I ws having a debat with Ex_Kyogre the other day about wheather this would be such a good idea. He thinks yes and I think no. So I decided that it would be a good idea to see what the rest of the serebii population thought.

Here are my reasons for disagreeing to it.
Zelda games are great because of the story and the dugions IMO, and many Zelda games do not have war in them and are still great, in fact I cannot recall one which does.

What do you think. Vote then post your reply.

I like Zelda the way it is without wars, Wars would be too much like Lord of the Rings or Dynasty Warriors it seems and takes it away from the main theme of the game.

You were quick to post here, you voted before I did. lol
That was my point exactly. I think that Zelda is about adventure, not war.

I voted that it shouldn't change.

It just wouldn't work. Having other people fight the monsters won't work. First of all, you, and only you, are able to fight and save the world in Zelda games. All of the NPC are supposed to helpless weaklings who flee at the slightest sign of anything bad. That won't happen if hundreds, or even thousends of people are fighting Moblins all across the country.

Second, I don't beleive that in the Zelda games, anybody ever died because of the monsters (exept for the Deku Tree and the two sages from the Wind Waker). If there will be a war, there is bound to die someone.

Third, how are you supposed to be beating levels when there are hundreds of Moblins outside, slaughtering the Hyrulian population. And if all of Ganon's monsters are busy fighting the Hyrulian army, who remaines to protect the dungeons.

Fourth, it just won't fit to the story. I like it how it is done in OoT, where there is a war when you are absent.

I just want to say that I think that you are absolutly right. Although I never actually thought about the dieing and helpless thing.

Ex_Kyogre it looks like more people side with me.

Well, war could work you know. Nobody said you had to participate, I mean in Dynasty Warriors, you soloed the entire enemy army anyway.
You could just use the combat as a distraction, or solo the whole of Ganon's army like you usually do.

Although you do have a goos point, something Jellsprout said shows that your thoury wouldnt fit

If the people would fight for them selves, then there wouldnt be such a horrible future in OoT when link is kept sleeping for 7 years. Your point is a good one though.
Oh, and nice avatar lol.

I have thought at maybe a spinoff game based on the Great war would work, but I can't see Nintendo doing something like that, the only spin-offs they allow have no affect on the main story of their games e.g Metroid Pinball.

I was thinking that very same thing. But they would have to call it something else, as I do not think that Link or Zelda were alive during the great war.

And I do not know if nintendo wouldnt do something like that because wasnt four swords a spin off from zelda, and that has quite a big effect on the main story, Correct me if i am wrong.

If you want it to be added just for the extra variety I can understand, but turning Zelda into a hack 'n slash like Dynasty Warriors would ruin the point of the Zelda series.

I completly agree with you but I just want say that to add it as another game in the series, but under a different name, like one which centered around the great war, I think that that would be a great idea. But instread of controling a group of people, you would control one charactor and have AI on you side, like the knights of Hyrule or something.

Four Swords isn't really that much different from the other 2D Zelda's. This would probably require a different combat control scheme from other Zelda's

I would like to see one Zelda game mainly about a war with ganon. Link would fight in the war, spy on ganon's army, and stratigize to win the war. You would be able to ride on horses for land fights and ride on birds for sky fights, while ganon's army would rely on overpowered creatures adding difficulty to the game. The game would not just be all about the war but events leading up to it making the war, the climax of the game.

Also
I do not think that Link or Zelda were alive during the great war.

Every game has a different setting, they take place at different times and there is more than one Link. I believe Zelda is immortal because she re-appears in different games which are hundreds of years apart. This is why I believe a game set during the great war could work. What I would want even more is an oblivion type Zelda for revolution set during the great war, a first person slasher using the controller as a sword and the nunchaku to move. That would convince me to buy a revolution over a ps3 but I don't see that in the near future.

Did everyone forgot about those guys? It's kinda their job to fight.

priorities. Inside those dungeons are always some sacred artifacts that are needed to defeat Ganon, therefore they're more important than any battle.

No... all of the little kids who play Zelda, if they get this game, will probably be wondering ''Why is there war? There wasn't ware before". IMO, if Nintendo was ever going to include war, it should've been in the Wind Waker.

That has to be the stupidiest reason yet. Why would they be wondering that when they'd be amazed by the awsome story line, graphics, game play. There are no "little kids" who play Zelda first of all the game is to hard for "little kids" second of all the next game isnt directed at "little kids". I'm sorry I didn't write more but the stupidity of this post angers me.

._. I played Zelda when I was 8. Anyway, I agree my above post was quite stupid, but in truth kids do play zelda, *coughminishcapcoughcough* and might be interested in Twilight Princess. It's that simple, even if it's not aimed at kids. Look at Halo. Most of the people who play it are rich 12 year olds. And it's true. Why wouldn't the console versions of kid's favorite portable games be appealing to them?

They should never change legend of zelda. They should have like Ocarina of time or Majora's mask as they were the best games.

What would more war do to Zelda that would make it better? :\ Nothing, my friend, nothing. All it'll do is make it more violent and there is no general need for a Zelda game to be in a huge and violent war. And I think that it's already telling of war is relevant enough for me than to actually play it. And besides, most Zelda games are in a conflict that can be considered a war, so why ask for more when it's perfect the way it is?
