Not exactly. The single player system also has a 3rd person camera option now, which might be an advantage in the jungle.
The online playing option is reason enough for me to buy it (and sell MGS3).

I mean a normal 3rd person camera. MGS has always had a special kind of camera view which adapted to where you were and how you were standing. This worked perfectly in MGS1 and MGS2, but in MGS3, with wide open spaces, it could be a bit annoying at times.

In MGS3 you will be able to use the normal 3rd person camera view, which is used in most 3rd person games.

I think what he's trying to say is that the first two Metal Gear Solid games had fixed non-adjustable camera angles which made playing the game frustrating at times, especially without the Soliton Radar. Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence has a new camera system where the camera follows Snake and can be rotated using the right analog stick. Basically, the game feels more like Splinter Cell now. They should've implemented the new camera system ages ago. One of the things I wanted so badly after playing the Splinter Cell series was a rotatable camera to be put in the Metal Gear Solid series.

Now if they could only enable the player to be able to move while in first person shooting mode a la Splinter Cell, Metal Gear Solid will be the ungodly awesome.

Getting the game for the rotatable camera alone is worth it. Add in the relocalized Metal Gear 1 and Metal Gear 2 and online multiplayer, the game is a grab for 32 bucks (Including tax :D ).

Ever played MGS2 Substance? Quite a few of the VR training sims are in first person, and it handles just like a console FPS game.

But that also means it's akward when you want to do some stealth action.
Yeah, I own Substance. The first person missions are interesting to say to the least. I heard in an interview the developers were playing around with first person movement at that time since they got hooked on Counter-Strike. I kinda wished that the Metal Gear Solids after Substance would have movement in first person view, albeit slow tactical movement like in Splinter Cell to discourage people from playing the game entirely in first person.

I'm going to try and but this game tommorow, but I hope I have enough(Gamestop says it's 30 dollars for a new copy, is that right?). I heard from a friend that's it a good single player game if you didn't play the past one becuase it's basicly the same thing, just different camera. What I'm most intrested in is the Online. I've seen videos on Youtube and it looks fun^^
