Manga VS Anime

I've been most interested in the manga then the anime, partically the dub versions cuz it's so predictable.
Here's my opinion on which characters are better in both manga & anime

Red: manga: Red's much cooler, a little rash which is expected of a 14 year old.

Ash: anime: There's just no comparison! Ash he really gets on my nerves by not thinking clearly in battle and has no common sense.

Blue/ Green in the Jap version/ manga: Blue is much calmer and more collected.

Gary: Anime:
A real know it all not to mention he turns too nice at the end of the anime isn't that's a bit too unrealist?

Oak: anime. hmmm just a resreacher not thing to jump about.

Brock: manga: Has very different personality.

Brock: anime: Too girl crazy.

Misty: Personality wise she's about the same in both the manga and anime. Aside the little fact that Misty has better pokemon in the manga.

Serge: manga: Quite good as he makes a good bad guy.
.
Serge: anime: Too full of himself

Sabrina: manga and anime: About the same. Not much of a talker any way.

Erica manga: Quite cool as she give Red the chance to hunt an evee for himself.

Erica anime: I despise that spoiled-brat-princess-femenist-male-hater she's so mean to Ash.

Koga: manga: Works for team rocket in the first serries, has a more cunning personality.

Koga: Anime: Okay I guess.

Blaine manga: Is more of a philosopher and is the person that created mewtwo.

Blaine anime: Though I do like the riddle where he say's "His gym is where you put your glasses" I hate how he looks with out his sun glasses and moustache he looks so odd.

Giovanni: manga: He more cooler and evil. Though he is ruthless
I heard he kills some body or a pokemon in what chapter I do not know.

Giovanni: Anime: Hardly does a thing to be honest.

Lance: Manga: He is so hot! though he is mean to yellow.

Lance: anime: He's the only male character I like in the anime so yeah he's good in my book.

Lorelei/ :manga: Surprisingly she's evil in the manga and performs some kind of ice voodoo which is different.

Lorelei/ Prima: anime: Prima is kind of weird name. I like her Personality though.

Bruno: manga: Much more of a tactful battler, hot headed though.

Bruno: anime: Geeky and a bit of a dunce.

Agatha: Obnoxious old bat. Manga/ anime.

Final conclusson:

If the anime *Dub* would be a little more realistic like the manga (and not so sunshine-rainbow-kitten) Then it could have been a well blanced anime.

The manga does have it's dark themes occasionally which is okay in decent douces as it adds the flavor to the story line.

Plus the fact that the manga follows more closely to the game's plot only it has a few more twists.

So yep I like the manga.

Shout out your opinion.

The dub is no more predictable than the original version... they both have the exact same plots.

Personally, I like both anime and manga. I'll take Pokemon in whatever form I can get it!

Lord Mewtwo

Advanced Human
I agree with you, if the anime had been based off the manga abit more, it would be better, the manga seems like it could grip a larger audience, but that's my opinion.

Thunder Trainer
In comparrison, I'd say I like the Adventures mangas cause they have the space to bring out a deeper plot unlike the anime which is pretty much a 'Sat morning cartoon', however, being a loyal Team Rocket supporter, I'd still say I watch the anime for JJ&M.

So I like the anime for JJ&M and I like the manga for deeper content. (but of course I'm fussy with art work and no longer read it since Mato stopped drawing)

I don't like the show at all. The show's unintelligent, naive, and "let's help everyone" theme is a real turn off. On the other hand, Pokemon Adventures is a lot more risque and interesting.
I really like how Red's a bit perverted and how Gold and Silver don't care about collecting badges. Team Rocket is actually evil in the comic, unlike in the show where they just try to steal pokemon.

Yeah...Everyone is getting tired of that "let's help these random persons, kick team rocket's butt for no apparent reason and let's battle on the Gym!" really, these guys attack team rocket every time they see them, even if they're just walking around, eating, who watched the WHOLE anime, from the beggining ro the end of the Advanced Battle knows what i am talking about.

Yes,i watched the anime until episode 339,i got tired of all that Bull*h*t!
okay,i watch the anime, but only the contest episodes, and the rest?
waste my time staying 30 minutes in front of the TV to see SUPER ASH saving pokemons of random people and kicking team rocket's as* by no apparent reason?NEVER!!!

I would like the manga, but i don't know where to find it...

Good-bye

Coral Eye Trainer
The anime has so many fillers that it basicly has no plot while the manga'a plot is awsome. The anime is so predictlbe and some of the characters are annoying. The manga's bad guys are actually evil and jessie and James are getting annoying with their persistance I mean come on seven years and they still haven't caught Pikachu!Plus each episode of the anime is pretty much the same.Soo.... yeah I think it's clear that I like the manga better

Dimitri

just disappear.
The manga is so much better because it has character develpoment and a much better storyline. MANGA RULES!!!

It's just such a shame that the manga isn't given as much attention in the Western regions as the anime...

Manga has awesome plot. And it's based on the game. None of the game characters is skipped in the manga! (except the route-trainers). Anime skips lots of game characters (i.e. Mr. Fuji, Daisy Oak and many many others). Road from town to next town is too long in the anime. In the anime there are many stupid episodes with stupid adventures between each town. So, the series is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo long. Manga plot is based on the games, and doesn't have as much additional places and adventures as the anime. Ah, and Red is much times cooler than Ash.
POKEMON MANGA ROCKS!!!
Ah, and Pokemon anime is only one, Pokemon mangas are few-teen.
Mangas are cool. And I like Pokemon designs in mangas more. And there is serious TR in manga. It's also cool.

Let's balance this thread out a little bit:

The dub is no more predictable than the Japanese version.

Here's my opinion on which characters are better in both manga & anime

Red: manga: Red's much cooler, a little rash which is expected of a 14 year old.

Ash: anime: There's just no comparison! Ash he really gets on my nerves by not thinking clearly in battle and has no common sense.

Satoshi does think clearly in battle, and he does use common sense. Sure, he made a lot of rookie mistakes in the beginning (when he was new to the whole Pokemon Trainer thing), but that's to be expected. Nowadays, Satoshi comes up with some great strategies (minus the occasional "golden Pikachu and Ohsubame" thing), and the guy really knows how to take advantage of his environment and his opponents' weaknesses.

Blue/ Green in the Jap version/ manga: Blue is much calmer and more collected.

Gary: Anime:
A real know it all not to mention he turns too nice at the end of the anime isn't that's a bit too unrealist?

It's not "unrealist" at all. Shigeru tried his hand at being a Pokemon Trainer, like it for a little bit, and then changed his mind. People in real life develop different interests and hobbies all the time. Why should Shigeru be the exception?

Oak: anime. hmmm just a resreacher not thing to jump about.

He's the world's most famous pokemon researcher (so famous that Masato, someone from Houen, knows who he is). He also loves to write pokemon senryuu and helps Satoshi out whenever he can (by giving him Pokemon Zukan upgrades and whatnot). He's not "just a resreacher."

Brock: manga: Has very different personality.

Brock: anime: Too girl crazy.

While Takeshi going crazy for every girl he sees does get excessive at times, at other times it can be funny (i.e. "Going for a Spinda"). He's also essential to the group ("Sick Daze") and is sort of an older-brother type, giving advice and commenting on whatever battle's happening at the moment.

Serge: manga: Quite good as he makes a good bad guy.
.
Serge: anime: Too full of himself

Machisu isn't full of himself; he just believes that unevolved pokemon are inferior to evolved pokemon. Which, judging by all the people whining about Satoshi's Heigani not evolving, is an attitude shared by a LOT of fans.

Erica manga: Quite cool as she give Red the chance to hunt an evee for himself.

Erica anime: I despise that spoiled-brat-princess-femenist-male-hater she's so mean to Ash.

Satoshi insulted one of the things she does for a living (making perfume), so of course she's going to be upset. She has every right to treat Satoshi unkindly after the bad first impression he gave her.

Blaine manga: Is more of a philosopher and is the person that created mewtwo.

Blaine anime: Though I do like the riddle where he say's "His gym is where you put your glasses" I hate how he looks with out his sun glasses and moustache he looks so odd.

He looks really odd in the Sugimori art for the Red/Blue/Green games, but I don't hear you complaining about those.

And the manga said that Katsura created Myuutwo? For a manga that's supposed to "follow the video games closer than any other media" (a false statement, by the way), that's a pretty big plot point to change.

Giovanni: manga: He more cooler and evil. Though he is ruthless
I heard he kills some body or a pokemon in what chapter I do not know.

Giovanni: Anime: Hardly does a thing to be honest.

That we know of. Part of being a good criminal is being incognito.

Bruno: manga: Much more of a tactful battler, hot headed though.

Bruno: anime: Geeky and a bit of a dunce.

Geeky? Dunce? I wouldn't have come up with either of those adjectives to describe anime Shiba.

Final conclusson:

If the anime *Dub* would be a little more realistic like the manga (and not so sunshine-rainbow-kitten) Then it could have been a well blanced anime.

The anime isn't always so happy. Satoshi was devastated when he lost the Kanto League, and spent an entire episode more or less pouting about it. Look at any of the episodes where the gang's pokemon leaves (especially the Rocket-Dan pokemon). It's not all sunshine-rainbow-kitten.

In conclusion, I'd say that you manga fanboys need to step back and realize that just because something's different doesn't mean it's worse. Both media have their good points and their bad points, and automatically dismissing one and focusing only on another isn't fair.

I totally prefer the manga. The characters are more realistic, unlike characters like Ash who are way too happy and seem to be perfect. I agree with some others here, the anime has way too many fillers that I forget what the plot is about, and it takes Ash's little group far too long to reach a gym,and TR just becomes a plain nuisance.

Plus.. game character designs>anime characters,IMO.

Actually that isn't true, I don't hate the anime because is different from the manga, I hate it (well i get tired of it and I don't watch it) because almost all the episodes are like this "Ash sees a random pokemon/trainer, he tries to catch/battle it, when the battle is over or interrupted, Team Rocket tries to steal the trainer's/wild pokemon, but then they are stoped by a Razor Leaf, hole on their balloon or another random attack followed by Thunderbolt" but the manga has a better story, but I have to admit that the Anime has some victories over the Manga, speaking of it's story.

Fwee manga rules!
Mangas are usually more detailed in the plots and Mato was a great artist ineed.

Remember that I like both manga and anime, but one thing the manga has on the anime is that the characters catch and evolve more pokemon. I know this isn't a big point or all that important, but I like to see it happen and am often annoyed by how rarely it occurs in the anime.
