Chapter 1: The Beginning

"I need some light" Phyre Darius thought as a bright orange flame erupted from his hand and set a nearby tree on fire. The smoky smell and warmth of the tree burning in the cool night air calmed him. He sat down, his jet black hair full of dirt and swaying in the breeze. Gazing at the blazing tree with his piercing green eyes and listening to the crackling fire, made him wonder if any of his people were alive. He was muscular and tall, like most Mongorians, and had broad shoulders. He was wearing a torn, black shirt and baggy ripped up pants. He had a big hole in the middle of his shirt and scorch marks on his chest. A long cut from his forehead down to his eyebrow was bleeding profusely, and he had scratches all over his body. He tore a long, wide chunk of cloth from his shirt and wrapped it around his head, making sure it was tight enough to stop the cut from bleeding. Phyre was usually cheerful yet silent, but now he had a grave expression on his face. He was very tired, because he had just come from a long walk, so he lay down and slept.

Earlier that day…

A Man was standing on a large stage in front of hundreds of people. “The day of reckoning has come. We are being forced off our planet by Aquorans. To those who do not know the power of the Aquorans, they are monstrous amphibians who can manipulate water. We have waged war for years, and failed. We cannot risk losing anymore people or we will go extinct, so we have resorted to earth! The man said into a microphone.
The man was the Leader of the Mongorians, an alien race (to humans) that appeared human, but could create fire in a snap of their fingers and surround their bodies in fire in the blink of an eye. The Leader was an old man with wrinkles covering his face and gray hair sprouting out from under a hood. He was wearing robes a size to big so his sleeves hung, revealing his hairy yet muscular arms.

“We will get to earth on a spacecraft in the middle of town and there are rooms for everyone. It will take a day to get to earth, and when we do, do not by any means reveal yourselves to any humans, because if we do, they will attack.”

As Phyre walked into the spaceship, he saw a huge room, it was about the size of 7 Football fields and there were many Houses lined up on either side of the room, each with a number on top of the door, Their were even stores in some places. It was like a whole town. Phyre entered his home and unpacked everything. The ship had already taken off. Later he headed off to another meeting in which the Mongorian Leader would be speaking.
The old man arose from a chair behind the podium once everyone was packed in the room. “We are two hours away from earth, and there has been an accident.” The leader said grimly. Gasps echoed throughout the room. “Yes, yes everyone settle down.” The room went quiet. “The generator needed for the ship to land has been deactivated. It can be reactivated, but it will be hard. You see, the generator is outside the ship. We will need to send a couple people out to repair it and reactivate it. If we cant, then we will all crash into the earth, and die on impact.” The whole room exploded with whispers. “Quiet!” screamed the annoyed leader. “We will need volunteers, since our engineers were captured by the Aquorans. So, whoever is willing, please stand up.”

The room went quiet again and everyone looked around. No one in the room seemed willing to risk their own lives to save any others. Phyre thought to himself “This is my chance to prove my self, the chance to prove that I’m someone and not just some silent nobody!” So he stood up. The room exploded with whispers again. Seeing the courage of Phyre, another person stood. It was Thomson Williams. Thompson was tall and muscular. He had sleek brown hair and blue eyes.

“Alright, we have our volunteers. Now will you please give us your names!” demanded the old leader. “Phyre Darius” replied Phyre loudly. “Thompson Williams” he replied “And you both accept to do this in the face of death?” the miserable looking leader asked. “Yes” they replied simultaneously.

Chapter 2: The Betrayal

An hour later, Phyre was in his house getting ready to go out and attempt to fix the generator. He wasn’t quite sure he could do it. He was extremely nervous and was sweating. His normally matted down hair was very messy. He was afraid that he would fail his mission and die in space. There was a nock at the door and someone entered. It was a stony faced guard. “Are you ready?” he asked. “Y-yes.” He replied with a shaky voice.
He entered a room where Thompson was sitting, already in his pearly white space suit. “How are you?” asked Thompson as Phyre slipped the space suit on over his clothes.

“Nervous.” He replied, trying to sound brave. “And you?” he asked.
“Terrified” he replied. ”I never thought this would happen. I mean the best engineers on out planet worked on this spacecraft, and apparently didn’t do much of a job on making sure it would work properly.” He said angrily yet nervously.

A guard entered the room and said “Its time.”
They followed the guard around the corridor to metal sliding doors. He hooked them up tightly to long ropes and tugged it to make sure it worked, then step out of the rooms and closed the Steel door. They heard the click of the lock to make sure the door didn’t blow open. “Ready?” a voice said over the intercom.

“Yes” Phyre said blankly.

Thompson hesitated, and then said “Yeah”.

The doors opened and revealed earth; it seemed so large considering they were only half an hour away. It was beautiful, the bright white, blue, and green earth surrounded by space and stars. “Let’s go” said Phyre, who noticed Thompson gazing at the stars with a mystified look on his face.
They jumped out of the room, moving very slowly. Phyre felt weightless, like he could drift on forever, without a care in the universe.

“Its great isn’t it?” asked Phyre, trying to loosen up Thompson so he wouldn’t be as tense.

“Yeah” he replied miserably. Then Phyre remembered the task at hand and tugged on his rope so he would float on over to the ladder, Thompson repeated and the clung to the ladder and started climbing it slowly.

It took them ten minutes to get to the generator, because it was at the far end of the ship and they were moving so slowly. They finally arrived at the large generator, which seemed perfectly fine on one side, but when the reached the other, it was all torn up and melts a little in some places, like an animal had slashed at it and burned it.

“Alright, let do this.” Thompson said. So they started working on it. It was tough, the wrench they were using kept slipping out of Phyres hand and floating away so he always had to jump off to get it and have Thompson hold the rope and pull him back in. Phyre looked at a time on his Spacesuit; it said they only had five minutes left.

“Hurry!” yelled Thompson. ”Okay, Take off you Gloves! And hurry, we have to weld the cover piece back on so the wires hold!” They pulled of their gloves and tossed them slowly. Tiny orange flames appeared on their fingertips and they started welding it together.
Three minutes. The earth was all they can see now, they were about to reach the O-Zone layer.

Two minutes. “Okay we’ve got it, now signal them to start it up!” scream Thompson. So they both Held up their hands and big bulges of fire started to appear on their hands, like they were charging it. “NOW!” yelled Phyre and the flames shot from their hands. The flames we still erupting from their hands, they were pushed the first fire balls with streams of fire to make them go faster.

One minute. They hit the O-Zone layer; the flames weren’t moving fast enough to reach the front of the ship.
“Thompson, it’s not going to make it, we have to jump or we’ll die!” Phyre screamed. But Thompson wasn’t listening. He was gazing at earth, a terrified look on his face. They were falling very fast now. And Thompson was frozen in fear. “COME ON!” Phyre yelled. He turned around and burnt their ropes off. Phyre jumped, carrying Thompson with him. He heard a loud crash and explosion far behind him. He didn’t dare look, for he knew the spacecraft had just crashed into the ground.

That instant, bright orange flames erupted from Phyres feet as he was falling, then he stopped falling, but instead was flying. The flames erupting from his feet were enabling him to fly so he directed himself down towards the forest below him and set off. While they where flying, Phyre got their space helmets off by going straight down into a dive, the when he pulled up, he looked at Thompson. He had a big smirk on his face.
”Goodbye Phyre” He said, still smirking.

“Wha-“but before the words could escape from his mouth, a bright flame exploded from Thompson’s hand and blasted Phyre right in the chest, he dropped Thompson and started falling then saw flames erupt from Thompson’s feet as Phyre had done and started flying away. Phyre mustered up all the energy he could and got flames to erupt from his feet, he was falling through the forest; the flames weren’t strong enough to enable him to fly. More flames erupted from his ands and his put them next to his body, trying to go faster to make him fly. He felt the tree branches tearing at his flesh as he flew through the trees at a slant and finally, the flames gave up and he stumbled onto the ground, knocked unconscious.

When he awoke, he felt blood trickling down his face from a long cut running along his forehead down his eyebrow. He was lying on his back, staring up into the dark night sky. So he got up, took off his heavy spacesuit, and started walking. He kept picking up leaves and wiping blood off onto them. He walked a few miles until he got to a clearing. He was on earth. It was over, he made it. He found a spot to sleep so he went and burnt down a tree, and fell asleep.
