Legends: Arceus - General Speculation/Discussion Thread

That's silly but... I hope that the games allow us to have the character be able to jump.

No particular reason. I just want to see the character jumping lol
I hope we get to climb and maybe even swim. Always found it so weird how there’s always some roundabout path to a cliff instead of us just climbing it.

What if, in order to get Arceus showing up, we have to find/battle a big boss-like pokemon to get all the plates. And bring them all in a place and fight Arceus.
The bosses will be different each time like 2 batlle to pokemon at the same time, find and catch this pokemon with a low catching rate....
There are 17 plates so we ll have a lot to do
There are 18 plates actually. Maybe one for a Type specialist to fight for (aka Gym Leaders, Elite Four and Evil Team) ? And later a final boss (aka Champion) for the Azure flute?

This is pretty easily becoming my most anticipated Pokemon game in a while, purely because of the idea of what this game represents. Even if it's a rather short game, I think that it'll be an interesting taste of what we might get in the future. In a lot of ways, I could see us getting a game with more of a mission structure where the professor has us going to various landmarks or (hopefully) settlements in order to best catalogue the dex and uncover the history of the region. I'm thinking something relatively like a ranger game (at least what I remember of those) at first, going around and helping on a number of jobs before uncovering something bigger that'll likely tie to the story. Maybe we'll get something like an unofficial version of Alola's island challenge with big/unique wild Pokemon bosses that lead us to certain things like the plates others have discussed. I'm pretty sure that the lake trio and other legends must have some part to the story too as we get farther along.

I'm not sure if this will involve an early version of Team Galactic, but that would be an interesting twist given how similar the protagonists look to Lucas and Dawn.

It'll also be interesting to see where exactly the village is that we start. I figure it needs to likely be close to the water somewhere so the settlers have the ability for water travel to other regions. Maybe around what turns into Canalave City, Sandgem Town, or Jublife City?

What makes you think Pokeballs weren't made out of wood the whole time.

Did you ever actually held on in your hand?
Well, i assumed pokeballs were made of metal. But apricorn berries were used for pokeballs, so fair point, i think.

How about, just not to Galar then. Since the Wood Pokeballs aren't programmed in. They could add the Wood pokeballs to the D/P remakes and future games if they want.

No there are 17 plates, Arceus being normal type there is no normal plate

And also for the screenshots leak, the shadow in the middle is not a pokemon but the character climbing (it s written in japanese yama noburi = mountain climbing) and the 3rd one is a pokemon flying with the character under it so we can climb and get flying transportation

You are right, my bad:)

Still 17 fights for 17 plates and a final one for the Azure flute seems just right :)

This looks very promising to me and interests me way more than the remakes, since they're trying something new and that's what I wanted to see. The concept already looks interesting, Feudal/Edo (Can't tell which) Sinnoh and you're tasked with making the first Sinnoh Pokedex; looking forward to finding out more about this.

I guess you could call this the Sinnoh "Pre-make". (I'll see myself out)...

If I recall, we already had some pretty blurry screenshots showing a mysterious Pokemon being ridden, a trainer climbing a mountain, and a trainer flying on a mysterious Pokemon as well.

I'm confused...

If Legends happens before the technological turn in Pokémon, then... how come they used modern pokéballs? Weren't there analog versions before?

There's a scene in the 4th Pokémon movie in which Sammy gets a normal-sized ball (without it growing to size), turned a knob and released a Charmeleon.

The game looks good. And I love the idea of Pokemon set in a historical time period.

Though...what I need to know...is the battle system turn based or real time? Because I don't like real time battle systems all that much.

Those aren't modern pokeballs, they're ones made of wood that produce steam when the Pokemon is caught.

Its been disconcerned from the players wardrobes, setting of Sinnoh and the use of steam powered Pokeballs that this takes place in Hokkaido's (sinnoh) Meiji Restoration era. Where Hokkaido was being industrialized and developed. Putting these games somewhere between 1868 and 1912.

The pokeball we see Oak use was either the prototype of the modern pokeball we know today or just a model during his childhood years until the creation of the modern pokeball. Either way the Old Ball as it is called is stated to have been created 40 years prior to the modern pokeball. Placing it in the 1950s.

But because Kurt the ball maker says that he was making apricorn pokeballs 40 years ago, the old ball could have been a homemade attempt at a modern mechanical pokeball by Oak.

I think that just comes down to lighting, nothing indicates it is an ice type (no ice horn or any other distinct features).
It wasn’t the lighting, other videos and sites all say it’s definitely intentional and not regular rhyhorns. It also could be made of Crystal; not Ice.
