Most people are willing to accept Waterflower as Misty's surname, because of that episode. Heck, I didn't even realise it was non-canon 'til this thread.

Eric Stuart said that Brock's last name is Harrison, but I don't think he was ever involved with writing...but then, I think he *was* involved with directing.

There's also Jon Dickson, winner of the Johto tournament and named after someone at 4Kids...also Dee Dunstan, *also* named after someone at 4Kids.

There's also Felina Ivy and the rest of the professors, although I think she and Oak are the only ones to get *first* names.

And let's not forget the Hales from movie 3, and Mr White from movie 4.

I don't think the characters need last names, they're less linked and more unique that way.

Plus you just KNOW the dubbers would run out of names and we'd start to get really cheesy rubbish names.

Why would it be the dubbers any more than if they started giving more surnames in Japanese?

"The Water Flowers" was two words. It obviously wasn't her last name.

Nobody's mentioned that a key one-shot character in each of the last two movies was given both a first and last name, both in English and Japanese: Kid Summers and Jack(ie) Walker.

Though Brock is no doubt NOT Brock Stone, there IS Steven Stone and Mr. Stone, the Hoenn champion and the president of the Devon corporation, though I'm sure you would already know that.
