*sigh*
I have been obsessed with shiny's ever since I caught my first (a ditto that later got deleted along with the game). But for the next two games the only one I got was a shiny pelipper.
Funny how I used pelipper in my first Ruby team, but now I realize how bad he is. And because it's evolved I can't even give it agility...
Anyway, my point is that even though Pelipper is very bad, I still love my shiny and want it to be a... original, if not amazing battler. Hence I don't really want to go with the boring "ice beam/surf/toxic/protect" that basically just advertises "I'm a crap pokemon, all I can do is toxic stall!"
So I was looking at all the different possibilities for Pelipper. Obviously egg moves, hidden power (mine is ghost, lol), IV's and even nature are out of the question. I would've made it a special sweeper with agility and ice beam/shockwave/surf, but of course, no wingull = no agility.
So here are 3 possibilites I came up with. They're not the "best" movesets for pelipper and are somewhat risky, but I'd like to know which of them, if any, is the most effective. This isn't really for ingame, more for battle frontier and maybe surprising other players I battle.
Set 1:
Pelipper@[not sure for item]
Trait:Keen eye (pure crap, of course)
EVs: Not sure yet
Nature: Automatically lonely... damn
-Swagger/Icy wind
-Rain dance
-Surf
-Shockwave/Ice beam
Basically you send him in, swagger or icy wind on the switch, then rain dance and attempt to sweep. With icy wind, it'll hopefully slow down most pokemon so that they only get 1 hit on pelipper when it rain dances. With swagger, on the other hand, they might hit you twice when you rain dance (they're probably faster), or they might hit themselves both times and do nothing. But with 100 base defence you can probably take at least 1 swaggered attack that's not rock. Surf is powered up by rain dance, ice beam is for variety, while shock wave gets waters trying to take advantage of rain. Obviously this dies to electrics, so switch out or kill them first.
Set 2:
Pelipper@Salac berry/petaya berry
Trait:Keen eye
EVs: Not sure yet - probably speed
Nature: Lonely
-Icy wind
-Substitute
-Surf
-Shockwave/Ice beam
A slightly more reliable moveset. Icy wind on the switch, sub until you activate petaya/salac and attempt to sweep. Only really works on weakened stuff, petaya will probably allow it to kill the attacking pokemon, while salac gives it a chance at getting in an attack on the next one. Only good thing is that it can kill slower electrics that switch in... slow electrics, lol.
Set 3:
Pelipper@Salac berry/petaya berry
Trait:Keen eye
EVs: Not sure yet - probably speed
Nature: Lonely
-Swagger
-Substitute
-Surf
-Shockwave/Ice beam/Rain dance
Same idea, but relies alot more on luck. Swagger on the switch, and hope that your opponent a)hurts himself so you can get a sub up, b)is slower so you get a sub up, or c)doesn't kill you in one hit. If they hurt themselves more than once, though, you can set up a rain dance to power up surf. Usb to activate berry and sweep lamely. Still dies to electrics unless you're really, REALLY lucky.
Wow, pelipper is bad. It's special's ok but it's speed sucks, and I can't even get agility to fix that
Which of these movesets, if any, could have any use? Or if you have a better but still original/interesting moveset for pelipper, that'd be great to.
Of all the pokemon in all the seas... coulda been tentacool, zubat, spheal, even wingull...
Oh well, I just wanna make the best of a bad shiny. Thanks.
