Mono Ice team

Hunnuli

Grimoire of the Sage
Order isn't set. Seems to do alright. Just wish I had a better, lightning nullifier(had been using Piloswine... but that wasn't working very well).

Cloyster (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Shell Armor
EVs: 252 HP / 236 Def / 20 Spd
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Barrier/Rapid Spn
- Ice Beam
- Spikes
- Surf

---- This guy leads off namely to parry phsyical attacking leads. I don't run into many special sweeping leads. Barrier is mainly for fun and the fact I find little use for Rapid Spin(I don't seem to have issue with spikes, maybe just those that I fight).
Also thought of boosting his SDef(so he could take a hit), but decided, if I got to leave him in against a special attacker the match is likely already over(at leats for him).

Walrein (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Thick Fat
EVs: 172 HP / 40 Atk / 68 Def / 228 SDef
Sassy Nature (+SDef, -Spd)
- Curse
- Earthquake
- Ice Beam
- Protect

--- I use him to absord fire moves. Thinking of switching Ice Beam for surf. Protect is to check if someone is carrying something ugly. That and it lets leftovers work inbetween curses. Thought of replacing protect with rain dance to further weaken fire(however I think two raindancers is enough). So suggest somthing better then protect(maybe that is where I will put surf... though rockslide would be nice there too).

Articuno @ Leftovers
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SAtk
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Haze
- Heal Bell
- Ice Beam
- Reflect

--- My heal beller(and who I use to switch in on a cber I know is going to eq me :p). It also takes care of stat uppers. Thinking of maxing its speed(or cloes to it) rather then its attack; that or add to defenses. I don't attack much with it anyways.(Reflect of course is a god send to ice types).

Lapras (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Water Absorb
EVs: 160 Def / 252 SAtk / 96 SDef
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Rain Dance
- Thunder

---My water type killer(and water move absorber). Most waters can't touch it. So I Rain Dance and then use whatever I need to kill the enemy or switch if I am outmatched.

Jynx (F) @ Lum Berry
Trait: Oblivious
EVs: 120 HP / 196 Spd / 192 SAtk
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Ice Beam
- Lovely Kiss
- Psychic

--- I am fairly sure this is self explainatory. Though I don't know if I got the EV's right or not.

Regice @ Leftovers
Trait: Clear Body
EVs: 140 HP / 56 Def / 4 Spd / 252 SAtk / 56 SDef
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Ice Beam
- Rain Dance
- Thunder
- Thunder Wave

---This is who I put in Piloswine's place. No weakness to Thunder and has that amazing SDef. Only issue is he doesn't really 'counter' thunder types. Also he supplies support to the team with raindance. Killing the fire types power is really important. Thunder Wave of course brings people down to the speed of my ice types(Jynx Excluded).

I lack on the physical front. Blissey(or a special wall in general) can really give me issues. Swords Dancing Sneasel might prove interesting. Though I don't know how I could get an SD in.

I also want to note, that I really don't have much experience/confidence with EV layouts.. so meh.

Eh, Ice Monos are probably one of the worst monos to do due to the lack of vareity (only like 5 pokes) that all do the same thing.

That being said I would watch out for zapdos/aerodactyl/houndoom of course.

Also, thunderdancing isn't too good.

Well, I don't get to use thunder all that much. I do it mainly to keep the firetypes(or just the firemoves, whichever) off of me. The Ability to thunder was just a nice bonus after words.

Aero can be taken on by Cloyster(or so it has occured before[people underestimate cloysters defense) one on one.

Houndoom... I can try and get to go one on one with Walrein(though catching the little guy could be a pain). Or possibly have Regice take him with a raindance.

Zappy is a pain, but so far Regice has aided the defeat enough to the point where I consider him only a pain and not a team breaker.

In addition if I pull off a reflect, Aero ain't an issue at all..

Another thing I need to try and add is a light screener(Piloswine used to do that much for me at least).

I want to note, It is far more dificult to isolate them against thier counters then it is to say it. Particually since the counters aren't true counters. One screw up in prediction and I will be in deep trouble.

Trait: Shell Armor
EVs: 252 HP / 236 Def / 20 Spd
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Hyper Beam (it's a good attack)
- Ice Beam
- Spikes (they suck! use toxic!)
- Surf

- Protect (why protect?!? use return, its more powerful if your peokemon like you!)

You need more toxic. you have a lot to learn before you become a pokemon master like me.

A "Pokemon Master" wouldn't suggest putting Toxic on all 6 pokemon. Damn trolls.

Ouch... Good point. Maybe set Articuno with A flying attack and attack power? Is their any other ice type that could go head on with him other then Arti(if I get lucky with lovely kiss Jynx could do it... though anyone smart would switch foreseeing the CM's) ?

--Anyways, if you can think of a way to kill medi with an ice poke, tell me(or just affirm that a fly attacking articuno is the only way).

Another one that I have some issues with is Lanturn. Can't thunder it. Resists surf and ice beam. Would resist a flying move from Arti. And Walrein does NOT like stabbed Thunderbolts. So far Jynx has had to take him out.... however, if jynx has already sleeped one person.... Well I 3hko Lanturn(unless I hit high) and he [can] 2hko me. I may be faster.... but you get the drift. Or if Jynx got KO'ed earlier :(. However, It isn't like I can't take him, I just gotta be careful about it. If only Piloswine got some SDef. He would work nice against lanturn then.

Piloswine doesn't need SDef to kill Lanturn, it should be able to get the OHKO on Lanturn and Lanturn shouldn't be able to do the same. Downside is Piloswine sucks the big one. As for Medicham, Arti really is your best if not your only option, go for alot of Defence please. However, Ice Beam will do more than a flying move so don't bother trying for a flying move. Medicham is squishy so a few hits on the switch in and it's boned.

With Bell on Arti go for Rest > Protect on Walrein.

Piloswine could do a whole lot for this team just as an electric resist and taking neutral damage from HP Ice, it would be a very valuable asset IMO, even if it does blow the big one. You're Lapras sucks btw, you call it your "Water type killer" yet Walrein will be more than capable of doing that. Sneasel is squishy, hard to get into play and very exposed, but you have no physical sweeper on this team so I guess it's worth considering. Break/ShaBall/Dance/FP ro something to that effect and he's good to go.

Why do people complain about weaknesses on Mono Ice. Also, lack of Walrein = suck

I worded that horrendously. What I meant was that if he got SDef so that he could do more then just counter one pokemon(and I guess pokemon type) that I can already deal with somewhat.

Will give it a shot.

That is why I started off using it. However, for the most part Regice handles the thunderers. And Piloswine... well, one special attack other then electric and he will be in some major pain.

Well reason I use lapras as a water killer is that it absords water. However, I am trying a DD variety. Though with no physical stab, low attack, and limited physical movepool I ain't one hundred percent sure I should go that route. But that would take care of putting another physical on my team and of making another way to get around a CM Suicune other then hazing it.

Hmm... He'll get a go after I try this DDPras out.

Needs more Sneasel. In conjuction with Thunder Wave and confusion it's not that hard to get him in and set him up. Can sweep whole teams.
