Pokemon anime staff: Alright, we got ourselves another Pokemon movie plot with MORE racism towards humans!

Not really racism when Pokemon and humans are completely different species....

Even if it is alluded that humans and pokemon were once one in the same.

man vs nature is one of the core basis ofr all stories. It just makes sense and is all too common for Game Freak to use humans as the driving force for Pokemon conflict and vice versa.

In that case, it's speciesism.

Gotta love the "nice job breaking it humans" feel of Hisuian Zorua/Zoroark's backstory.

Regular Zorua/Zoroark don't use their illusions for malice, mostly just for staying out of trouble and occasional mischief. But since the humans of the past feared them and drove them away, Hisuian Zorua/Zoroark began to resent the humans, and actively caused harm to any one they saw.

So wait, did they go extinct in Sinnoh because the humans came to love them, thereby taking away a source of malice?

"These Zorua migrated to the Hisui region after being driven from other lands by humans, who shunned the Pokémon for manifesting uncanny illusions. But the Zorua perished, unable to survive the harsh Hisuian environment and strife with other Pokémon. Their lingering souls were reborn in this Ghost-type form through the power of their malice toward humans and Pokémon."

Humans drove them out of Unova (and elsewhere), the harsh climate and Pokémon of Hisui drove them to perish.

You know that could also explain why you can’t find wild Unovan Zorua and Unovan Zoroark in Unova outside of events even though it’s a gen 5 Pokémon.

Although that does make me wonder, since Unovan Zorua seem to thrive in Alola but fail in Hisui despite having a thick coat of fur... Maybe it's because Alola has a lot of Ghost- and Psychic-types and not as many fully evolved Bug- or Fighting-types in the dex (adjusted for dex size)?

Despite debuting in Unova, the Zoroark line might be native to another region rather than Unova.

I think they're asking why there aren't any Zorua/Zoroark in Sinnoh today, including this alternate form.

The same could (and should) be asked of any Hisuian form.

Extinction.

Wyrdeer needs specific environment conditions to evolve, with urbanization and climate change it can no longer do so.

Basculegion comes after absorbing the souls of fallen Basculin, if all Basculin died out or were fished completely from the wild there could no longer be any Basculegion. I also assume they have the power to evolve here too due to the presence of Giratina's power within the region.

Braviary says it goes back and forth from Hissui to winter from a more northern region, most likely the Russian equivalent of the Pokemon world due to it being based off of the Stellar's Sea Eagle which does the exact same thing in real life. Hissuian Braviary either ended up adapting completely to live in the Russian region or they simply died out due to harsh environments. Either way, they stopped coming back to Hissui/Sinnoh

Growlithe dex stats it doesn't like people which is usually opposite to its protective and loyal nature of its original form. They most likely were befriended, domesticated and bred with Kantonian Growlithe and the Hissuian form was just lost.

Kleavor evolved from Scyther due to specifc mineral deposits it needed, with the heavy mining presence in Sinnoh it is most likely this specifc mineral was over-mined and is now very rare or gone from the region.

Zoroark I honestly feel like they just died out. They were pushed to live in the harshest place in Sinnoh and most likely unable to adapt further do to their spite. As well as not looking like the most well adapted variant to begin with.

Speaking of which, it brings up the question whether or not you can transfer in regional forms if the Pokemon can be found in this game originally. We do see Galarian Weezing in design as a smokestack in the same way Fletchling was a weathervane and they still made it into the game.

Be fun to have a Perrserker with you.

Just because a Pokemon is event/gift-only does not mean it doesn't exist in the wild.
Though it could be implied early Unovains were pretty bad at driving off Zoroark if they exist in the wild they inhabit areas largely inaccessible by humans. The only wild(?) Zoroark in BW is the one tied to the shiny Legendary Beasts event so it could be Lostlorn Forest is their habit in Unova (but where they live cannot be accessed).

I think thats pretty much the case, since Lostlorn is always tied to Zoroark being found there.

They could even be around in modern days Sinnoh, hiding from humans through illusions. We also interact with a ghost inside one house in Route 217 that could be one of these Pokémon.
