Miyazaki My Hero!

Torkoal

What? Exactly
Miyazaki is my idol and arguably the best anime creator ever. His world renowned works like Spirited Away, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Princess Mononoke, and most recently Howl's Moving Castle have earned him fame the world over and a legion of fans. I have decided to make a thread in honor of this great man.

I like Miyazaki's art direction in all of his movies. I have Princess Mononoke and it's my favorite. I'm thinking about getting Howl's Moving Castle and Spirited Away. I might just do a report on Miyazaki for my art teacher if she allows me to.

Miyazaki is indeed a wonderful anime creator =0

My personal fav movie was Spirited Away ;3

I love Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away. No matter how many times I watch those movies, they never get boring :D Miyazaki rules!

Congradulations for stealing my Naruto *cries*. Seriously, I can't deny Miazakis brilliance. His movies have some kind of feel to it unlike anything else I have ever seen. He wins my respect.

I was able to get Howl's Moving Castle and I have to say that the movie was great. I really enjoyed watching it. ^_^ The animation is very detailed, especially with the character Howl.

I love all of Miyazaki's movies! My favorite is 'Spirited Away'. I can't wait to see 'Howl's Moving Castle' or 'Princess Mononoke'. Yeah, I haven't seen a lot of his movies yet, but I still think he's a genius. Another good movie is 'Nausicca of the Valley of the Wind'. That was was pure brilliance. ^_^

Well, I like his movies, but he's a bit overrated. :\ Some people put him on a huge pedastool and say he's the best anime creator/producer ever, which kinda ticks me off because there is better anime creators/producers out there.

Though, to me, Miyazaki is the Walt Disney of Japanese animation (hell, that's a known fact), since all of his movies are huge hits and they were well done, and they were made with a passion to make them, which gives them a magic-feel to them.

My favorite is Porco Rosso. Don't ask, because I don't feel like explaining right now.

Mawile XD

ello thar
Miyazaki is awesome. In a few days I'll watch Howl's Moving Castle.

He's not the best, but he's undoubtedly great.

Whoa, someone else who is a Miyazaki and has seen a fair share of his movies. I feel overwhelmed that I'm not the only one. >_o

Meh, I certainly enjoy all of the movies that I've seen from him (which is five seperate ones), but none of them really blew me away and just made me say "That's how anime should be," the exception being Princess Mononoke (Mononoke-hime for the purists out there) which I viewed recently and became partial to it, although it sadly puts me in the majority of the fanboys who appreciate his movies (then again, I'm also a Berserk and Neon Genesis Evangelion fanboy, and those are both respective standouts in their genre, so...).

The above is not to take away from him, though. I'm glad that his movies are airing on Toonami and airing uncut. It's about time that the kids whose only anime venture realize that anime is more than just the mainstream shounen series that you see every Saturday night on Toonami.

Yeah I do agree. His movies are fantastic but they're the types of films I would only want to watch once. While most anime tv shows I have watched each episode 7 or 8 maybe even 9 times if I like it.

I've seen all of his movies, save Princess Mononoke. I do agree that while they are overrated (particularly My Neighbor Totoro), they are certainly good movies. Perhaps they're not the jaw-dropping, awe-inspiring, no-other-anime-could-beat movies that they're made out to be, but good movies that are worth watching at least once.

Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, ftw.

For me, I like his movies because of the art direction in them. And he's a really good storyteller as well. I have Princess Mononoke and Howl's Moving Castle. But I have to agree what everyone is saying about Miyazaki. There's always someone who's going to be better.

I watched Spirited Away yesterday and it was amazing. I havent watched a film in Japanese Anime except Pokemon 1 2 and 3 but it wiped the floor with them and destroyed them and beat them to a pulp it was that good

I am a big Miyazaki fan myself. His movies are always good, and always incredibly done both in the storylines and in the visuals. Props to you, Miyazaki!

P.S.: I have to disagree with Wolf_Goddess, I don't think they are overrated at all.

Unless you have a serious typo there, Miyazaki is a HE. The first time where I ever saw someone confuse his gender.

Not overrated to the extent of, say, most shounen manga, but yes, they are. A fair share of people put Miyazaki on a God-like status with his movies, and I can certainly think of more impressive movies/series than the ones that he has created.

He's is damn good, yeah, no arguement there. But some of the praises that he receives? Not all of it is completely deserving.

Regardless, I'm curious to actually see Princess Mononoke uncut on Toonami this Saturday. Should be... unique experience, to say the least.

I like Miyazaki for the way he tells his stories, but I'm not so sure I'd call him the best. I simply haven't watched enough different animes to make that kind of judgement, but his work is very nice. I actually just finished watching Howl's Moving Castle and loved it, though like most of his movies has left me slightly confused and wondering.
As for Princess Mononoke playing on CN tomorrow night, I'm not looking forward to it all that much, but I'll still watch. I'm not too big a fan of the english translation and some of the voices, that's all. I suppose I could always pop my copy in and watch it in japanese, but it doesn't really matter.
