(I couldn't think of anywhere else to put this, so it can be moved if this is the wrong place.)

Just saying, isn't it weird that Manene, a dancing, 'girly' pokemon, evolves into MR.Mime, which are all male? Also, the episode "King Bonsly and Queen Manene" calls it a queen in the title, but it evolves into a male.
Maybe it can change its gender like some frogs:p

This means you never check Serebii's very useful pokedex. :D

I have a female Mr.Mime in my PC. And, Manene looks like a kid clown, doesn't it?

Who can say?
Mr. Mime was named before pokemon were officially given genders.
It's Japanese name does not suggest a specific gender so that is why Mr. Mime or 'Barrierd' (in Japan) can be male or female.

I would't say Manene is girly-just clown/preformer like mixed with...well...cuteness! As it is a kid.

I think his name has only in English a "gender". But I also always looked at Mr. Mime as a male pokemon and it was kind of wierd to see female MR. Mimes.
I wouldnt consider Manene to be a typical girly pokemon (apart from it's pink colour) only because it's seems to be a girl in the anime. It's not like Smoochum which has an obvious female look.

Slowking is pink and it is a King. :D

Goldeen looks like a female, right. It evolves into a Seaking, and we have female Seakings.

I tend to think Nintendo messed up on Mr. Mime. I mean, with a title, explaining, and hinting that it's MALE, why give it a 50/50 ratio for it's gender?

It's not as if the Gender feature introduced in GSC could've been predicted. It was a stupid mistake and nothing more. It wasn't really a "why did they do that" sort of thing, more of a "they sure didn't see that coming" situation.

If you ask me, naming a creature Mr. ANYTHING is stupid. It's a wild Pokemon species, not a lawyer.

Then again, why they made such a humanesque Pokemon to begin with is a good research topic all on its own....

Exactly what I didn't mean. :D

Anyway, you are right. Back in Red, Blue, Green and Yellow there were no pokemon genders, and so they named him/her Mr. Mime. Plain stupid. I thought too that Mr. Mime can be only a boy, and when I saw a female Mr. Mime in Gold, I thought my game was screwed up!
Maybe Nintendo, or whoever that names the pokemons, can change his name into anything else without a Mr or Mrs or a Ms, but then it will be something weird. Just let it be a female and male Mr. Mime. Fifty percent chance to find female, and same goes for male. :D

Just because something indicates a certain gender doesn't mean it has to be that gender.

This applies in real life too. There are Hercules Beetles, which are named after a male demigod named Hercules from Greek mythology. But female Hercules Beetles exist. Also, I know a guy named Lindsey, and a girl named Jordan.

The 'hercules' of the Hercules Beetle is a reference to its great lifting strength. Jordan and Lindsey, while certainly not as common for their opposite genders, are wildly accepted as names for both sexes. Can you tell me what makes the 'Mister' in Mr. Mime like that? What about Mr. Mime exactly qualifies it the name of Mister?

I see what you're trying to get at and that's a great point. But in this case I believe there is little to save our dear Mr. Mime's label. Mister is a connotation of a guy; it wasn't created to act as a universal term. The 'mister' directly insinuates that whatever we're dealing with has to be a male.
