• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

No matter how you look at it the regular tracks would have been ready long before the DLC tracks were, so if they planned to release an incomplete soundtrack it would have made sense to do that and then either never release the DLC tracks or do a DLC album later.

But that's dumb

They probably committed to the 2 dlc packs shortly after the game was done. If they had decided on an OST for club nintendo at that point it makes no sense to release a default sound track when either:
-by the time of release they would already have the DLC music ready to go. releasing a "Default" soundtrack now is dumb when they are just literally sitting on music
-release it earlier knowing for a fact that they are making another 16 music tracks that everyone will see in 4-8 months

and, again, club nintendo exclusive! club nintendo is not going to be around anymore and we have *no idea* what will replace it. Soundtracks might not be offered through it at all.

e: I've gone 2 posts without complaining about NoA club nintendo so let me just throw out screw you noa club nintendo for not offering soundtracks

But that's the thing, they're just releasing the soundtrack now for people to actually commit to it, it's not being printed and shipped out until June or July, so it's still not even technically done. It's very common for OSTs to be released only when they would actually be complete, I can't think of any from the top of my head that released and then had new tracks added to the game. Even the Fire Emblem OST came with all the tracks exclusive to DLC.

I agree completely, luckily there are people who sell them so I've already bought one :v

getting orders now only to release a more complete one in a year is kind of ridiculous in terms of wait-time though
and so is getting orders for a soundtrack not arriving until june that just arbitrarily does not have sounds from the dlc not available

Also: the Awakening ost was a commercial release and judging by how FE soundtracks seem to be...inconsistently released...as well as Awakening potentially being the last one at the time, i doub they had the ost planned at the onset and went "ok lets release the ost after that's done"
MK8's, meanwhile, is a CN promotion, so time's probably more of an issue. (also I think all the physical rewards are being produced for shipment in june/july). And also just like...none of the other sountracks offered had dlc* so there's no real point of comparison here. I dont think a lot of the OSTs offered even had every track (I want to say the Galaxy OSTs didnt) so that probably doesnt help.

*Well...there's smash bros obviously but I think the reason you didnt bring it up is the same reason I didnt: it wasnt getting a full OST release regardless

Awakening is also a second party game. Intelligent Systems is likely more eager to sell more content because the proceeds go directly to them and their composers. Xenoblade saw a soundtrack release for pretty much the same reason.

Note that all non-costume content in MK8 so far comes from first party material. Nintendo just doesn't see a real need to commercialize their soundtracks.

That's the tricky part as well, Nintendo itself isn't exactly known for releasing soundtracks for its games. Were this any other publisher then the soundtrack being released, with the DLC on it, would be a definite indication that the game wasn't getting more support (as far as DLC goes). Bit harder to tell with Nintendo, especially since DLC is so new to them in the first place.

so found a problem. Wii remote+nunchuk the brake button is the same as drift : the B button. So I can't brake and drift at the same time in 200cc. Is there any way to change the controls or do I have to switch to a different type of controller like the gamepad?

I was so done with 200cc after continuously ramming into walls, items, and falling to my inevitable death.

Baby park is chaotic as hell though

You can't drift while braking in the first place. Also I'm quite certain that brake will be a different button, press the drift button without drifting just makes you hop.

Is anyone having trouble downloading the DLC because of internet connection problems? I am, it's because Time Warner is my internet provider, and something is wrong with Time Warner's internet. It may have something to do with the abandoned merger between Time Warner Cable and Comcast.

You can now after the update. Hold the accelerate button with the brake button while drifting makes 200cc a lot easier. Anyway, I read somewhere that there's a different button combination for Wii remote + nunchuk but as I use the Gamepad that didn't matter to me and I forgot.

I beat 200cc yesterday https://miiverse.nintendo.net/posts/AYMHAAACAAADVHjvMyFgNQ

I don't think i've ever used the break in mario kart. i just drifted around everything

Too bad that's nearly impossible in 200cc. I've hit the side more times than I can count, even with high handling and traction.

Nostalgia.
Can someone explain to me...is the wifi on say WW or Locals considered 200cc?
