Metroid Prime Hunters Hands on

This will be continuesly updated. Link: http://boards.ign.com/nintendo_ds_lobby/b7594/111286614/p1
Heres some important excerpts.

We're currently being led through the single player portion, and man is it looking good. NST's said that they recently ran through the single player adventure and clocked it, putting it just shorter than the time it takes to complete the original Metroid Prime on the GameCube.
The game actually has a "bark mode" like Nintendogs called "Rival Radar." Snag someone's profile in this mode and you can actually track your rival's progress over the Nintendo Wifi network.

The multiplayer modes include Survival, Bounty, Defender, Capture, Prime Hunter, and Nodes. There are, according to the demo, 19 different arenas to choose from. Lots of options to set before the battle: turn on or off the radar to see enemies on the lower screen, turn on or off friendly fire, adjust the level of damage shots give on an enemy. You can also set up what type of weapons to use during the match.

Everyone gets a "Hunters License" in Metroid Prime Hunters Wi-fi Connection. It keeps track of the Wi-fi wins/loss record, and lets people know who keeps dropping a game with a "connection history" percentage, reducing the percentage from 100% if they hit the power switch during a battle -- if the connection is accidentally lost, it won't affect that number. Nice.

It's like a walkie talkie, holding A to send the message. Sounds great. You can also instant message using an on-screen keyboard.

First of all, the Voice over IP works like a champ, and there's very little delay between someone talking and others receiving the voice...like a quarter of a second. It's live chat -- the microphone simply goes live and broadcasts when someone presses the X button. Only one person can speak at a time, though...the speakers turn off when you hold the button down.

Hey thats cool, a chat feature! I still dunno if I'm gonna get it. Looks cool though, maybe I will get it.

Good Night!
oh my gosh... you're may not get it?! ( and you own the metroid club!) It looks awsome.

On topic: That's cool, since many people disconnect during Wifi.

Deoxys Prime

Time will tell.
I'm really not sure, thats it, but I probably will. Hopefully I will.

On topic: Typing on the bottom sounds tedious though. I wasn't to sure about the controls either. I wasn't too handy with MPH:FH.

Yeah, I geuss, now I am truly thinking I'll get it, the chat feature just gave me some Ideas. You could say who you usually play as or who you are gonna destroy etc.

I am getting it. Pre-ordered already. Anyways I wrote a feature guide. It is probably old now though, a may copy-paste information on here.

As I did with ACWW and MKDS, I am now going to do it with MPH. First off, the thing that probably discouraged this game was the time limit. The time limit was for the sake of the demo. In the next game, it is made too expand "Multiplayer" at the same time keep a story. Unlike in MP2, there are new circumstances too battle. The biggest change is Wi-Fi, which has improved far over MKDS. It appears to have no restrictions (Except on player #), so all 7 battle modes are avalible. Also, as long as there are two people you can choose to start the game. Also, there are 7 modes, and also 7 characters. Unlike in MP2, you get to choose a character (except via DS download play, like in MKDS you hace a set character, who is Samus herself). Also there are 6 new modes. There is no bounty mode though, they dropped that. I will find more information on battle.

Next is story. It is still unclear if you get to play as any of the new 6 characters (if so it be like SA2B, where each level has a set character), but there is definitily no time limit. Also there will be no 'Samus clone' BTW. THere is little known about story mode, but we do know that there will be a level that focuses on how to use techniques.

Now about the characters. Though each character has his or her morph ball mode, some of them aren't anything like the morph ball (heck about 3 of them aren't even balls). Here is a list of each new character okay:
(Note "Morph ball" is their equavelient of the morph ball, uses same keys for example)

Noxus
Race: Vhozon
Weapon: Freezing Weapon
"Morph Ball:" A rapidily spinning top

Spire:
Race: Solid Rock
Weapn: ???
"Morph Ball:" High speed boulder

Sylux:
Race: ???
Weapon: ???
"Morph Ball:" Can turn into a morph ball, and can deploy beams from it on the way. The beams go like this -O- (O=Morph Ball, -=Beams)

Kanden:
Race: Mutated lab experiment gone wrong
Weapon: ???
"Morph Ball:" Turn into a worn whose tail can explode to severely wound enemies.

Trace:
Race: Kriken
Weapon: ???
"Morph Ball:" Can turn into a 3-legged mecahnism that lunge at enemies. In this mode he is almost completely invisible.

Weaval:
Race: Wounded Space Pirate
Weapon: Typical Space Pirate weapon?
"Morph Ball:" He can detach his legs to make it a turrent and his torso can fly around and keep flying. Appears to be the most unneeded mode in the game.

Know the seven modes: (Note: think of Octolith's as tokens)

Battle: Normal shooter battle. 'nuff said.

Bounty: Bounties search for one Octolith. Return to base with it and gain a point. Kinda like capture the flag, except the octolith isn't in an enemies base.

Prime Hunter: Kill one bounty become the 'Prime hunter.' Be the Prime hunter for the longest and win the game.

Nodes: Claim beacons and try to keep them from other bounties.

Survival: Start with a certian number of lives. After that is just like battle.

Defender: Seek out a circle and stand in it. As long as you are the only one in the circle, you gain points.

Capture: This is like Bounty except both teams (you must be on a team) must get the other team's octolith. Return with the octolith to your base, and if you octolith is still there, you get a point. (Tip: Have one person get the octolith, while the other team member defends there octolith)

Spire:

"Morph Ball:" Can turn into a morph ball, and can deploy beams from it on the way. The beams go like this -O- (O=Morph Ball, -=Beams)

Kanden:
Race: Mutated lab experiment gone wrong
Weapon: ???
"Morph Ball:" Turn into a worn whose tail can explode to severely wound enemies.

Some small changes in bold, I just checked www.metroidhunters.com, thats where I found the weapon stuff.

This sounds pretty promising. I just hope that the control scheme won't get in the way too much...and that the characters have enough variety and balance. If this game turns out really good and everyone buys a DS, kudos to Nintendo.

The Thrashmeister

<-- Made of awesome.
That's awesome, the Hunters License thing. No accidental disconnections count. Cool.

I want to buy this game more and more. ._.

Well, this took me a little while to find. Yeah, as long as the control scheme is alright, chances are ill be getting this game. Besides Samus, ill probably be using Sylux most of the time, just for the cool weapon he sports. Also, IMO, Weavel looks a little too much like a Master Chief from Halo(maybe its just the helmet.).

Comes out March 20th. Not bad. If i can get my goddamned wifi adapter to work ill probably be using the online thing an awful lot^^. Funny how the game is aptly name Metroid Prime Hunters, while the fact that their isnt a single Metroid in the game doesnt help much. Oh well, it will probably be a good game.

Edit: sorry this was bumped from probably a page or 2, but i didnt find a topic for this on the first page, and i did a search for it to make sure i wouldnt have to make another topic of a pre-existing one.

We track a stat that the game calls Connection Percentage, but that I've been calling the Chump Meter. It keeps track of anyone who boots off. So, if I'm beating some kid and he tries to disconnect to avoid the loss, he'll be punished for that. When he turns the game back on, the game will know what happened and it will then hand out some Chump Points.

So basically, your Connection Percentage starts to lower. Everyone starts out on the same page with 100%, and as you disconnect the percentage will lower. Before you start a game with someone you can see the Connection Percentage and decide if you want to play with that person. But the cool thing is that if you get ejected from legitimately losing your connection, it won't affect your Connection Percentage.

SPPf is alive (it was dead most of yesterday)

Those cheaters won't know what hit 'em. BTW I don't recall this being mentioned you have to unlock extra characters. Like in MKDS (char/car), those with them might have an advantage.
