Missed opportunities in the anime

Here we post opportunities that the writers could have taken advantage of but didn't. This can include stuff in the japanese episodes. For me some of these include

-No one catching Hydreigon from the dragonite ep
-Ash and Trip's "rivalry"
-Meloetta and Mijumaru
-The screentime distribution of pokemon, like we could have seen palpitoad eating with the gang or even krookodile etc.

Ignoring the whole TR/Plasma thing....

- Ash's Unova team not evolving quickly and being rotated better

- Iris could have been handled better in terms of pokemon

Going outside of BW for a bit, the rivals in DP really were handled horribly. Kenny was never going to be a good character no matter how hard they tried, but using Nando in only 10 episodes out of 191 and removing Zoey's primary character quirk (the hatred of people doing both Gyms and Contests) early on really lessened what they could have been.

I think the problem was giving Dawn 5 rivals. No main character has ever had 5 rivals at the same time. Its almost as if the writers thought that by giving her tons of rivals it would be a good idea but it backfired.

Between Zoey, Kenny, Nando, Ursula and Jessie it was obvious the writers couldn't handle them all. By the end Kenny and Nando barely appeared, (Nando especially disappeared for like 150 episodes), Jessie was treated like a joke in the GF, Ursula got beaten 3 times in a row, and Zoey became a borderline Mary Sue.

Ursula & Her Gabite meeting Ash's Gible !
Thats what I was looking toward too.
It would cool if Ash & Ursula get lost in a forest because of Team Rocket and they has to work together to get out of the forest. Ursula meet Ash's Gible and gave him some tip about raising that.
Ash & Ursula start to know more about each other and Ash save Ursula multiple time.
At the end Ursula gain a crush on Ash and often ask about his Gible progress whenever she meet Ash.
It would have been unique to see the Female cast's Bicthy rival crushing on Ash.
I guess that the opportunity Writer missed .

- Brock as a whole was a missed oportunity ... his "progress" as a Pokémon Breeder only was brush and feed ANOTHER PEOPLE´S Pokémon, he could at least teach them Egg Moves/Move Tutor Moves to his party.
- May not using Torchic in a contest.
- Dawn´s rivals as a whole.
- Being Ash a trainer that uses unevolved Pokémon and evolved Pokémon too, the use of items like the Gems, the Eviolite, the pinch berries or the Focus Band/Sash was a missed oportunity to show another style of battle.
- Silph Co. in Kanto.
- Smeagle´s Sketch in Johto.
- Mt. Pyre in Hoenn.
- Not-so-Kanto-ish Kanto in Battle Frontier.
- No Battle Frontier in Sinnoh.
- Nimbasa City could had more episodes.

-Iris not being a Gym Leader.

At the beginning we didn't knew her goals. She was quite mysterious character that already owned an Excadrill. It would have been better if Ash got to 8th Gym and had to battle her, then she'd truly reveal to be a Gym Leader alongside Drayden.

She could have stronger Pokemon boxed, just so she wouldn't reveal her position to Ash so early.

Totally missed opportunity.

-Giving Pikachu a Light Ball

-Ash having a female rival[a badas* one like Paul...Bianca doesn't count---she sucks]

Ash growing up A LOT. Every time he whips out that pokédex to scan a pokémon he has already seen like 3 times, i want to punch him in the face. And yes, a bad*** female rival would be nice. But who? Any suggestions?

That's because the audience is constantly renewing itself, so new kids don't know those Pokémon even though Ash already saw them like 3 times. That's why they make him pull his Pokédex and scan said Pokémon once again.

That would be great. I'd have liked to see Hilda as his rival in Unova.
