Gives 'em the slip..
I'll go for Tool, Metallica, Ministry, Alice in Chains, maybe some Lacuna Coil every now and then.

Wow, I haven't even heard of most of these bands, haha.

I mostly listen to Metallica, Iron Maiden, GN'R, Lamb of God, Disturbed and Godsmack.

Given your list, I can see why that is.

Feel free to check back some pages, and click on various Youtube links, etc.

HK, I'd give Morbid Saint - Spectrum of Death a shot. It's similar to Slayer, though with alot harsher vocals, and with worse production

I'm thinking of getting some albums by Empyrium, anyone got any suggestions?

Id never actually looked into them before, but looking a tthe metal-archives page, it looks like something I might quite enjoy.

Songs of Moors and Misty Fields seems to be getting good reviews, so that's were im going to start i think

Edit: Bought a few more albums today

Darkthule - Beyond the Endless Horizons
Altorių Šešėliai - Margi Sakalai
Adalruna - A Wolf in Hallowed Places
Skyforger - Kauja Pie Saules
Folkvang/Wodensthrone - Over the Binding of the Waves
Askival - Eternity
Ralph Vaughan William's - The Lark Ascending (Essentially a best of)

Thanks. Seems to be just what I wanted. Production is fine. Vocalist sounds like he wants to be in a black metal band.

So aside from those genre recommendations that I mentioned some pages back, anyone pretentious enough (aside from myself) to create a "Best of the Decade" list?

Will be difficult, though my top five probably looks like:

1) Gospel - The Moon is a Dead World
2) Cynic - Traced in Air
3) Converge - Jane Doe
4) Kayo Dot - Dowsing Anemone With Copper Tongue
5) Nadja - Radiance of Shadows

At the moment I'm totally back into Judas Priest and Racer X, but I also love bands like Soilwork and Children of Bodom.

Is it in order of preference?
In a rough order, yeah. Radiance of Shadows was my favourite for a very long time though I think right now The Maniacal Vale might be. I don't know, it sort of fluctuates but generally it's in the right order. I have the feeling that if I ever get a hold of Weighing Souls With Sand then it will head straight to my number 1 spot though.

3. Opeth - Blackwater Park (2001)
4. Nevermore - This Godless Endeavor (2005)

6. Dark Tranquillity - Damage Done (2002)
