LEGO Star Wars 2

At IGN.com, there has been specualtion and almost confirmation that there will be a sequel to the best selling LEGO Star Wars, based during the original trilogy. I personally loved the first game and would love there to be a sequel.

Here's the source.

Also, I feel if this game is just like the original but with SERIOSLY cool extras (ie. a Death Star mode where you control the Death Star and blow up planets. Or a Create-A-Character mode etc) this game could be very nice. The original trilody was way better than the prequels and, this is highly unlikely, but if Lucas is planning to make VII, VIII & IX they could insclude a seacret level set at the first part of VII. That last bit is VERY unlikely though.

Well, what do you think?

P.S. Oh yes, and here's some scans of a magazine with few pictures ect.

If this is true it is excellent news to hear, Lego Star Wars was too short in terms of story. But what it lacked in length it made up for with fun, cuteness and the extra character options, a longer story would be very much appreciated though.

But was it not a given that a sequel would be made considering they only did the first three films?

A LEGO Star Wars 2 would be quite nice, but I hope they quadruple the length or something. I hope they keep the collectable models. I also hope they put it on Gamecube, and preferably along with the other 3 versions.

I agree, a sequel to Lego Star Wars would be awesome. It was one of the most underrated games of all time. Sure it had far below average lenghth but it made up for it in sheer fun. Hopefully they add a large amount of replay value and some really awesome boss fights (can't wait to fight Jabba). A PSP version of this game would also be cool, considering it's game line-up, although decent, needs a couple more "killer-apps".

Very happy to hear this game is getting a sequel, but I wouldn't say the first one was underrated. It sold a suprising amount, reaching the classic range on all consoles, and it was even originally released as a budget game, due to it being very short and incredibly easy.

Still a great game though, insanely fun, I've been hoping for a sequel since the first one was released. Now we just need a Knights of the Old Republic 3.

With the amount of games it sold to older gamers hopefully they'll incorporate a harder skill level with the sequel

Mush! Mush!
I liked the original but I personally didn't like the Pixel Shader thing it pulled on us. It didn't work on a heap of GeForce cards people had and... Ugh. Gameplay was a bit short and some parts were a bugger thanks to the strange angle it gives you sometimes.

However, LSW2 might be alright. But I'm definitely not buying it until I replace my video card. :p

Eep, does this mean a Legoified battle of Hoth? I hope as hell so.

I'm still puzzled at how Lego Star Wars sold so many copies. I'm not saying it's not great, it was awesome and I loved it, but I don't think it's something any random person who walks by would pluck off the shelves.

Or maybe it is. I dunno...

Right, now it HAS been officially confirmed that LEGO Star Wars 2 will be made. Here's the link.

http://cube.ign.com/articles/687/687343p1.html

and here's some info.

- The game will be called "LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy" (great name -.-)
- The game will feature over 50 characters from the original trilogy HOWEVER, if the player inserts the memory card from LSW 1, all the characters unlocked will be transferred across making a possibility of a whopping 100 playable characters!!!
- The game will feature a custom character mode allowing the play to make a character with pieces they collect along during the game. This character can be used in Free Play mode and, it has been confirmed, at the last test it was possible to make over 1 million characters with this function.
- The game will be for PS2, Xbox, GC, GBA, PSP, PC and DS. All will feature a 2-player co-op mode like the original apart from the DS version, which will have a 4-player co-op mode and a single cart download option.
- The game will not be online
- The DS version will use the touch screen for only selection and the build-a-character mode, not for game play.
- Vehicles will no longer be "on the rails" control as in they are now able to go anywhere and not have to follow a specific course. They can also be mounted and dismounted on most levels at any time with ANY non-droid character being able to drive ANY vehicle. Also, in Free Play, any vehicle can be used at any time. For example, a speeder bike can be used for flying down the Death Star trench.
- Force powers have been included as well as special melee attacks like Chewbacca pulling the enemies arms out of their sockets.
- The "base" equivalent for this game is the Mos Eisly Cantina (sorry if that's spelt wrong)
- Once a mini kit is built, the player can use it as a vehicle in special bonus levels unlocked at the end of each episode.

I'm very excited about this one. Looks AMAZING! There are images at the bottom of the article in the link.
