Link cable, cartridge, or console??

Me and my friend were trading pokémon from one cart to another today as one cart was going to get reset. We were using Saphire and Leaf Green, both with completed files, ie Hall of Fame records..

However once the game was saved in the pokécentre a text box came up saying something along the lines of "Please wait, press B to cancel" and this lasted for half an hour untill we did press B.

In the end we traded from one cart to XD to the other. Which was laborious.

Has anyone else experienced this? I'm sure Saphire and LG are compatible, it may have been the cable or the consoles as they hadn't been used in a while.

I just wondered if anyone has had a similar problem and how they resolved it.

I used to have this problem all the time. At one time, I moved the different game boys around in odd places and it worked. Eventually I just bought a new link cable because I got fed up with it.

Which kind of link cable is it? I have a Pelican one, that can either be used for GB or GBA. It came out when the GBA was first released, and works like a charm.

However, if you intend on getting a new one, get a standard Nintendo one. I'd gather the company that makes the system would best know how to make the cable.

I'm not too sure what kind, I'd have to ask him.

I think he mentioned getting a new cable maybe... Jiggling the GBAs came to mind but I couldn't be bothered...

Thanks for the help guys.

Any time you have to "jiggle" the cables that means that the cable is broken and jiggling it reconnects the wire within..... It is quite risky using one of these as it could shift slightly and loose connection... therefore messing up trades. Pelkin cables are notorious for this. Nintendo ones are better but don't bend the cable as this causes it to easily break. Always wind the cable up in a circle and they'll last longer.
