LeagueShipping (Richie+Ash), clearly the most logical

Ok ok ok. Most people would agree that Misty likes Ash, but Ash is clearly a homosexual. He likes the fellas. I believe that Ash originally had it hot for Gary, but as we know, Gary would have none of that. In the beginning, Ash was too weak for him. And besides I’m not convinced Gary is gay. Anyway, Ash really fell out of love with Gary when he saw him loose in the indigo league. This is when Richie enters the picture—coincidence, I think NOT. Ash fell in love with him immediately.

Ash and Richie spent a beautiful night under the stars together. I remember a scene in which they were tracing an Onix Constellation in the sky (let us do a Freudian analysis of that!!!) Ah, but as we know, one cannot become a Pokemon master by settling down; thus, Richie and Ash had to part in a typical sunset scene.

:0 Oh my god I think my head just exploded into many tiny pieces. Leagueshipping is my Satoshi OTP, and I honestly see it a lot more than Palletshipping, as Shigeru is just too mature, intelligent and arrogant for Satoshi.

I honestly think Satoshi is far from just heterosexual (he seems more aesexual than anything). He doesn't seem to have much interest in girls (aside from Gizelle ; ) but is seriously all over boys. I don't think that makes him gay, exactly, but it's stupid to deny that he's more clingy toward males than females.

But...NEE leagueshipping. x_x it's my favorite satoshiship~ ever.

And here it is, the first annoying post of a fanatic Pokeshipper butting in. I'll try to stay reasonable though.

Untill so fare, you made a good point. But let us consider certain things in the way of this romance:
-The dubbing mob: They once banned an episode because they enlarged James breasts with Pokeballs. So even if Ash and Richie get together, there's no way the dubbers will ever air the episode in which this happens.

-The American Government: Last spotted when chasing Spongebob Squarepants, because he promoted homoseksuality. How will they react when another cartoon star has his coming out?

I think you'll like the first reason.

(Note, that I myself do not have a problem with homoseksuality. Where I live, it is regarged just as normal as heteroseksuality, and I think it should be all over the world.)

Let's not. Freud's theories are fossils, not only proven to be wrong, but designed to cover up the fact the're wrong. Like Popper said, there's now way to falsify them, which makes it worthless as a scientific theory. However, if you can do a cognitive analyses, you'd have my attention.

Point duly noted. Freudian Psychoanalysis is a thing of the past, but Freudian Interpretation (i.e. Criticism/Analysis of Literature/Film/Art/Etc) is still alive and thriving. It’s still a popular method of interpretation in scholarly journals. I just read a new article on Henry James’s Turn of the Screw that used that method. Plus it’s just pain fun to look for phallic symbols. You have to admit without Freud’s pioneering—as crazy as some of his ideas were—there would most likely be no Cognitive Theories. I myself like Humanist Theories. Abraham Maslow is a major hottie.

Anyway, you have yet to convince me that Ash and Richie don’t belong with each other. So they have some obstacles. If you don’t mind, I still think the last episode of Pokemon will be Ash and Richie moving to Vermont and adopting a bunch of kids. ::said in a tone that connotes drollness::

Indeed, it is sometimes funny to look for things that can be interpreted in a naughty Freudian way. And I'm a humanist myself. I study at Erasmus University, named after one of the first humanists. Maslow's OK, but I'm more of an education adept, so I go for Vygotsky.

And well, I need some convincing too, to your direction that is. Ash and Ritchie do seem quite close during the Indigo league, but don't forget that at that point they're eleven year olds. A time when most kids prefer being with and talking to same sex peers. In fact, this separation from the other sex may be exactly what makes them hetero, according to the Exotic Becomes Erotic (ERE) theory, which states that when hormones begin to rage, people will get interested in the sex that is Exotic or strange for them, the one they haven't got to know yet. Ash and Richie seem a lot less close during their encounter in Jotho, in which they are assumed to be four- to fifteen.

Oh, by the way, the word confused didn't mean to refer to Ash and his sexual preference. It was supposed to suggest that if anyone felt confused by what I just said, they should check out the site. Like this:

Oh. I see. (I'm a little slow sometimes). Richie is no girl LOL. Richie's voice in PC will most likely be more manly because a male (Dan Green) will be providing the voice. As for your "they weren't as close in Jotho argument," Richie was the person Ash seemed most concerned about after he came to in that cage. Besides, they had less ALONE time like they had in the Indigo eps. Ash can't make his move with Misty around. She'd be crushed. He doesn't want to hurt her feelings because, after all, Misty is the Grace to his Will.

Hm, I took a second look at the episodes. They don't mention Ash looking out for Ritchie first. If he did, it could always be a random thing, since Ritchie is next to him in the cage. I don't really see him grabbing Ritchie by the shoulders and desperately asking if he's all right, like he did to a certain redheaded girl in the episode "Island of the giant Pokemon". If he had done something like that to Ritchie, there would be no denying that it's a hint.

And actually, they do have some time alone during the episodes. How about their little scuba-diving adventure. Would have been the perfect place for a little touchy-feely, with Misty gone and Ritchie in that nice tight scuba gear. So why didn't Ash seize this opportunity?

Finally, if there's any Will and Grace in Pokemon, it's Jesse and James, not Misty and Ash.

By the way, what's taking Alfonso so long to find this thread? He was a leagueshipper long before this thread was created. Do any of his sixsome buddies know what's keeping him?

Well the fact of the matter remains, Ash didn't hightail it over to Misty when she was hurt. If he was in love with her, he would have wanted to be by her side while she was unconscious. Instead, he chose to remain by Richie’s side.

I actually don’t think James is gay (even though I recently posted a tread with that “flaming Moltres” clip). Wow. Alfonso is a leagueshipper. I had no idea.

Mmm...while Leagueshipping is by far my Satoshi OTP, I really think it's hard to say that "so and so in in love with so and so" in Pokemon (sans Takeshi's testosterone-charged crushes), unless it's either outright said, or hinted at with the customary blushes and obvious clues.

But, the Indigo episodes were downright SLASHY. Even subtle things, like one scene where they're looking up at the sky, and two stars twinkle simultaneously, the sunset scene, and the fireworks. It's honestly just so *sweet* how close they got in such a short time.

I do have to admit though, that the 3 Hiroshi-in-Jouto episodes were a little...Lacking. >.> but well...by the time we got to Master Quest, Jouto itself was lacking all-around (except for when Shigeru and Satoshi become friends again. ; ; so sweet.)

XD Where *is* Alfonso!? He was the first person I ever stumbled across who mentioned this ship (besides me. I've liked it ever since I read the manga about a year or two ago~)
