Most Creative Kanto Pokémon

Most Creative Kanto Pokémon

This is inspired by two groups of people;
-Those who always rag on generations that AREN'T from the era of GRBY, and insist that no other gen will surpass the originally of pokémon initially located in Kanto.
-Those who always rag on Kanto for having uninspired ideas and a severe lack of creativity.

The topic itself is pretty straightforward- Select a pokémon from Kanto that you feel was particularly ingenious, and explain why you think so.

Electabuzz and Magmar both get my vote. For starters, it's incredibly difficult to determine just exactly what the hell they're based on, if anything. Especially Magmar, who seems like the type of fictional creature to spring forth from the mind of a mad genius. But despite the fact it's hard to figure out how Gamefreak managed to conjure up these guys, they just look downright cool. Electabuzz, with it's rather portly build, yet ferocious face and muscular arms and Magmar with it's duck bill, head-boobs and multiple features including protruding spikes and strange body patterns.

Pikachu and Raichu are also up there too. Yes, they're obviously based on some sort of rodent/lagomorph, but so what? They both have a lot of characteristics and design ideas that make them really unique critters, at least in my opinion. I've noticed a lot of people seem to overlook this for one reason or another, though it usually stems from the line being 'overated'.

Runners-up include the likes of the two Hitmons, Victreebel's Pitcher Plant Posse and the Bulbasaur clan.

Yay!

Hitmons- Well, I still can't figure out why the hell Hitmonchan seems to be dressed like a steroid-using tennis playing highschool girl, and why Hitmonlee looks like a potato with legs.

Lickitung- A fat, pink thing with a huge tongue. And they don't make it look like any stereotypical lizard!

Exeggcutor- A Palm-tree with coconut heads makes me laugh every time!

AJ Flibble

Emohawk
Exeggutor works well with it's quirky randomness, and putting cannons on a turtle for Blastoise was original back then.

The Benmeister

Master of Magnet
Ninetails, being a fire type fox that has an influence from ghost and ghost type attacks, and has multiple tails. Nine, in fact (who would've thought?)

The Benmeister

Master of Magnet
Meh, it's contrasted enough from the Kyuubi for me.

It's a different colour, for one thing.

I agree that there are better examples but I just have a soft spot for Ninetails.

Going to agree with Gravy and say Electabuzz.

Why? because the episode Showdown in Dark City.

That shot of Electabuzz's arm (covered in ketchup.) ready to smash while it's electricity coursing through it is just too cool.

Liek woah Magmar yes

However, Kabutops is also pretty creative IMO. I know Kabuto is based off of the Horseshoe crab (and helmets. Wear one of those while riding a bike :p). Kabutops seems to have something in common with trilobites as well; however, the large, metallic claws growing out of its arms, coupled with the rib like extentions of its verebrae make it the coolest Pokémon ever.

Oh, wait, was this supposed to be the most creative? My bad. I meant that it was the most creative Pokémon ever.

Back I guess??
I´ll say...

Slowbro
I like how Shellder transforms into it´s new evolution and how they added it. Scary shells are awesome!

Tangela
It´s fun and I call it creative, it could be a little more complex, but it´s nice the way it is.

Electric-Fire duo
I agree with Gravy about Electabuzz and Magmar, they´re as simple as their Kanto buddies, but they also got some creativity.

Porygon
Virtual ducks ftw! I like the way it was designed, and it´s one of few Pokémon that had relatives in 3 generations! (Electabuzz, Magmar, Eevee and Chansey are in the list too)

And to end the list:
Jolteon :D
It deserves mention for everything good!

>_< why I can´t choose just one...

Yes, Lickitung is pretty unique. The Bulbasaur line was also novel, in its time.
Jigglypuff is endlessly creative. Though the most creative generation was, in popular consensus among smart people, Johto.

magmar, staryu and starmie, electabuzz, mewtwo that's all i got1 -_^

parasectdude

Wants name change
The ones already said, Parasect family (if it wasn't for them, parasites wouldn't have sprung into Game Freak's mind and there would be no 'fusions'), Electrode family, Gastly (ghost gas!), Grimer family, Doduo family (must have been the name that sparked off the idea). This generation had loads of creativity!

Juputoru

M-m-m-m-onobear?!
Slowbro - Mostly due to the Shellder on its tail, which it magically gains upon evolution and looks nothing like an actual Shellder.
Eevee - Ah, back when one Pokemon having a split evo line was unique.
Porygon - Admit it, if anyone suggested a virtual Pokemon NOW and Porygon and its kin had never existed, everyone would laugh at the idea. Luckily for us, GF used that idea and made it work marvelously.
Nidoran M & F - Another thing that was unique back in the day but isn't much to write home about now.
Magmar - It's a fire duck...with random cuffs on its ankles and wrists...and a weird head...and random spikes...the "what the hell?" factor dominates here.
Ditto - Bubblegum that turns into Pokemon and can't do anything else? Sounds pretty damn creative to me.
Mewtwo - Although obviously based on a horrifically mutated cat, it's all the little details that make it creative. The thin neck that probably wouldn't support its head without the aid of that odd arc between its head and its mid-shoulder area, the fingers that end in rather useless-looking circles, the feet with a toe high above the others, the color scheme which makes absolutely no sense when compared to Mew(pink to white and purple?), its HUGE upper legs, its skinny arms...it does "horrible mutant" quite well.

Back I guess??
Oh yeah, forgot Nidoran M and F, they were creative adding them in the first gen known as the "only gendered Pokémon". Maybe those two bunnies started the idea of the breeding center (o_O? No they didn´t...)

I like Juputoru´s Porygon, well said ;D

Irene

Rather bizarre
Magmar, Electabuzz, Lickitung get my votes, for the already mentioned reasons.

Anyway, I say the poli family. I still think the idea of spiral-like guts is pure genius.

Noodles

Dazzled By The Roses
for me the most creative kanto pokemon would be Doduo and Dodrio coz they are the first siamese pokemon..

The Nido line's pretty original.

Scyther is just pure awesome.

But seriously, what the hell is Chansey? Sure, it's not too complex, but it's pretty different to the others.
