Only in the GBA games -- Magneton's cry changed in Ru/Sa. In R/B/Y and G/S/C, it sounds nothing like Haunter's.

Really? O.O I never would of thought they would change a cry. And if they did, I thought it would of been a minor change. :/ Live and learn, I suppose.

Horsea's and Persian's do too, Persian's cry is just an extended version of Horsea's.
I guess they just reuse/remix these cries so they can save the time and money coming up with new ideas.

The gameboy games had very limited memory, you could only fit so much on the cartridge, so they had to use only a few cries, but have them play differently for certain Pokemon. Nowadays they have tons of space and the cries sound a lot better and more diverse, try listening to the sounds of the old ones in Stadium or something, they sound better.
