Manaphy's Legendary Status

Pretty much the same as the Lucario thread.

I'm not sure because it hatches from an egg. Legendaries are un-breedable, so how does Manaphy have an egg? Mods, feel free to close this thread at any time.

The way it hatches isnt the same as how you hatch normal eggs

You get the egg in Ranger, and as soon as you've transferred it hatches

It IS a legendary

to get the egg you need to do a quest in ranger which you can only unlock at a pokemon event

Which takes places before D/P is released.
It may hatch as soon as you transfer it, but it still hatches, when have we seen a legendary that hasn't been born before everyone else appart from mewtwo?
Also, if it's a legendary, it would be something like mew, celebi and jirachi, and they weren't revealed so soon IIRC.
It looks more like togepi to me.

manaphy is this games equavilent(sp) to mew, celbi and jiraci, the fact it comes from an egg changes nothing, you still need to do a special task by going to a pokemon event to recieve it.

What makes them legendaries is that they are at the end of the list of their gen, they are rare, strong and can't breed. That and that they are the only main pokémon in their movie, while manaphy may share it with kyogre. Legendaries with sex are on the edge, but a legendary that must have some kind of parents doesn't fit well.
Only time can tell...

we dont know it has a sex, it is just found in an egg, that could be for many reasons.

a coccoon maybe? he is the prince of the seas after all. he got tired, and went to sleep in a coccoon for a few hundred years, where he was swept up to the shore in the game we call pokemon ranger, his egg/coccoon was stolen by team gogo, retrieved again by the pokemon ranger, and when sent to d/p he awakens from his sleep and bursts out of his coccoon. i know it is said to be an egg, but that doesnt mean it has to have a gender.

In ancient times in the pokemon world, Mew was a common pokemon.

@the fifth horseman: Well, if there were tha case, I'd have no problem accepting that it is a legend, but right now, we just know that it comes from an egg, and unless more info is given, that means that it has parents. We'll know for sure once we see the pokedex.

@Shinin: and that's why some don't consider it a legendary. If we didn't have games, I think only a few would consider it so, and just because mew were ancestor of every pokémon and seems that there's only one right now.

But can it breed? That's the question you should be asking. Hatching from an egg is nothing compared to that. And don't mention Nidoqueen, that was someone's sick joke.

No, it isn't, it's just assumed to be so for some reasons or others.
I think he agreed with manaphy being the new mew/celebi/jirachi.
