Mono-Water Team on Ruby

RoboRaph

Well-Known Member
I'm doing a sort of challenge thingy, but I'm allowing myself to trade eggs which have been breeded on Emerald. The eggs can have breeded TMs but not HMs. Other than that no trades except for trade evolutions or to fill the Pokédex, and no trading items except for evolution items. And nothing OU or legendary is allowed in the team.

Badges: 7
Pokédex: 67 (100 will let me use Pokémon Box)
Location: About to face Groudon.

Peppu the Pelipper ♂ @ Mystic Water
{Modest} [Keen Eye] Lv.37
~Surf
~Shock Wave
~Ice Beam
~Fly

EVs: 98 HP, 100 Def, 252 Sp. Atk, 60 Speed

Caught at level 23. Fly is only for getting around.

Gorma the Slowking ♂ @ Lax Incense
{Calm} [Own Tempo] Lv.34
~Psychic
~Surf
~Flamethrower
~Calm Mind

EVs: 252 HP, 100 Def, 162 Sp. Atk

Mudgeon the Marshtomp ♂ @ Sea Incense
{Serious} [Torrent] Lv.34
~Surf
~Mud Shot (Earthquake later)
~Mud-Slap
~Strength

My starter, not EV trained, and I'm not evolving it. Ideas for a replacement are welcome though.

Enyeyn the Lanturn ♀ @ Chesto Berry
{Modest} [Volt Absorb] Lv.35
~Thunderbolt
~Surf
~Rest
~Confuse Ray

EVs: 118 HP, 252 Sp. Atk, 100 Sp. Def, 40 Speed

I'm thinking of using a Heart Scale to get Thunder Wave, but I'm undecided for the moment.

Crayel the Huntail ♂ @ Blackglasses
{Modest} [Swift Swim] Lv.37
~Surf
~Ice Beam
~Crunch
~Rain Dance

EVs: 6 HP, 252 Sp. Atk, 252 Speed

Crawly the Crawdaunt ♂ @ Nothing
{Jolly} [Hyper Cutter] Lv.33
~Rock Smash
~Cut
~Leer (Waterfall later)
~Dive

Fished it up in Petalburg with a Good Rod. I treat it as part of the team, it's not a slave. At least it walls some of the psychics in the game.

PatTar

All you need is:

Poke@held_item
________ nature
- move
- move
- move
- move

@ nightcat:

1) Why Protect on Pelipper?

2) Why Aerial Ace? I need Fly only to get around, and otherwise I wouldn't put a physical attack on it.

3) I don't have access to Leftovers yet, and only one will be available on the ship.

4) No Swampert because it is UO, and I clearly stated no OUs at the start.

5) Surf is clearly better than Hydro Pump for in-game purposes.

6) My Crawdaunt's purpose is for HMs, but even so the set you posted isn't good.. a set with Swords Dance should have at least 2 physical moves and optionally one STAB move.

7) The team was copied from another forum, hence the formatting.

Also, I'm looking for ideas for Poliwrath and Whiscash.

1. protect is good for both annoying, seeing what move the opponent will use, etc.

2. you can put rest or sub there actually.

3. Do you have emerald? Then you can get unlimited.

4. That's ok, swampert's just better. You can kepp it as marshtomp cause it can still learn the right moves.

5. I know, swampert has not-so-great sp. atk, and obviously Marshtomp has pretty bad ones. You can have surf if you want.

6. You know what? screw that set!
Crawdaunt@lefties/leichi berry
adamant nature
- surf
- sludge bomb/aerial ace
- brick break
- swords dance

Sludge bomb beats grass and has more power, but AA beats both grass and fighting, with less power.

7. Ah, good. I really don't like it when people post all kinds of extra stuff.

I don't know about Poliwrath, but:

Whiscash@lefties/something...
naughty/brave nature
- surf
- earthquake
- rest
- sleep talk

I do have Emerald, but I'm not trading with it as I'm doing a challenge game like I said at the start. And no move tutors are in Ruby so I can't use them.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I was thinking along the lines of:

Whiscash
Quiet nature
- Earthquake
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Spark

The team is meant to be a mix of UU and NU Pokémon, because I wanted to try something different. So far, they have been very effective against the crappy in-game trainers, and EV training has certainly helped. The only Pokémon I'm willing to replace are Marshtomp and Crawdaunt.
