underestimate what a RP Landorus can do in a Sandstorm.

Seeing this topic really put a smile on my face, it was pretty funny. I just knew I had to make you a Landorus team after I saw this Flora, haha.

I may actually donate the team for the #dreamworld tournament on Smogon. I think the team is strong, and Landorus is really threatening.

Landorus is a beast in sandstorm.
It has a lot of counters though.

A lot of pokemon have a lot of counters. Landorus can outrun his checks with Rock Polish, overpower his counters with Swords Dance, or just U-Turn out.

Just support Landorus well, and he has a lot going for him.

Landorus is a beast, i even use him sometimes on my HAIL team because i see SS alot and always want to have a ready troll to make them wish otherwise, and if they dont get it up he's still pretty boss

Surprise! It's Calm Mind Landorus, here to unmercifully beat up your switch-in Ferrothorn!

Landorus @ Absorb Bulb
Ability: Sheer Force
Nature: Timid
EVs: 252 SpA, 252 Spe, 4 HP

-Calm Mind
-Earth Power
-Extrasensory
-HP Fire

Wow, this set sucks, 3.14kachu. It's terrible. I mean, why would you want to be able to survive Ice Beams from Porygon2s and HP [Ice]s from Heatrans? Why would you use Landorus's absolutely horrendous base 115 SpAtk stat, just to gain the element of surprise and have only of the best special sweepers that works well in sandstorm? Seriously, 3.14kachu, you're such a noob.

^ Run Earth Power / HP Ice / Focus Blast. It gets much better coverage overall and devastates its counters. I'm not sure what Absorb Bulb does but you probably would do better with Life Orb, Lum Berry, Expert Belt or something like that.

Well, I just figured that Landorus attracts Water moves like a magnet, so it might be a good idea to raise your SpA by another stage that way, especially if you can build up the SpDef to withstand a Surf or 2.

But yeah, I agree that Life Orb is the way to go.

I don't like that set. Not only are water moves more common ways to deal ways to deal with Landorus in my experience, Ferrothorn really dislikes taking Earthquakes. +2 Stone Edge can also 2HKO Skarmory. Besides, now Gliscor can Ice Fang you.

Other than dealing with Bronzong with a bit more reliability, I just really don't think this set is all that great. Earth Power is less powerful than Earthquake too. You can even use HP Fire > HP Ice on the Rock Polish or Sub Landorus sets to deal with physical Skarm too. A 2HKO is nice while they can't touch you back.

In other words, I just think CM Landorus isn't worth it.

Yeah, water moves are more common. That's why I have an Absorb Bulb.

Earth Power is less powerful than Earthquake too.

Not with sheer force. With sheer force Earth Power has a base power of 104.
