Lonely Mother

The cries of fear and pain filled the air as he stood there watching, tears stung his eyes as he watched one by one fall. Shot down, captured, skinned and destroyed. So much death for a people who didn’t even believe in eating meat, and yet they were killed because of what they were.

“Mother… why?” the violet creature looked at the larger and older version. The female turned her saddened blue eyes towards the cub. She closed her eyes her shining tears dripping and falling onto the ground.

“Because I sinned.” She replied and placed her paw on the young cub. He nuzzled her and shut his eyes as her clung to his mother. She wasn’t his birth mother, but his mother all the same, as all of their kind came from her and thus she was apart of them.

“I don’t understand.” He replied. His blue eyes opening and looking at the female, the flouting pink creature turned and began to flout away bringing the younger cub. The tears continued to fall from both of them as the screams continued outside, beyond the holy walls of the temple.

“I… made a choice and now… now it has come for the price.” She sniffled as she tried not to sob, the pain and the suffering affecting her like no other being could ever understand. She could feel every death, every pain. Every fall of her family and the humans those were their allies. They were not a violent race, either of them, they did not know how to fight, and they did not know how to flee.

“Mother… is I going to die?” the young male cub asked, his blue eyes filled with sorrow but more curiosity followed. She could not hold back a sob now as she gripped the cub to her chest and sobbed, her dew tipped tail hanging low and grazing the tail. Her short arms clung to the child like he was the only thing keeping her alive.

“I’m sorry, Neo, I am so sorry. I felt sorry for man, as they were weak and dying out… I gave them the ability to choose, to think like we do, to have a will unlike any other beast other then my kind and those with immortal life.” She kissed his head as tears dripped from them.

“… but man was an experiment and like all first experiments… things go wrong, It has forgotten who it is and its purpose, they kill they destroy each other… and now us. Ho-oh warned me… she warned me…” a crack was heard and the mother of life raised her head her ears turning towards the noise.

“They are inside.” Neo gasped as he clung, the mother turned him away from the entrance which could not be seen as it was behind the hallway corner. The pink cat like creature sniffled before pulling the cub deeper into the temple dedicated to her species. She may lose her family, as punishment for giving man meaning, she may lose the humans that believed in her, but she would not lose her Neo. She would not lose him… he was innocent, how could the reaper take him as well?

She had stopped crying now as she pulled the smaller cub with her, taking him as deep into the temple tell she came to a large open room. The room was huge, decorated in great detail with stone tablets all around. At one side was a few steps then a large table to which was the alter where the people of this forest would come and praise there goddess by offers fruits and such.

Never blood sacrifices. She was a vegetarian, her whole race was. As she was life and thus could not take life, nor could her kind. At one corner there were many stones built up into a circle, and down it was a hallowed out hole which led to water, a well.

“Come Neo.” She pulled him as she flew for the well and down it with out a second thought. Seconds later they hit water but she did not stop, Neo barely able to get a breath of air before they were under. The pink and violet creatures flew through the well for what seemed the longest time, Neo feeling light headed as his lungs began to beg for air.

The cub was an orphan from the first outsider attack, he was young and innocent and had no idea what was going on. Why was his adopted mother taking the blame for the attacks? How come those creatures that were so much like the humans that lived with them killed their kind and anyone who got in the way? He shut his eyes wishing so badly to take a breath of air. Wishing to wake up from this nightmare wishing…

Gasp.

The two took in the fresh air as they appeared in a cavern, the pool of water stirred from the two creatures as they flouted up out of it and let the water drip off them back into the pool. Crystals grew everywhere and if it was not for the vision of these creatures it would have been pitch darkness. Once again the mother of life began to pull the cub into an opening in the wall and through it; they traveled in the darkness of the caverns for what seemed forever until finally…

Light.

The two shot out into the open, a field of wild flowers blowing in the wind. The bright colors hurt the younger creature’s eyes and he pulled his paw free from the pink one and rubbed them. While this happened the female looked around trying to think, looking a bit panicked as she knew they wouldn’t have much time.

She reached over and grabbed Neo and hugged him against her once more nuzzled the top of his head between the ears. His violet tail wrapped around hers and he began to purr a little.

“Are we safe?” he asked.

“… not yet, you must go on your own now. I can not abandon our home. I want you to go to the mountains and wait there tell I come for you. Live among the abras and kadabras, they will welcome you.”

“…Mother! No!” Neo cried looking up his ears filling with tears, he had lost all his friends and his parents all ready, and he would not lose his only family he had left! She shushed him though and ran a hand over his head.

“It is for the best, Neo.”

“B-but mother… what if they kill you? I don’t want you to die.” He whimpered.

She gave him a sad smile, as a part of her wished that threat were so, but nay, death could never come for her, for she was life that had no end. “Do not fear for me, Neo, they can not harm me… just as I can’t stop them. I am sorry I am so helpless…”

He buried his face in her chest and sobbed as she rubbed his back, he wanted to blame her for everything; he wanted her to pay for what had happened to everyone. He wanted to hate her…

But he couldn’t… she loved him and was so miserable. He couldn’t lose hope in her now.

She was life and life always found a way… didn’t it?

“Goodbye… mother.”

“Goodbye son.”

The violet cub began to flout away from the pink adult. Across the flower field and towards the mountains in the distance… he glanced back at her when he was almost all the way across, she watched him carefully, knowing she had to return soon to the others.

“I love you Neo.” She called to him.

“I love you too, mo-“

Bang.

Neo became very tired and soon fell asleep... and never woke up.

And she was alone… for a very long time.

Mew had given up everything so that man can live. If she had known the price it would take on her kind, if she had known that she was meant to be alone forever…

She would never have done it.

But she was life, and life never got to plan its future, it just had to survive off what was given. Sometimes it was cut short; sometimes it lived for a very long time… sometimes…

It’s alone…

Hundreds of years later, a temple stands in ruins as a creature flouts in the hallway in mourning over something new that had happened. She had left the only thing good that happened to her in such a long time.

He probably hated her now.

Wanted to destroy her for abandoning him for so long…. like she did her own people.

‘Mother?’

And she wasn’t alone anymore.

The end.

Aww, that was really cute. I almsot cried when Neo was killed. One question though. What exactly was Neo? An Espeon? I was having trouble figuring it out. Also, I found the end quite confusing, or maybe, you answered the question in the other fanfiction. Meh, I don't know. Anyway, very well written. I only found one or two minor errors in there. And the grammar was almost perfect too. *nods* Description was good and all that jazz as well. Well, anyway, I really enjoyed it and hope to see more from you soon (especially "Into My Woods" <,< >,>)!

Keep up the great writing!

He was a mew, I tried to not really use the term 'mew' in this. But yeah, Mew lost her people because she showed mercy to those who had been deemed 'inferior' and she payed for it via losing her race.

She gave humans a purpose and thus her peopel lose their purpose. Its confusing I guess but it was written late.

In the end she was alone.... until Mewtwo came.

I can't really write any of my main fics atm due to comp probs. Just hope I don't lose everything.

What a tragic, beautiful thing you've written here. Mew's sorrow, regret, and loneliness came across perfectly. I just wanna hug the poor kitty. And poor Neo, too, the little guy. ;-;

But she was life, and life never got to plan its future, it just had to survive off what was given. Sometimes it was cut short; sometimes it lived for a very long time… sometimes…

It’s alone…

...Wow. ;-;

Every time I have read something you have written that had anything to do with Mew, I have liked it very much. And this is no exception. ^^

Oh my gosh, Lady Myuu, this is beautiful. Sad, but beautiful.

This is better than the other one, though I didn't cry on this. I wanted to, but I couldn't. Poor Neo... Poor Mew...

This makes a bit more sense now. Hee hee, Mew adopted Neo. Cute! But if only he lived...

*hands cake and hugs* Nice work Lady Myuu. I'd post my favorite parts, but I'm almost out of time. (Stupid 30 minute time limit!) Well, I can't wait for more of your work!
