Hi, I'm having a bit of a problem linking my GBA to my Gamecube. I'm using Emerald in my GBA and I'm saved at a pokemon centre, but it keeps cancelling the connection to it just before it's done. It says it failed to connect to my GBA. Is there something I'm doing wrong? I also tried it with Sapphire and a different GBA but it's the same thing. Thanks in advance for help

In XD, the cable is more sensitive, so try to don't touch it during the conection. My friend had the same problem.

Did you droped it often? Try insering the cable deeper in the slot.If it won't work, check the cable connection. Meh, able to trade :/

I am assuming you have completed the game...??
cos if you haven't you cant link up...

Mabie there is a problem with your wire??
You could go buy a new one to teat this... They are really cheap to buy.
Also you could try the connection on another Gamecube game (eg Metroid Fusion to Metroid Prime), just to see if you have a problem with that game.

I think I figured out the problem. The manual said it might not work if I don't have an official Nintendo GBA to GC cable...and I don't. wow I got screwed over by them...

Thanks to everyone who tried to help, I'll buy the official cable and see if it works.

ok ok plz plz if u get it .. post here and tell me if it works .. im having the same problem

Just buying the official cable won't cure your problems. There are reasons to this problem that aren't spontaneous. Unlike someone said earlier, there really is no such problem with link cable sensitivity across games.

You need to have the National Dex in Emerald for this to work. You get the National Dex by beating the Elite Four the first time. If somehow you already have the National Dex and it still isn't working, you've either hacked your game with GS/AR/CB or your copy of the game is illegal.

Have you tried blowing in each one of the holes on the wire and on the game systems? That always seems to work for me. More than like ly there's just a lot of dust in there and you should just blow it out. But if you don't want to get condersation on the inside of your ports, I would suggest using one of those air blowers that blow out stuff in your computer. Just don't use one that is bad for the ozone.

Well, I just found out from a close friend of mine who just got pokemon XD that he also has a madcatz gamelink cable and he can trade fine. I used an air can to clean all the ports, have the national dex, purified all shadow pokemon and nothing has been sharked at all. The cable I have works fine with other games and I'm all out of ideas as to why I can't trade.

It happened to me too, and I had an official cable. Just go really slow with it, and make sure you aren't pressing two buttons at the same time.

Turn your Gameboy on after it says saving in XD.. I guess you could try to turn it on when the TV finishing telling you to turn on the Gameboy?

You could try to turn off the Gamecube or something. Dunno. Try different days and stuff.

I use regular batteries and it doesn't work for me. maybe our second port on our gamecubes is defective.
