Metalheads? anybody?

fuuuck lifelover.

i mean i'm biased because i hate "depressive" black metal or whatever but still.

good to hear you like Acid Witch tho! Michigan metal represent.
i'm surprised you like frost and fire, i would've thought you'd like king of the dead more.
i like both, but Frost and Fire is a lot faster and more proto power metal-y so i mentioned it instead.

but i haven't listened to their discography enough to decide what my favorite is anyway.

also in general: Brazilian black/death/thrash bands like early Sepultura, Sarcofago, Vulcano, and Mutilator have been clicking with me even more lately (i already dug them a bit and Sepultura have always been like my favorite thrash act) so i'm going to give some war metal or whatever stuff a try. i don't think anyone who posts here really digs that stuff but i'm going to start with Revenge, Morbosidad, Beherit, Black Witchery, and Proclamation since i already dig Blasphemy, anyone have any other recs?

Why not like all sorts of metal? :3

Except the majority of Nu Metal and Deathcore, wich sucks.

Because people like music for reasons other than they should.
He clearly isn't into that sort of thing, which is fair enough, there's no point him pretending.

There's an argument for Nu Metal and Death core not actually being metal, so there's no real need to exclude them.

(I'm aware I've changed my tune from a few years back when we had a nu metal debate)

can you link me to a good sepultura song because the one i listened to was pretty awful.

also some samples from the new nightwish album are up here. sounds alright, but that's as far as i'm willing to go at this stage. only 11 days until the full release anyway.

the later stuff is terrible, the early stuff is great, though you may not like the first two since they're raw as ****.

some samples in chronological order:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MxnVuvywUUQ
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0krreagQlyE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9D1ZpsrHJI

after this they started playing a weird mesh of groove, industrial, and thrash which i don't mind but most people hate, then the degenerated into... i don't know what to call it, but it's awful. but here's a track from the first sound:

if you only listen to a few songs listen to the last three downward since that will fit your taste more likely, though the second is my personal favorite.

although it's harder to know what to try to get you into since you like random death metal acts now...

For me, Sepultura are just one of those bands who have never clicked. I've tried over the years, with different albums from different era, but it just doesn't do owt for me.

Best Brazilian band if you ask me are Tuatha de Dannan, but I feel I might be in the minority with that one.

Sepultura has never really clicked with me either, but then again, I'm not a HUGE fan of any thrash metal band. Anyway, you guys probably won't be too fascinated, but I picked up Serenity's Death & Legacy. It was crazy good, but I'm also a sucker for concept albums.
Oh, and I'm also pretty stoked about some of the bands I'm going to see in the next couple of months: Born of Osiris, Korpiklaani, Arkona, The Sword, Kyuss, Black Cobra, Texas In July (metalcore band—sorry), Eluveitie, Symphony X, Iced Earth, Warbringer, Deicide, Abigail Williams, and Overkill.

Try Testament, if you like Overkill you will surely like them:

hey Hammerheart, you like Carnage right? have you listened to their "The Day Man Lost" demo? it's pretty sick, it's pretty much Repulsion/early Carcass type grind with a Swedeath guitar tone.

I have, my copy of the album came with The Day Man Lost as bonus tracks, as well as a rough mix for The Day Man Lost and the Infestation of Evil demo.
I've only really given it a quick listen when I got the album, and to be honest I don't think I've played it since.

I'll give it a listen later/tomorrow and get back to you.

I'm doing some vocals (and pissing around on drums) for a friends ambient black metal project tomorrow, would you guys be interested in hearing some of the stuff we make?

Aye go for it.

edit:
Listened to those Carnage Demo's, they are pretty good. At least the Day Man Lost is, I think I like that it's really short. They are like short bursts of intencity rather than trying to draw them out rather than the longer tracks on the Infestation of Evil. But even then they are still pretty good tracks.

Turns out we spent 4 hours on 2 songs for Wythermoon, haven't done drum tracks yet, and never got around to the ambient black metal stuff. :p

Anyway, I'll post what we did when it's finished.

Vektor's new album comes out in two days but it's streaming on this site:

http://www.heavyartillery.us/HA55026/

and i think there are a few rips of it already on mediafire. i haven't listened to it yet, going to do it when i'm in a better state of mind and can bust out the good headpones, as this will likely be album of the year. fans of Voivod, Coroner, Watchtower, Blind Illusion, etc NEED to hear this album. **** i hate most progressive metal and i ****ing love the band, and most people who don't like thrash but like prog end up liking Black Future. so in other words if you like metal in general you NEED to hear this album. cannot stress this recommendation enough.

a sample from their last album, Black Future:
