Son of Wōden
Just came across a band called Sonnenbrand. They had an album out this year, and it's really up my street. Worth listening to if you like your black metal, specifically the russian stuff from the Blazebirth Hall and affiliated bands.

Track from Solstice's upcoming "Death's Crown Is Victory" mini LP coming out next month digitally and the month after physically from what I gather.
I've already heard the track as they played it live when I saw them in 2011, but it's nice to hear it recorded.

The Admiral

the star of the masquerade
That new Dream Theater album came out today. It's about what you'd expect, if maybe a little better. "The Enemy Inside" is probably the only song like it on the album, at least, in terms of general sound -- the rest is still basically Dream Theater. "The Looking Glass" borrows heavily from Rush songs for its sound in some areas. The 22-minute finisher seems a little disjointed. "Along for the Ride" is kinda forgettable, but I understand why it would be released as a single.

In all: I think I was way more excited for this album than I should have been.

I really don't have any desire to listen to it out of anything other than curiosity. But given I've been in a more shoegazy mood this last fortnight, It's like the complete opposite of what I've been in the mood for, so I haven't bothered.

A DRUM, A DRUM!...
Krimh's (ex-decapitated drummer) solo project came out a few weeks ago. It's a one man project and it's pretty sweet groovey instrumental prog. it's worth checking out
here's his bandcamp www.krimh.bandcamp.com

saw tesseract / scale the summit / anciients the other day.
all bands blew me away especially tesseract who surprised me. I actually wasn't too big a fan of their new style and altered state but boy were they
great live especially their vocalist!
