Yet another game announcement. These are almost becoming mundane now. Almost. Anyway, back to the game:

Today Ubisoft, one of the world’s largest video game publishers announced plans to release the fourth instalment of the Rayman franchise, now officially titled Rayman Raving Rabbids, worldwide in Holiday 2006. Scheduled for current and next-generation video game consoles, Rayman Raving Rabbids also joins the line-up as an official launch title for Nintendo’s Wii, formerly known as Nintendo’s Revolution gaming system, and its innovative controller. Rayman Raving Rabbids is being developed by Ubisoft’s award-winning studio in Montpellier, France led by Michel Ancel, creator of the original Rayman game, the critically acclaimed Beyond Good & Evil and Peter Jackson’s King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie.

Rayman Raving Rabbids Wii

Rayman Raving Rabbids marks the return of the iconic video-game hero, Rayman, in his funniest and zaniest adventure ever. When the world of Rayman is threatened by a devastating invasion of crazed, out-of-control bunnies Rayman must rise up against his furry foes to foil their wicked plans. Utilizing an array of amazing new abilities, and with the help of magical creatures, Rayman must break out all the moves to save his world from these delirious bunnies and their hare-raising antics.

“It’s a real pleasure for me to be back working on an all-new Rayman,” said Michel Ancel. “After wrapping up Peter Jackson’s King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie, the team here in Montpellier sat down to talk about having some fun with Rayman and his universe. We are running into a bit of a problem, though, because our game has been invaded by thousands of raving mad and vicious bunnies, who have apparently been preparing this assault since the very first Rayman game. We are now sending an SOS to all motivated gamers to help us get rid of them as fast as possible!”

Features:

* Combat the Ultra-Crazed Evil Rabbits – Take control of Rayman and his knack for attack to help save his world from the raving rabbids. They are mischievous, insane and completely out of control. There are several types of rabbids each with its own mischievous characteristics.
* Master and Ride Creatures – Tame and control various creatures such as sharks, eagles, rhinos, spiders and angelfish. Rayman can master each animal’s unique capabilities to help in his battle against the devious rabbits.
* Dress to Impress – Customize and disguise Rayman. Go punk, pop, rock or hip hop to infiltrate the bunnies and foil their devious plans.
* Explore the Colorful Fantastic World of Rayman – Explore amazing free-roaming environments and beautiful epic landscapes that mix real and fantastical styles to create a visually stunning experience

My thoughts....they watched too much Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were Rabbit and the game looks insanely weird with the evil bunnies compared to it's predecessars... that and the kids using the new remote...just shows the new remote is and will be for everyone and us! Wii rule!

Ahh all I can say is about time!! I seriously cannot wait for this game. Well I guess that makes no sense since I've been waiting for it since Rayman 3 came out!
I must say though, sorta a wierd name. I mean "The Great Escape" and "Hoodlum Havoc" were great but "Raving Rabbids"? It goes well but it's got me thinking easter. I want E3 to come fast!

I bet like all the series this games gonna come for every platform which means current and next generation. So that means I'll be buying four different copies of the same game.

Now if only I could get my hands on that one leaked picture of the game..

I think it looks fun. I like these games that are just a bit crazy and this one looks like it. I liked The Great Escape but never played Hoodlum Havoc so if it's like The Great Escape but with the Wii controller then what can go wrong?

I for one do not hope it's like "The Great Escape". Sure it was great and had a an awsome story but it lacked the crazy features. That's where Hoodlum Havoc was awsome. It was filled with nothing but crazy jokes and the characters gain an attitude where as in "The Great Esacpe" you would have never thought they'de be like this.

So what do I want? Hoodlum Havoc but gone even more wild!

WEll, yeah I'm all for wild and crazy jokes etc but I remember The Great Escape having some brilliant controls, groovy characters and decent characters so as long as it's got that, I'm happy. for me, crazy and wakiness is a bloddy brilliant bonus really.

When you said decent characters I laughed a lot. They really should make a game explaining why from such friendly and caring characters can suddenly totally wacked out hilarious and have drunk personality come up from out of nowhere. Or maybe it's do to Polokus and his masks..

But anyways I kinda feel stupid right now. Gamespot had released an a screenshot of the game and then quickly took it down since Ubisoft told them to hide it until E3 started. Luckily many others managed to save the screenshot.

So yeah after wasting my day searching for that screenshot I realised that it was right here in this thread! Gee, it looks so different no wonder I missed it.

Anyways, Rayman sure looks wierd! Why on earth is he wearing a pink afro to scare away the rabbits? But if he's wearing an afro how will he fly? This makes the game interesting now. I guess when you recieve costumes you'll not only gain new powers but lose some of your regular ones.
