Month of Miyazaki on Toonami

YES! Starting March 18th, Cartoon Network's Toonami will be showing four of Miyazaki's films: Spirited Away, Castle in the Sky, Princess Mononoke, and Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. I am not sure of the order, by the way. These are wonderful animated films. And I just love the music (has Nausicaa and Totoro piano solo book). I'm so excited. I can't miss any of these.

Yay!! I love Princess Mononoke, it's like my favorite movie <3 Though I wonder if it'll be edited on Cartoon Network. It's got a few bloody scenes in it. o.o

I heard that when Disney was doing another one of his movies a few years ago, Studio Ghibli sent Disney a sword (a katana I suppose) engraved with the words "No cuts." lol I don't know if that's true, but I want to say it is. Anyway, that's a little off subject.

I don't think Cartoon Network will cut it. It is Toonami's block, so they let a some things slide more. Spirited Away wasn't edited even though the bloody scenes were fairly short. I think it's safe to say that all the movies will be shown in their full english glory.

>_> I hope they still show at least Naruto. The last thing we need is to be a whole fricking month behind Canada...

I love Studio ghibli films and i'm glad it's being aired again on CN they showed spirited away on friday and sunday forgot when. I own all of these anime, but i'll watch anyways only thing can't fast forward commercials. >.<
I can't wait to see more on the next anime they're working on now.

I'll be watching them all despite the fact that I plan on getting them on DVD eventually, but I'll be definitely interested in seeing how Princess Mononoke is handled and if anything will be cut. If it goes entirely uncut... then I'll bet that you'll have a lot of more elitists complainin' about Naruto not getting that treatment (and to be honest, I can't say that their arguement wouldn't be justified, either).

Should be interesting to see that one of the greatest anime film directors of all time get publicized on a kids network after the last month of showing (I forgot the specific channel, suffice to say).

Disney Movies on Cartoon Network?! I HATE DISNEY!! Why, CN?! WHY?!!
What's wrong with taking the good stuff? It's traditionally an anime, anyway, so who cares where it's from.

They are not Disney Movies, genius, they are just dubbed by Disney (some of them, I think). >.>; Studio Ghibli makes the films. And they aired on TCM, so CN has every right to air them, since both channels are owned by Ted Turner himself.

On another note, yay! This is going to be cool. ^_^ Even if I seen just about all of these movies on TCM, it's nice to be able to see them again. I'm thinking about getting the movies on DVD, but not right now.

By the way, why aren't they showing Porco Rosso? That has to be one of Miyazaki's best films...EVER!

Good or bad, I hate Disney in general.
Well, Disney didn't CREATE the movies, they just dub them. Or distribute them, or something other than creating.

Anyway, horrah for Miyazaki movies. I've already seen Sprited Away, Princess Mononoke, *and* Nausicaa, but hopefully Castle in the Sky will make up for that :p

I've already seen Spirited Away (very weird, but very good), Castle in the Sky (awesome), and Nausicaa (confusing at the beginning, but real good.) Haven't gotten around to seeing Princess Mononoke yet, but I'd like to. I guess I'll watch whatever I can.

Joy! Me and my friends are rather large Miyazaki fans! So far, I have seen Spirited Away, Catsle in the Sky, and have read part of the Nausicaa. I realy wish to see mononoke. Looks excellent, but I hear it's a tad gorey.

If anything, only small parts could be cut, just to fit an appropriate time slot. I doubt there will be any significant cuts, however. You really can't compare how the Ghibli films and Naruto anime (or any other for that matter) are done. The Ghibli films are immensely popular worldwide, first of all. Another thing is that not only are the films and Naruto completely different, they were created by totally different creators. Of course those who licensed them for dubbing will have different views of how to do things.

Only the older ones would show because the others currently in English are still fairly new, meaning that they still want to make money from the DVDs. Too bad Kiki's Delivery Service won't be showing. Maybe because that's the only one the Disney Channel does show every now and then.

Yes! I was quite excited when I saw the commercial on CN for this.

I've seen them all except Nausicaa.

Although I wish they would show three movies that I really want to see again:

Porco Rosso, My Neighbor Totoro, and Kiki's Delivery Service.

What puzzles me is that they actually did show Totoro on Turner Classic Movies, yet, they aren't showing it on Cartoon Network. Totoro is AWESOME!
Why aren't they showing it? -_-;

Well, at least we get something. I'm definitely going to pack up on the snacks and stay at home for this. XP
