Month of Miyazaki Week 4: Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind

[imgsize=150]http://img118.imageshack.us/img118/4084/warriorsofthewind8tu.jpg[/imgsize]
Erm...whoops! Wrong poster...but they aren't showing this very bad dub of it at least...it's a movie so nice; they dubbed it twice! Even worse to Miyazaki, this previous one doesn't even exist!

Now THAT'S better...The Valley of Wind is in an ecological crisis...and only Nausicaa can stop it!

And don't forget, Month of Miyazaki isin't over until the fat lady...or should I say fat Totoro sings! Catch the "unoffical" end of the Month of Miyazaki with "My Neighbor Totoro" on Cartoon Network this Thursday at 7pm EST.

Meanwhile on Transformers right before this thing(!!), Megatron is fighting Optimus Prime on Cybertron, which admittedly sounds like the synopsis of any other episode, but not really because they haven't been on Cybertron for a while now!

Feh, I have been figuring since everyone always raves about these movies, I'd just sit there after Transformers was done and see what they're about, but they're so long that I usually decide to do something else, but although 7:00-7:30 is always awesome for me, once I'm watching TV for over an hour it's sort of an inconvenient time really, and sometimes I don't really like it. I really like Spirited Away except then my friends came over and they usually force me to come with them and they're pretty lame but that's how they are.. some friends. It was an awesome movie, too, I think.

With regards to this one, the plot sounds very interesting. I hope I get to watch it and nothing interrupts me like it usually does!

I have a question. In the previews they've been showing, I could have sworn I heard Patrick Stewart's voice. Is he in the dub?

This is the first movie they've shown I have not seen and I'm looking forward to it.

This movie is really great! This one should be my second fave Miyazaki movie. First is Princess Mononoke and third is Castle in the Sky. This one have dramatic in the near end of the movie. It's pretty similar to the death of Celebi in Pokemon 4ever.

An excellent movie! It was completely different than the manga though. It didn't go through all about the humans, the origin of the forest, the emeperors, the fate of the humans and all speicies, how humans did this, blah blah, dang they just cut out all the good stuff -.- I liked it though, but the manga was better. Then again, in movie was Nausicaa x Abel(well, more than the manga XD) so I'm happy. The ending was SWEET though. I just wish they put in everything. If you like the movie, read the manga! I pwns.

I'm gonna buy this on DVD for the sake of watching it without commericals. I realy loved this movie. It was exilent. I like this furter of the world, as opposed to the 'Tron' future of the world look

Weren't people told just to believe that Warriors of the Wind never existed. NEVER!! We should erase such garbage from our memories. I'm actually interested in watching it though...

Anyway, I love Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. It's one of my favorites along with Castle in the Sky. I wish I had a glider like Nausicaa's. LOL That would be so fun.

Yeah, I've heard about the manga for the movie and I should be looking for it. I've read that it does have so much more that the movie cut out (tell you the trueth, I hear this about litterally 50% - 75% of every anime series =P). But I've also read that [SPOIL]Teto dies in the manga[/SPOIL] ;_;.

Anyway, Nausicaa is the first anime that I was able to see Raw, we had a Japanese speaking person (actually, the guy was infact Japanese =P). It definitely was a new experence to have a living person translate everything that's going on in the movie, heh. It was also for the first 5 movies I've ever seen in Japanese and known it was an actual "anime" and not an american made cartoon as well. This is also the first of the Miyazaki movies I was able to watch as well. From what I recall the movie was made back in 1983 =P.

For everyone that saw my responce in "Castle in the sky", this is where I fell in love with Teto-san/Fox-Squirrels in general, heh. HE was an instant hit with me and I successfully annoyed several friends there after with my obsession XD. But the movie itself was incredible. Since I own the DVD I liked to watch it every once in a while because of that. But, like with all of Miyazaki master pieces, everything about the movie was spot on excellent, from music to animation to plot, I couldn't think of a way to make the series any better then it already is. ^^ (well, besides adding in all the scenes from the manga from page to page)

Speaking of the manga, where's a good place to purchase it if even possible?

Also a little fact that I've heard over the years, but I've heard that Miyazaki is a fan of flying. That's why there's a lot of flying scenes in a lot of the movies he makes. =P

[SPOIL]Yes Teto does die. It was either from the God Warrior or lack of oxygen in the atmossphere. Blah, I can't remember.[/SPOIL] As for the manga, I dunno. I borowed from my friend. Try a comic store or something *nods* By the way, where'd you get the Teo plushie? I want one T-T

I miss it last night as I was watching Smaurai 7 anime(based off "The 7 Samurai). But I did see some clips of it at SVA pre college course, and I thought what I saw was fasinating. Some day I'll watch it. Castle in the Sky and Kiki Delivery Service are my fav. Wonder if Toonami will ever air Pom Poko! LMAO.

Very true.

I saw a couple of volumes at Barns&Noble the last time I was there. I can also PM you a link to a website if you want to order it.

Lol. I think TCM's going to be showing that one in May, though.

As for the movie, this is by far my favorite Miyazaki film.

Those are so cute! Do you also know where I could get a plush Teto like those? Anyway, I did see most of this movie. I missed a bit of the middle. I still thought that it was a beautiful movie. I loved the whole plot the most. I just didn't like how commercials came up evey ten mintues and how they fast forword through the credits so that no one could really tell how everyone was turning out. I have noticed that there is a lot of flying in his movies and him being a fan of flying makes sense. I may buy this movie, as well as some of his other movies, just to see them when I wish without commercials.
