Yeah, ok!
Considering nobody wants another Misty/May/Hikari poll, let's talk about the two former or not so former Gym leaders that have traveled with our darling Satoshi. LAMLAM.

Assuming Brock can use any of his Pokemon at Pewter Gym and Misty could use any of hers aside from Togetic, which Gym leader would emerge victorious?

Brock has:

Geodude
Steelix
Crobat
Ludicolo
Marshtompt
Foretress
Bonsly

Misty has:

Staryu
Starmie
Goldeen
Azurill
Horsea
Luvdisc
Corsola
Psyduck
Politoed
Gyarados

Who is the stronger trainer of the two?

Mythic Mist

Why must you make me choose ;-;

Anyway, I say Misty, Just cuz Water>Rock and...fanboyism? lol

Decent pokemon Takeshi has:
Steelix
Crobat
Ludicolo
Forretress

Decent pokemon Kasumi has:
Starmie
Gyarados
Politoed

Takeshi wins

Misty would win. Not only does she have the type advantage, but her Pokemon have much more experience then Brock, and they're just all around better fighters. Brock doesn't really have any good Pokemon (really just Steelix), but Misty has several powerhouses, mainly Gyrados and Corsola.

We really don't see Brock battle enough to judge well. He does seem to be better at strategy, though. Given a neutral field, Misty's toast as several of those can't operate on land and those that can don't move quickly enough to take advantage of Brock's big, slow stuff. On a pool of some sort, she wins 7/10. So mostly Brock wins. With that said, Psyduck is the ultimate spanner into any debate involving its owner.

And her Starmie blows. It couldn't even beat Pidgeotto.

Yeah, fear the immense power of a Corsola who gets beat on every occasion, a Luvdisc, and a Goldeen who's main purpose is to flap about.

Does it even matter who is stronger if we never see them fight at all?

People assume she's really good a lot. I've seen no sign of that. Her aura of main-characterness will probably show her to have been super off-screen at some point, though.

We saw her lose to Sakura and get lame copouts on the fighting trio. That's one win out of two, and a cheap one. Outside of that, she beat the Delcatty guy and, with some help from Daisy, blew away Butch and Cassidy.

We saw Daisy win one out of one. A pitiful sampling, but what's four battles either?

Corsola didn't get beat on every ocasion. It was rare to see it get beat, since it has recover, which is an excelent move. And I never once mentioned Luvdisc or Goldeen.

Every time she was challenged to one?

You know, the very same thing can be said of Brock. Every time he was in a gym battle, he wa defeated. Oh, wait. I forgot about the time he beat his mother, who wasn't even a serious trainer, therefore equeling not a serious oponent. Misty's won way more battles then Brock over the years, and most of those were with tougher oponents then Brock faced.

There were two of those. Based on the series as a whole, however, she never really proved to be that good. The only way she was ever able to get around Pikachu was emotional manipulation tricks which would never work on a complete stranger, and anyone who sends out a bug can pretty much count on an instant win. So there's nothing to really suggest she's any good - outside from her being a major character, which is frankly nothing to sneeze at in this series.

Because you realize the majority of her pokemon suck? Okay. Plus, Corsola still got its *** beat, recover or not.

I see you forgot everything that happened in Kanto, huh?

Misty is better than Brock. At least she sends her Pokemon out! Poor Mudkip and Ludicolo never even got to see the light of day. Maybe turning the gym water based would have been a better idea since he already has two and ditched all his Rock types (actually now he only has one because Onix evolved =/).

Thought of that, but Brock has more non-rock types than rocks anymore.

That's what I said, yes? At least Misty sticks with her specialty and sends her Pokemon out. Also, who knows if that Starmie has a hidden Thunderbolt inside it that she would have unleashed if Team Rocket didn't barge in. She also won many battles compared to Brock (a number of battles in the Princess Competition... even if it was Brock and Ash's Pokemon).

Are you forgetting the fact that just about all of Brock's Pokemon suck as well? Crobat, Ludicolo, Marshtompt, and Foretress were all pathetic, neglected, chump Pokemon that weren't worth even being in the show. (And I don't know about Bonsly, but I have a feeling he's going to be the same thing.)

What, you mean Ash beating him? No, I havn't forgotten that. Ash took advantage of the situation, as he should've, and beet Brock. Besides that, Brock really never got into another battle, except for Team Rocket, who are pathetic jerks that anyone can beat.

Misty, on the other hand, actually had a chance of beating Ash, and he had the type advantage, not to mention more experience then when he'd battled Brock. And then she went on to beat quite a few more people over the years. Brock really beat no one.
