Mighty Sprites

[Mighty Hyena]

I've been fiddling around in Photoshop and came up with a few sprites. I'll add more as I make them. I'm not big on mixes or recolors, so you probably won't find any here unless I was a) bored or b) trying to get into a contest.

Name: Ellev
Type: Flying/Normal
Classification: Lion Cub
Description: This friendly little Pokemon likes nothing more than chasing its own tail. It hunts Pidgey and other smaller Pokemon in groups.

Name: Priden
Type: Flying/Normal
Classification: Lion
Description: Sometimes travelers report this creature prowling through the sky. They are said to be able to summon breezes.

Name: Wuashih (Male)
Type: Flying/Normal
Classification: Beast Lion
Description: Said to be the King of Beasts, this Pokemon prowls the skies at night and hides in the long grasses by day.

Name: Wuahshih (Female)
Type: Flying/Normal
Classification: Beast Lion
Description: These rare Pokemon are fiercely protective of their prides and children. They are said to be able to take to the sky.

Type: Water/Grass
Classification: Water Foal
Description: These cute little horses love to play in swamps and marshes. They are very shy.

Name: Misemor
Type: Water/Grass
Classification: Water Horse
Description: A favourite Pokemon of many girls. They can be used for riding.

Name: Omniiqus
Type: Water/Grass
Classification: Water Horse
Description: These wild beasts are known to attack humans. They stay to themselves and live in the darker parts of the swamps.

Type: Ghost
Classification: Dove
Description: Small white Harlepied appear wherever there is mourning.

Name: Haxatl
Type: Ghost/Flying
Classification: Mourning BIrd
Description: These large white birds' haunting cries are said to be omens of death.

Name: Elapin
Type: Electric
Classification: Rabbit
Description: These nervous creatures adore eating root vegetables. They are popular pets as their electric current is confined to their ears.

Name: Noctohm
Type: Electric
Classification: Hare
Description: If you see a spark in the grasses at night, it is probably a Noctohm releasing its electrical charge.

Type: Steel
Classification: Bead
Description: These colourful Pokemon often hide in caves. They try to keep their metal skin polished.

Name: Betal
Type: Steel
Classification: Bead
Description: The three rotating arms can move surprisingly fast. They are known to smash rocks with ease.

Name: Ecurail
Type: Normal
Classification: Bush Baby
Description: At night, these rarely-seen Pokemon's wails wake up unsuspecting campers. They are popular as pets, but their low intelligence makes them hard to train.

Name: Malodor
Type: Dark
Classification: Baby Skunk
Description: These tiny Pokemon are popular pets. They are hard to see because they only come out to feed at night.

Name: Noxelidae
Type: Dark/Poison
Classification: Skunk
Description: The poison they release from their tail is so powerful that these Pokemon have evolved no nose. Instead they breathe through their mouth to avoid inhaling the toxins.

Type: Ice/Water
Classification: Ice Otter
Description: Cute but freezing cold to the touch, these Pokemon swim in the coldest rivers in the world. They mostly chase Magikarp and fish able to survive in the frigid water.

Name: Frigice
Type: Ice/Water
Classification: Ice Otter
Description: Using the claws on its forearms, it pierces through the ice to breathe. It spends most of its time in the Arctic, where it can go days without ever going on land.
I saw Star Wars episode II right before this... hm...

Type: Fighting
Classification: Quick Fighter
Description: Rather than using brute strength or defence, this Pokemon relies on its extreme speed to avoid blows. It is rarely a part of teams.

It's very good. The mini sprite does look rubbish though. Out of interest, why are you using Photoshop? I find Paint MUCH easier. Also, isn't the type, Air, just a copy of Flying or Normal. (Sorry if I sound too harsh)

Yeah, I meant Flying- bit of a slow day here Its evolutions have more flyingness about them, this is just the baby form.

The 32x32s are actually pretty hard to do. They just don't work. You need to pack a lot of detail into a little box.

Okay, here's the next one. This one has li'l clouds around it and... uh... yeah. It's based on Chinese lions, which I think are awesome.

The Ellev is okay, I think, but I absolutely love the Priden's design.

The cream coloring on it seems a bit flat, though...perhaps add at least one more darker shade to it?

Thanks for your comments. I appreciate all C&C. I've been a little busy re-vamping the sprites. The Ellev now has spots like a real lion cub would, and a *shiney* version. Priden has minor tweaks. Eventually, I'll combine them all into one post but since this is a baby thread it can wait.

Here's a new one. There's a female version of this evolution, but it isn't done yet.

well.... those are so cute! the best is the shiny Ellev, but i think the shading on most isn't good enough, you have to make the outline darker, and i know most sprites have 3 shades, but the best when scratching is to work with 4-5, that makes it better.

Whew. C&C are appreciated, because practice makes perfect. I tried to make them look more 'game'-like with the shading and poses, although I'm not sure I succeeded... anyway, enjoy.

There are LOTS of flying types already. I wanted a little variety, although I might make Haxatl a dual... I just really like ghosts

I love the Ellev line! They're your best sprites. They look like real pokemon. The cream color is not something you see very often on a pokemon. I also like Harlepied and its evolution. Even though Harlepied kinda reminds me of pidgey, you can tell that they're scratch.

Re: Comicbook Romance - Okay, as long as you give credit. If you use it in a RPG, you may want to refer players to this thread so that they can actually see the Pokemon (it's sorta wierd to RP a creature you're never seen...)
