Maybe Inteleon is actually the Traitor all along lmao

(Joking Inteleon loves Goh too much for that lol)
Unless Inteleon purposely backstabs Tokio because it wants Goh to succeed, even if it means going against its trainers will. It won't happen, but it'd be pretty funny.

So I initially thought that either Goh or Tokio will fail, but they will have enough points to make it in anyway, or neither will fail and the summary is just bait for the audience.

But what if the bait is actually in universe instead? Like participants start out by being encouraged to pair up (which is why they are all in pairs), then part way through they are told that only 1 person will make it through, leading to traitors in multiple groups. The whole point being another teamwork exercise to see if candidates won't backstab each other later.
Also why are they almost the same height? Inteleon should be way taller than Goh lol
Either bad perspective, or Goh is standing on a box.

yeah because if all Charizards were 5'07 then Ash would be a midget.
Sizes are all over the place in the show (and arguably closer to the games' model scales).

Note how Meowth is meant to be literally no bigger than 1'04 Pikachu in the games, but is almost as big as 2'00 or taller Pokemon in the anime. The starters are also usually all the same Pikachu-esque height in pre-evo forms, while in the games there is often some noticable difference, especially the Kanto ones.

In fairness some of the games' sizes do sound a bit weird.
