Procrastinate Today!
I'm sure in all these years that you must have mispronounced or mispelled at least ONE Pokemon name, right? Then really, do I have to explain myself?

Mispronounced:
Gligar: Pronounced it 'Gig-lar'
Chimecho: Pronounced it 'Chime-cho' (rymes with snow) until it appeared on the show >>
Kyogre: Pronounced it 'Key-ogre' (Which I still call it)
Raikou: Kourai (This was my friend's blunder actually.)

Misspelled:
Pikachu: Yes, I misspeled Pikachu. I was young, Pokemon just csme out! Pikatho. I don't know how that happened, but that explains the weird looks my mom gave me each time I spelled 'Pikatho'....

The following are mispellings of my freinds:
Charizaid
Squittle
Mariel

What is wrong with us?

Chibi Pika

Stay positive
Oh man, I have a lot of 'em. XP

EDIT: I remembered even more

Lugia: Loo-JEE-uh
Raikou: RAY-koo
Suicune: SOO-ih-coon
Rayquaza: RAY-kwuh-zuh
Chimecho: CHYM-choh
Deoxys: Dee-OHX-eez
Groudon: GROO-dawn
Kyogre: Ky-OH-grey
Illumise: Ih-LOO-miss
Ludicolo: Loo-DIH-coh-loh
Salamence: Sah-luh-MEHN-say
Vibrava: VY-bruh-vuh

I usually don't misspell or misprounounce names, but I wanted to point this out here.

All Pokémon names, including the word Pokémon itself, ARE BOTH SINGULAR AND PLURAL. You do NOT add the letter S to the end of any of them to mean more than one. One Pokémon, Two Pokémon, One Mudkip, Two Mudkip.

Other than that, the only misprounciations I've had are with Rayquaza, Larvitar, and Illumise.

And I still refuse to accept that it's pronounced Lar-VAY-tar.

Mispronouced:
Makuhita- Ma-cou-ta
Sableye- Sab-lye
Altaria- Al-tar-a
Tropius- Tro-pus
Psyduck- Pies-duck (sadly enough)
Sceptile- Scep-tile (in the anime it's pronounced something like Seep-tile)

And there are probably a lot more that I can't remember.

A very common misspelling I see online is "Groundon". It's GROUDON. Only one N.

Here's a unique one...before we saw the first anime episodes taking place in Ecruteak City and therefore got to see how the name was pronounced, my sister and I called it "eh-KROO-tee-ak". How lame is that? The obvious "teek" part of the name never even occurred to us.

It was acutally pronounced as 'Sep-tile'. Hehe...

I always thought it was Kai-o-gray for Kyogre...

Hey, for the longest time, I thought it was "Oilvine City". Only until I heard the name in the anime was when I got it right. >>

That's even more unique, in my opinion. Uniquely stupid. ;_;

Pronounciation errors:

Sceptile- "Skep-tyle"

Ludicolo- "Lu-dee-kolo"

Rayquaza- "Ray-kwah-zuh"

Mawile- "Maw-ile"

Illumise- "Ill-oo-miss"

Trapinch- "Trap-nich"

Baltoy- "Ball-toy"

Cradily- "Cray-di-ly

My cousin pronounces Aron like "Aaron"

That's all I can think of. And I still sometimes pronounce them like that

Nothing to be done
I don't watch the show, so I don't know which names I still may be mis-pronouncing, but here are the errors I did discover:

Kyogre- Thought it was (Key-Oh-Gray)

Illumise- Thought it was (Ee-Loo-Mise)

Rayquaza- Thought it was (Ray-Quaw-Zaw)

Chimecho- Thought it was (Chai-Me-Ko)

When I first learned about Pokemon I thought Pikachu was actually "Kikachu" (key-kuh-choo).

I also thought Kyogre was pronounced "Key-ogre", and Rayquaza was "Ray-quah-zah." I still pronounce it that way though. Something about "Ray-qway-zuh" just hurts my brain. >_<

Let's see.. what else? Oh! Gligar... At first I thought it was "glig-ar" instead of "glai-gar." n_n;;

Be Wise, Tell Lies.
Let's see...

Ampharos: Am-fare-ose
Chinchou: Chin-choo
Xatu: Ex-ah-too
Misdreavus: Mis-drea-vee-us
Raikou: Ray-koo
Swellow: Sway-low
Poochyena: Poo-chee-na
Lombre: Lom-bree
Illumise: Ill-oo-my-ze
Sableye: Sab-lie
Numel: Noo-mel
Camerupt: Came [as in, past tense of come]-rupt.
Chimecho: Chime-cho
Vibrava: Vye-bra-va
Groudon: Grow-don
Kyogre: Kai-oh-gree
Rayquaza: Rack-wa-za
Deoxys: Dee-ox-ease

Oh the failure...D:

i don't really watch the show, so i wouldn't really know what stuff i was mispronouncing anyway. fortunately i don't really talk about pokemon much so it's all good. does bulbapedia or whatever it's called have pronounciations for all the pokemon?

on a sidenote, i like to think that some pokemon names can have plural forms. Snorlaxen being one i've actually seen used.

DarKGlalie2

Ice Trainer
Metagross- Pronounced it Meta-Gross with the gross rhyming with Cross I still like the way I prononced it. I did that till I first heard it on the show.

Metal Force

o^_^o PWNZOME
kyogre : kay-gore
misdreavus : med-sar-ves
camerupt : crumport .. I know I know
chinchou : cin-ach-oh
& much much more XD

Where the hell have you seen Snorlaxen being used? It doesn't even begin to sound or look right. o_O;

There have been I think two incidents in the Anime where they messed up and pluralized a name. But both of those have been proven wrong by the already pluralized singular form of the name having been used before or after.

setokaibarocket

Not on much anymore.
My friend keeps pronouncing Kyogre "Kai-Roog" when it's "Kai-Oh-Ger" (sounds like Yu-Gi-Oh :D). It's annoying after a while.
