legendary pokemon?

What pokemen do you consider legendary? The top ones are pretty much legendary as they have said they are. But what about the ones in the bottom? I have had this discussion and I think that the ones at the far bottom are legendaries. Whiles the ones in the middle I’m not so sure…

Im not sure on other people's opinions, but I don't really think of Deoxys as a Legendary. Not sure why. It's no legend or anything and it's a space germ/virus/etc.

Anyways, Regirock, Regice, Registeel, Latios, Latias, and Rayquaza are legendary. I wouldn't consider Snorlax a legend. Maybe Aerodactyl might fit the description. Maybe Anorith, Armaldo, Lileep, and Cradily as well. I guess Dragonite and Salamance might be good canidates.

Although, I already like it the way it is.

*Deoxys - Becaause it is an Experiment, they put DNA of Jirachi into a Human, therefore being Half Jirachi and Half Human, Therefore being Man Made and NOT a legendary
*Lugia - Because it has Children, Therefore not being one of a kind, therefore not being legendary
*Latias and Latios - Because Latias is the Female and Latios is the Male, if you have seen the 5th Movie you would know that there has been a latias and a latios before and that there are even more latias and latios if you saw it in the credits
*Mewtwo - It was Manmade

Legendary (in the games, at least) is considered to be PKMN that can only be gotten once, or there is only one of. I don't think this is the case in the anime. because I don't think Noland has the one and only Articuno, otherwise he'd be pretty famous.

Some people think Arcanine is legendary as well.

Legendaries =/= One of a kind
Lugia is still legendary by being able to have a incredible power and forcing it to live undersea. Latias and latios was also statued as 'the guardians of AltoMare', and they're legendary by the people there. But unlike Arcanine, Lati@s possess legendary powers/abilites. Arcanine's superfast speed is barely legendary

And about the anime, I don't think that there being more than one of a species stops it from being legendary. Articuno, for example, is clearly legendary but there is more than one of it.

deoxys is either man made or alien made. its dex said it was a little space virus, just a protozoa, when it was hit by a laser beam; and mutated into the superintelligent deoxys. it does not say the origin of the beam....spoooky.

mew is considered legendary because:

1) they live forever
2) they are the root of every pokemon INCLUDING legendaries
3) they were all hunted to extinction or were killed off in an ice age, so there is but 1.

Arcanine is based on a legend, he's not a legendary. If he was, Drowzee would be too. He's based on the Indian Myth of Baku.
Aerodactyl is probably the ancient Lati@s/Lugia/Ho-Oh. I guess Aerodactyl was a legendary a million years ago, not now.
Deoxys and Mewtwo aren't legendaries, because they are 'made'.
Lugia is a legendary, though. It's about the games, and in the games Lugia don't have a child! If we believe what the anime says, then Pikachu would be as strong as an Uber >.<

Ok so not only Drowsee or Arcanine are based on legends... there are billions (ok so maybe not that much) of pokemon out there that are based on legends of different cultures... but we are not getting into that since this is not the threads main purpose...

Well IMO i think legendary means a pokemon that is one of a kind, great power, it has to play a strong role for it to become a legend, it has to be from nature itself, otherwise it wouldn't serve its purpose...

Latios/Latios: Guardian of the sea...
Ho Oh/Entei/Raikou/Suicune: elements....
Lugia/Zapdos/Articuno/Moltres: protect the islands...
Mew: The beginning of pokes
Rayquaza/Kyogre/Groudon: The air/sea/water
Regis: Protectors of something (^.^; cant remember what)
Jirachi: The fate/wish
Celebi: Protector of forest/time

Mewtwo is man made... and doesn't represent anything, If Mewtwo didnt exist, the world would be the same... It serves no purpose...
Arcanine, Aerodactyl, Snorlax, Tyranitar, Dragonite... are pretty much the same thing, they serve no purpose to the poke world...
