Location location....

Simple question - what's the canon say about how Kanto, Johto and Hoenn are situated in relation to each other? I know from GSC that Johto is to the west of Kanto and there's the connection path around... route whatever it was... (and failing that, the train) but how does Hoenn join on to those and where? Is there a complete 'international' map I can view of all three regions? Your help is appreciated.

I don't know about a complete international map, but I know that the Sevii Islands are southeast of Kanto and Hoenn is somewheres south of both Johto and Kanto. Orre could be pretty much anywheres, I'm afraid.

So, to recap: Sevii southeast, Hoenn south. Hoenn doesn't join to the other two at all.

I saw a map once in the General Pokemon dscussion forum. It displayed all the regions, and yeah, Hoenn was set apart from the other two regions, southwest-ish.

Also, Johto is to the West of Kanto, it may have been a typo, but I thought I'd let you know.

I suggest either searching for the map in the GPD board, or make a new topic there, you should be able to find one that way.

We're talking game terminology here, correct?

Corsola's Silver Pokedex entry also hints at some clues to Hoenn's location:

In a south sea nation, the people live in communities that are built on groups of these Pokemon.

Pacifidlog Town is said to be built on top of a Corsola colony.

Kanto, Johto and Hoenn are actually all based on areas of Japan, with Johto being the heaviest in terms of recognizable landmarks (the numerous pagodas in Johto apparently have real-world equivalents). I used to have an image that illustrated this very well, but I don't know where I put it. T_T

Anyway, if you look at a map of Japan, the land around Tokyo looks suspiciously like Kanto, doesn't it? It's even called Kanto Prefecture in real life. =] Johto is right next to it, down to the small penninsula of land sticking out to the west.

Hoenn is generally agreed to be the island of Shikoku, to the southwest of the Tokyo area, but Shikoku is pretty close to other land bodies, which are conspicuously absent from the map in RSE, so possibly they're starting to reverse the trend. Orre is almost landlocked from what I remember, so maybe it's Mongolia or Northern China or something.

I remember something about a few parts of Orre being named after American places, such as Phenac being named after Phoenix, Arizona. So I'm guessing Orre is either east of Kanto or northeast of Johto, near Kanto.

Here's a computer-made map, if it'll help.

Hoenn is just a large island. I suppose you could put it wherever you want.
