Let's say moves like Swift ignored subs...

Substitute is one of the most popular moves around, so here's a thinker: If Game Freak decided to change the game mechanics next generation and allow moves like Swift, Faint Attack, and Magical Leaf to bypass subs...

-Would this finally warrant their use?
-What would this do to the metagame?

All I know for sure is that subpunchers would have a harder time doing their thing and my good friends Ninjask, Sceptile, and Jumpluff would be utterly screwed over by Aerial Ace. I'm not much of a competitive battler, though, so I doubt I understand the full implications. Your thoughts?

Aerial Ace would be a bloody Standard =/ That is all.

Ugh. I'm tired of people around here whining abou how Substitute is so hard to beat and how it's ruining the metagame and how it's too broken and other shite like that. There are about a million counters for it, but people just like to complain about something. >____>;

Uh, I never said it was broken. I am fully aware of the counters and such.

This thread was made more as a way of speculating how to improve the "always hitting" attacks than anything. I like the idea behind them so much but they're just too weak to consider using most of the time. -_-

The always hitting attacks are fairy common anyway. Aerial Ace is the most common. Magical Leaf and Shock Wave get used occasionally too. imo there are Pokemon that need to be improved a lot coughluvdisccough.
