Max catching a pokemon?

Do you think Max should one day catch a pokemon? I think he should. He knows a lot about pokemon and I think he'd be a great trainer.

but, in all I think it is a so-so idea, I mean, you have Misty, May, Brock, and Ash... do you really need to see Max lose? lol

I must agree. Like i said, i WOULD want Max to catch a pokemon because of the reasons I mentioned boefre and because he promised something and he has to keep it.

Yes. Max needs a starter first, maybe he choose Charmander. And then went to the journeys with Ash, Pikachu, May and Brock and catch some Kanto, Johto and Hoenn Pokemons.

But that screams the question, how old is he then? Someone once said he was six, but he acts way to old to be a six year old. I'd say he was eight but then that conflicts with May's age which is apprently ten.

The Wailord filler in Slateport was mostly about Max's starter, he said at the end (or osmething along the lines of): "Whatever my starter is, it'll be the best" or something like that. So in other words Max has high hopes on his starter, but he did take a shine to Treecko in "There's no place like Hoenn".

So i'd say Ralts is a good choice for his starter, I doubt he would get a Treecko.

Providing Max lasts longer than to the end of the BF, they should really beef up his character. All throughout Hoenn, since AG, he's made nothing but 'Poké Friends' and empty promises. They have neglected to improve anything with his character, in the same manner as Brock and maybe Misty in Johto. That's an incredible disappointment for a kid that holds mucho potential. He can basically be the 'newbie' trainer that Ash and May once held.

As I said, if they keep him for longer than till the end of the season, they should start his saga up. Make him old enough to start participating in Gym Battles. Give him that Ralts! What better way to jump-start a series (again...) than to have a character we are familiar with to begin his journey. Ash's style has always been a headstrong attitude followed by mixed tactics. I'd welcome a trainer like Max that would adapt his knowledge into battles but might not have the know-how to back it up (after traveling with Ash & Co. for so long this may not be the case any longer). It would supply a change, a dire need for the anime currently.

His Pokemon, which usually is a topic of great discussion, in the beginning should consist of two Pokemon: a starter of some kind (notice I don't say Hoenn. Let it be random) and Ralts (which they need to show him capturing for about one episode). THEN his journey starts and all kinds of interesting things happen along the way.

I definatley want to see him use Ralts, and the D/P Water Starter, whatever the hell it is. -_- At least give the kid a spinoff, it would be intresting to see him go from using his brain to using his gut, a trait proven nessacary many times on Pokémon. Anyone remember Shingo?

Don't forget that the writers have left plot holes before... so Max capturing a pokemon isn't totally out of the question. It could even happen by accident, like that kid who accidentally caught bellsprout when he was after pikachu.

Should Max get a Pokemon, do you want him to travel with Ash and May, or should he go off on his own and become a recurring character like Nicolai but much more frequently?

Max should stay and get the Ralts he befriended in that one episode, if they're all going to start over with one Pokemon like at the beginning of AG (even though this will still be AG so possibly not) it would make sense, if Max turned 10 before then that is. Then Ash, May and Max could have the split grass/water/fire starter thing again, except obviously Brock won't be there and Max will receive the remaining starter.

Yeah i think Max should get a pokemon, mainly the Ralts like other people have suggested. Kids his age and possibly younger have captured pokemon, why does he have to wait till he's ten(which is never gonna happen in the anime unless they choose to age all the characters a few years)? Not all characters start of with the regular starters either. Max should start with Ralts and catch a few other pokemon. Id just like to see how hed be as a trainer. His battle with Poliwag wasnt that great but he was just starting out. Corphish didnt listen to him when he battled the Winstrate girl. We really dont know what hed be like in a battle. Writers, give him a pokemon or his character will just get boring.

Knowing the writers, they already fogot about the Ralts and are looking towards something new. If Max does ever get a Pokemon(which seems to me be as likely as Brock getting some breeding trading done) it would be a D/P starter just to sell for the new season.

They should have the group do another temporary split-up at the end of Battle Frontier, and have Max come back with Ralts for D/P.
