Perhaps in the OP you should ask why some people would consider Nu-Metal and Metalcore to be metal.

And technically speaking, both genres are sub-genres of metal.

I'm not a fan of either metalcore or nu metal, but I don't see the point in going out of my way to attack them. It's just a different genre of music, I don't see the need to hate it. Nu metal isn't hip hop, but you don't see hip hop fans going out of their way to attack it. If people like it so be it, they are doing no harm to me.

As for the arguement for it being metal or not I'd say there was more of a metal aesthetic rather than it being metal, but then that's the case for a few bands, Cold Body Radiation being one who are essentially post rock with a metal aesthetic.

both genre's are not in the metal archives [aka the metal bible] so they are not metal sub-genres, trust me the people in the metal archives know their stuff kinda like how smogan people know a lot about pokemon

They don't. And it's not the bible. It's a good resource sure, but it doesn't make them super knowledgeable. They rejected the band Cloaca for example for not being metal enough, when it's quite blatantly sludgy atmospheric post metal. They list Alcest as Black Metal/Shoegaze, but there's no black metal in Alcest's music, not really. There's the odd blast beat and harsh vocal, but they aren't in a black metal context.
If anything they try too hard I feel, and are unnecessarily elitist for the sake of it.

And there is some metalcore on the archive, Trivium for example.

Read what I was saying. Metal core is x music with a metal aesthetic, just as CBR are post rock with a BM aesthetic. There's nothing in terms of composition that's black metal in CBR, it's closer to the likes of Explosions in the Sky, they just produce it and use the odd technique associated with black metal, and as such some people believe that it's black metal, but if you have an understanding of music and genre's and usue your ears and think about it instead of just reading something, you'll see they blatantly aren't a black metal band.

also superunknown having a 97 percent rating lol. i suppose metalcore band's will probably have a higher success ratio in being excepted by metal elitist types compared to say nu metal, but then awful crappy bands like avenged sevenfold and asking alexandria ruin the genre's image

why are you worrying about the image of a genre you don't like? It doesn't affect you. Unless your suggesting they are in fact metal, but if your of the opinion they aren't metal as you seem to be then don't let it worry you.

How can there be a discussion when "metal" isn't clearly defined? This appears to be nothing more than a "metal elitist" getting butthurt over something ridiculous. Music is music. Like it and deal with it.
