Aye, some weird idea came to me one day, so I jotted it down. Go ahead and throw the criticism.
Prologue
Trees are gossips. They pass secrets, as dark or dangerous as they may be, through their rich bark and bountiful leaves. The message rustles as the wind pushes it towards another. Yet there is one place where all this is unknown...

A figure ran around the village, panting as he jumped over the river and landed on a platform that protruded from the ground above the surface. His blond hair blew back as he approached a large and hollow tree stump, which was also his best friend's house. It was with this friend that he shared a deep and dark secret.
His friend welcomed him. She was spirited and youthful in her voice, yet being a Kokiri, she was immortal, and she had been in the world for many generations. Her skin was smooth as a newborn baby's. Her eyes were cheerful and blue, and wisdom has worked his way in them. Her hair was blonde and long. She wore a pine-green headband and the usual uniform of a Kokiri; there was a tunic and shorts, with sturdy leather boots that were as brown as the tree trunks themselves.
The boy spoke. "Good morning, Karen."
Karen nodded back, and her friend took a seat. "Thanks for visiting, Link."
Link winced. "Please don't use that name when no one is here!"
"I'm sorry, you just look the same as your ancestor, the great Hyrule hero, Link. So, anything you need? Or do you want to hear more stories of your idol?"
Link nodded eagerly. He adjusted his green cap and shifted around on the tree stump he sat on, and Karen began to weave a bit of history together.
"Outside of this forest, there is a fabulous world. Bigger and more beautiful than anything you have ever seen. We Kokiri die if we go into this place, but Link wasn't a Kokiri; he just lived with us after his mother died saving him. He ventured out at your age to save the world. But first, he had business.
"In that world, there were ferocious monsters that he later rid of, but they attacked him on his journey. He acquired a shield and wield a hidden sword. He went to the Deku Tree that flourished before the one, and rid him of the curse the evil man put on him."
Link listened with glistening and wide eyes. Karen acted out every creature. Her arms were the jaws of a Deku Plant. They snapped sharply and lunged at you with their big mouths and long stems. She hissed like a spider's scuttling and roared and stomped like the giant insect boss, Gohma. Her acting out frightened Link, but not negatively. His one shone with excitement as she pretended to slash at Gohma's eye with a sword.
"When he won the battle, The Great Deku Tree had already been killed, and before he died, he gave our sacred stone to Link for his quest to save Hyrule. After that, he left."
Karen wiped sweat from her forehead and grinned. "Saria gave him the Ocarina as he left as a good-bye present."
"Who's Saria?"
Link could see eyes welling up in his friend's eyes. "She-she became a hero, but sacrificed her Kokiri life to do so. She was a great and wise friend of mine, but in fact a greater friend to Link."
Link nodded. He stared into the wall. "Karen?"
"Hm?"
"Are you sure my secret is safe?"
Karen stood behind him. "I know that for sure. The trees here are honest and true, just like our Great Deku Tree."
Link nodded, but he was still uncertain. What if anyone found out?
The ground shook and some of Karen's possessions spilled and shattered on the floor. A echoing growl was heard outside and something was flailing. Link, Karen, and the rest of the Kokiri children ran to the Deku Tree, crying in fear, but the ghoul of nightmare had attacked them as they saw so.
Their beloved tree had been uprooted, and it lay on its side, cold, gray, and motionless. The children huddled, terrified as a centaur-like monster stomped about, screeching. His red eyes had a scary power to inflict nightmares. He was three times the size as any of the children.
Link's eyes met the centaurs. He saw images flash in his mind, but unlike the other children, he did not blink.
"How dare you uproot our father!" Link raged. He was furious that someone would do something this dishonorable and dangerous without caring.
The centaur glared at him. Link brought out his slingshot.
His battle had begun.
