Should I? I let him evolve a minute ago (without saving) and noticed that his defense went to crap and his attack was very high. I would rather have his stats more even rather than his attack 170 and his defense 100. In my opinion a Shelgon is better than a Salamence, because it has much better balanced stats. What are your opinions?

I would choose salamance, but everyone does. Maybe just keep it a shelgon.

Well, on tv I saw Drake use a Shelgon and his strategy was the best. He allowed the opponent to attack and then after a few turns, used full strength and destroyed the pikachu. Anyway, once it evolves, it's defense is very bad, so it is almost like a sharpedo (in a way) High attk, low def.

Games =/= Anime.

Salamence > Shelgon.

Shelgon has 180 less base stat totals than Salamence and would be a rubbish tank.

So what it's got 100 base defence. Dusclops has 130. AND 130 Special Defense. Overall, Shelgon won't damage anything, die easily, and there are much better tanks out there.

Don't deny the guy his dream to fly. Evolve him.

I saw that, but
Benefits of evolving,Your attack stats skyrocket, but if you don't evolve Shelgon, it get better defensive stats and it isn't 4x weak to Ice Beam since Shelgon is only dragon type, not dragon-flying

I like pie.
salamence is well equiped to do a lot of damage with it's attacks and stats. EV train it and you'll have one powerful dragon claw attack. i remember how much trouble i had with drakes salamence in the game.... took 3 pokemon to kill it.

yeh id evolve him. so what if the defense gets lowered a bit; with attack that good, let him take a hit and then sweep sweep sweep.

there lots of better defence pokemon , Steelix , Milotic , Regirock and Swampert are just a few who are wayyy better than him at it. Salamance is alot stronger and makes an awesome CBer and DDer.

shelgon has 00 total points.
salamence has 02 total points

but if you want a dragoind cacoon wanna B, its your choice

He has a couple good points, and a catchy slogan!, lol... The game is almost nothing like the anime, and Salamence is much better then Shelgon. I'd choose Salamence if I were you.

It's black magic!
I would evolve it. Salamence is much stronger than Shelgon and it's cooler looking. Besides Salamence has the very good 600 total base stats.

There are better tanks than Shelgon. Besides, you only loss 20 base stat in defense. If it was 40 or more, then it would be worth it. It gains special defense when Salamence needs to help it survive Ice and Dragon attacks.

I would definitely evolve it. Even though it has worse defence, its ability Intimidate reduces damage from physcial attacks.
