Latios or Alakazam.

Alakazam is stronger but latios can last longer in battle. I can't decide on a decent psychic pokemon.

Well, Latios is cool and all, but that's kinda the easy way out. If you feel like playing it fair and challenging yourself, go with Alakazam:

I choose Alakazam. Yeah, its worst defense make it can't be longer in battle, but it almost can faint every Pokemon in the first turn.

Then use Alakazam. You can't use legendaries in the Battle Frontier...
And you don't need to get to South Island to get Latios. You can just choose blue when your 'mom' asks you in your house after you defeat the Elite Four. But if you chose red...then...too bad.
In my opinion, use Latios for everything. But since it's for the Battle Frontier... Can't use it then, use Alakazam.

Latios! i trained A Latias for the BF, and it pwns! And the Latis are almost the same. Latios has a base SA stat of 130, and Alakazam has one of 135, which is really close.
