• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

Managed to hunt with a group of HR70's yesterday, and nabbed myself a ton of rathalos items. I've been thinking of adding a bow, but can't decide between a rarity-4 with 140 power/1 slot/200 water damage or a rarity-3 with 160power/2 slots/200 explosive damage.

You should really ignore rarity, it's basically meaningless. As for your choice, Blast damage got a huge nerf this generation and is next to useless unless all 4 hunters are using Blast weapons, which is unlikely. Coupled with the fact that nothing is weak to Blast, you'd be better served with an actual element.

So from overpowered to nigh pointless? Okay then. (Yet to use blast myself).

I suppose it might have uses in multiple monster quests (less so if there's multiple people to vary weapon elements used) or if you're struggling to break specific monster parts.

I meanwhile cleared all HR6 and below single quests, including The Caravaneer's Challenge. Managed that with the help of (low-levelled) G rank Tetsu armor, although did have some dumb carts. Smashed s. magala though. =)

Had an interesting G rank expedition recently. Decided to give it a go as it was the first rare one I encountered, unstable but only showing a Ruby Basarios. Turned out that two of those spawned, and I beat them both. Then a Deviljho showed up.

And then a Savage Deviljho showed up. :V Wrecked me, I couldn't even get them to give me a tear before I decided it's a waste of time especially when they could two-hit me. But my stealing-forte cats got me a Deviljho Crook out of it, haha.

Blast is still your best choice for quests where you're going up against multiple monsters that lack a shared weakness.

It's anything but useless, and it's still great for breaking parts. Some monsters are still weak against it, as well, such as Dia/Monoblos and Kushala Daora.

Nothing is weak to Blast, Blast damage is a completely neutral damage type.

Is there anyway to get more super mushrooms or are the dlc ones the only ones? I ask because it's not enough to craft all mario palico equipment.

They're weak in the sense that they either take significantly more damage from the explosion and/or explode faster then other monsters.

For instance, Brachydios is resistant, as it takes 200 points of blast status damage to explode, and only takes 100 damage from the explosion, whereas Kushala Daora takes only 55 points of blast status for an explosion and takes 200 damage from it.

They'll be released in an event quest down the line. I wouldn't have used mine if I had known there was a HR version of the hammer and Mario Bros. outfits sooner.

So I hav a question for all you MH4 players. This seems like a game I'd really enjoy getting into, but I don't want to buy the new 3ds just to play this game. Do you think that I should consider buying it if I'm gonna be playing it on the normal 3ds XL?

It's the exact same game, the only difference is you get a built in Circle Pad Pro and higher resolution textures if you play on a New 3DS XL.

So would you recommend getting the Circle pad pro if I played this? I did try the demo so I'm not walking into the game blind, but the general consensus I've been hearing is that the Circle Pad is a necessity to play this well.

I highly recommend it, yes. But there are many people who play without it, depends on how much camera control you prefer.

What does HR mean?

Actually I think the most significant difference is loading times. I played some MH3U on my "old" 3ds and seem to remember some nasty loading screens, and I have a friend playing MH4U on an "old" XL who I definitely heard complain about the loading times. However, playing on a new 3ds, I really don't feel it's much of a problem.

Also- thanks for explaining HR!

Hi guys, any tips for Egg-straction: Wyvern? Should I slay the rathian or try to ignore it?

I myself got rid of it first, then get the eggs. They always seem to chase me down to the ends of the map otherwise...

Yes, it's supposed to follow you. If you do it right though you can be leaving an area just when it arrives, and by the time it arrives in the next area you're leaving again.

Okay so Mh4U has become my favorite 3ds game. I have beaten all of the 6-star caravan missions available to me except the Daimyo Hermitaur urgent mission , and just discovered I need to increase my HR to at least 4 in order to unlock more 6-star missions. I have worked my way up to HR 2 and while it isn't difficult I am feeling a bit lonely doing guild missions by myself.

So- Does anyone want to play? My F.C. is In my sig. I am a Charge Blade user, mostly Axelion Blade currently. Please Pm me your F.C. I'd love to play together, with people of all levels!

I've reached dalamadur and need help with the fight. Anyone up for it?

Edit: Never mind, beat dala and ulkanos or whatever that thing is called, reached G1. Still' I would like to play with others, especially now that I've reached G rank

I've been taking my time with this game. I really only play with close friends, just because we have a merry old time playing it. And by taking my time I mean I'm only HR6. I've played the series for ages, I just get picky with who I play with. And I get picky about what monsters I make armour sets of. Right now I'm running High Rank Gore armour. I love Switch Axe more than anything.
