Most Overrated and Underrated Pokemon

Right, this is probably the 312701th time a thread like this has popped up in this site's history, but I haven't found any that are exactly recent (or at all). Thus, I have created this. If it's a problem, close it.

Right, this is pretty simple. I'll start:

Overrated
Charizard - draconic appearance, every kid think's it's awesome and leet, not that amazing.

Pikachu - mostly the anime, and being the most well-known Pokemon, is bound to be overrated.

Pretty much every Dragon type except for Flygon and Altaria - although the Dragons are powerful, many die within 2 Ice Beams, and the designs are overrated.

Underrated, most likely with a bit of favouritism
Dewgong - yes, here's my bias coming through, but everyone forgets it exists and says it's crap. Although it may not be strong, Surf and Ice Beam are still useable, and the remainder of it's bad movepool is at least half-useful. Plus, it's cute, which people never say or notice.

Machamp - more bias. It's strong, and many people know that, but it's so overshadowed compared to Heracross and Blaziken. Sure, they ARE good, but people don't acknowledge Machamp's power or even it's somewhat decent HP, because apparently, pure Fighters suck. It's slow, yes, and I suppose I understand why some find it ugly, but it is deadly and four arms are cool.

Hitmontop - mostly, see Machamp, except it's more of a defender, and is another pure Fighter.

Well, obviously there's loads I've missed and would mention if I could, but, if I did, it wouldn't become a discussion. (it still might not, I'll play the waiting game...)

 

[Strawberry.]

Overrated

Charizard - Pikachu - et cetera. ;257; ;025; ;350; ;151; ;006;

Yeah, people (FAN BOYS/ GIRLS) loves these...can't imagine why? Go figure arsecake.

Underrated

Goldeen - Chansey. ;118; ;113;

Weak POKéMON? Non, I don't think so. Goldeen is stunning and Chansey is cute as hell.

Flibble hon, I feel ya. I've recently put a Dewgong on my XD team, and damn is she helpful.

Overrated:

Absol - everyone loves it, often for its "emo" image. However, it's not as bad as 'Zard...yet.

Charetard - Who saw this coming?

Kyogre/Groudon - They're fugly. That's right. F*CKING UGLY.

Blissey - Overrated and fugly too. Chansey is better.

Alakazam - Typhlosion used Earthquake! Alakazam fainted!

Metagross - It's boring, ugly, and overused.

Underrated

Typhlosion - Everyone passes her up for Blaziken or *sigh* Charizard. But she's well known to dominate the UU environment and hold her own in OU. Besides, she's got a great color scheme: steel blue, creamy yellow, and touches of red. Pulchrissima! (yes, I had to use Latin)

Mightyena - Poor thing is always passed up for Absol and *hiss* Linoone. She's got a poor attacking movepool, but learns good support moves like Taunt, Swagger, Poison Fang, and Yawn. And she looks awesome too.

Pidgeotto - I love him. He's so sexy and sporty <3

 

[Metal Force]

Overrated: charizard/pikachu/sceptile/blaziken..etc
Underrated: Electrode/Skitty...etc

 

[SHUCKLE MAN]

Overrated-Charizard, Shuckle, Deoxys-F
Underrated-Luvdisc (im being serious, it may not be that good, but it is a LOT better than Caterpie, Magikarp, Kakuna, etc. people just do not realize this), Umbreon, Relicanth, Aggron (to some extent), Ponyta (it has a higher stat total than Dugtrio!!!!, Ponyta thrashes everything in NFE and UE battles and Ponyta does a lot more than Delibird, Murkrow, Beautifly, Beedrill, etc.), Dragoniar, Shelgon, Lairon, Golbat, Seadra, Pupitar, Chansey, Sealeo, Trapinch (trapinch is awesome, base 100 attack!, great ability, it has the 2nd highest attack on level balance too) and Metang.

Oh yeah, Butterfree's underrated as well. People just don't realise how well it owns the early parts of RBY.

Flareon to me is also underrated, simply because he's the forgotten Eeveelution with a somewhat hindering stat arrangement. If he does get to attack though, man, he can do some damage on both fronts. He can't take a hit though, as is a characteristic of most Fire Pokemon.

Shuckle, now he is overrated. Nice defenses, REALLY nice defenses, but shame about everything else! No Speed is annoying, but not overly dangerous, but no offenses either? And, not to mention it's sucky HP almost completely destroys it's defensive capabilities. But no, people only look at it's amazing defenses. And Steels absolutely rape this.

However, Ledian isn't underrated. It's not underrated as well. It simply sucks ***. C'mon D/P, evolve the thing!

 

[Dark Pheonix]

Over rated - ledgendary dogs - good but not great
Under rated- Porygon

 

[The Benmeister]

Overatted...hmm...Charizard, Pikachu, Absol and Milotic among others.

And underused? Flareon and Vaporeon say hi.

 

[Selestius]

Underrated: Jumpluff. Fast as hell, and a decent Special Attack.

Butterfree: Good attacks, and has good strength. Gorebyss and Huntail. Flareon and Vaporeon.

 

[Komedic Konservationist]

Overrated: Charizard, for obvious reasons. However, I believe the n00b-fans, who are so hated here, are not fans at all, but merely bandwagon-jumpers and followers of fashion, who only like it because there friends do and because of over-showcasing. It should actually be ''False lovers of Charizard unite! [SPOIL]Over that cliff[/SPOIL]'' because actual lovers of Charizard are perfectly valid.
Underrated: Ursaring! This magnificent beast has incredible physical attack, plus a huge variety of physical moves to wield it with, and the Guts ability for boosting it's power in double battles. In the Colloseum instant battle mode, my rented Ursaring halved Regice's HP with a single Slash, which just proves how powerful it is. Toxic + Sword Dance + STABBed Return/Facade with leftovers attached is not a combo to be scoffed at either, and if played in the right situations can kill almost anything in just one hit. However, I'm glad it's so hated and unloved in a way, because there's something just too wonderful about Pokemon that are this underrated.

 

[Kabuto]

Overated- Charizard, Pikachu, Blastoise, Articuno, Rayquaza (in the uber metagame), Alakazam, Shuckle, Blissey

Underated- Venusaur, Houndoom, Poliwrath, Jumpluff, Sandslash, Gardevoir

 

[SHUCKLE MAN]

In the Colloseum instant battle mode, my rented Ursaring halved Regice's HP with a single Slash, which just proves how powerful it is. Toxic + Sword Dance + STABBed Return/Facade with leftovers attached is not a combo to be scoffed at either, and if played in the right situations can kill almost anything in just one hit. However, I'm glad it's so hated and unloved in a way, because there's something just too wonderful about Pokemon that are this underrated.

The rental Ursaring in Pokemon Collosseum was so awesome it was a bit of a joke sometimes. I absolutely thrashed hunter spez's team with the Ursaring and the Meganium. And the ursaring knows Brick break which does a whopping amount of damage to the rental regis and does a respectable amount to the SKarmory, Meganium, Cradily, Shuckle and the Umbreon too.

I just remembered someone else who is underrated...Kadabra!! Kadabra is almost as good as Alakazam!

Jumpluff definitely is underrated. It only really has Speed, but when you have a nasty arsenal of powders and Leech Seed, it can get quite frustrating to fight (and devilishly fun to use IMO). Both Polis are underrated as well, they have a nice well-roundedness to them.

Underrated:

Ledian. No, it's not bad. It's a great Pokémon, but no one even gives it a chance. Excellent BPer, and it takes [non-SE] Special blows like nothing. Base 125 Sp. Defense is hardly what I'd call bad, especially as MILOTIC'S Base Sp. Defense is the same

Flareon. One of the easiest-to-use Eeveelutions, and one of the few usable Fire Types. So why isn't it used more?

Poliwrath: Unique Type combo, good movepool, and well-balanced Stats. Plus it's my third favorite Pokémon

Overrated:

Charizard(Norly?). While there are certainly respectable fans out there(Zennou Ryuu, Chibi Pika, Umbrazard, and Dragonfree, to name a few), the vast majority of the fanbase is composed of neanderthals who lap up Nintendo's marketing tool like kittens to milk.

Shuckle. No, it's not the best Wall to ever exist. Highest Defenses in the game means nothing if you have nearly the worst HP to go along with it. That's not even mentioning its nonexistant movepool and horrendous Offenses and Speed.

Kingdra. One weakness. Yeah, that's really something. Too bad every Electric Type, every Normal Type, Forretress, and Scizor did it first and did it better

Umbreon: It's definitely more usable than the above three. But that doesn't mean it's safe from nubes and their red-and-black fetish. Umbreon's durable enough, but it's just as counterable as any other Pokémon. On top of that, its Offenses are terrible, and its Offensive movepool is terrible to go along with its Stats. Good defensive movepool indeed. Shame Heracross ruins Umbreon completely in the time it takes to exhale ._. Again, there are respectable Umbreon fans out there(Yhalothar AJ Flibble 8D), but it's really sad to see a fairly decent Pokémon being degraded by the innumerable nubes out there that think Toxic/Double Team/Mean Look/Faint Attack is the ideal Umbreon >>;;

It's spelt n00b/noob, not nube. If you spell it that way, people are going to get confused.
Another of my underrated loves is Mantine. Everyone shuns it because of it's 4x weakness to Electricity, while overlooking the fact that it's huge special defence and large movepool almost completely negate this factor.

Overated↓

Charizard: I need to explain?

Pikachu: (look Charizard)

Absol: The "emo" looking makes everyone love it... but it´s terrible...

Scyter: I can´t explain very well, but I know it´s overated

Kingdra: The single weakness to dragon makes some people forget about electrics ;_;

Schuckle: OHHHH highest defenses! MUST USE IT! *opponent uses seismic toss* OHKO! lol!

Underated↓

Mantine: The only Pokémon I know that can resist a STABed 4x weakness.

Jumpluf: Again the 4x weakness problem, but it´s the fastest pokémon we can have if sunnyday is in effect (IIRC 220 base speed ) Ton of good moves subseed and solarbem great battler!

Politoed: It has nice stats and can battle very well, water absorb is handy and so does damp (lol at exploding CBgross)

Ursaring: I´m liking it, KomedicK. made me like it It´s a great battler in double battles, along with swellow it´s the best Facade user, but I don´t know why people like other pokés...

Porygon2: This is just a guess. I think Porygon2 is underated due to the lack in speed. Just a thunder wave solves the problem, but people forget about it and look for charizards.

[Aptenodytes]

Overrated: Charizard, Absol, Scizor
Underrated: Marowak (kind of), Gligar, Dunsparce.

Ledian's got crap offenses though, and looks very irritating to me.

Also, Scyther. He's cool, but he's got a rather n00by fanbase too.
Cacturne's getting overrated, as much as I love him, because he's Harley's signature Pokemon and EVERYONE (I MEAN EVERYONE) loves Harley ._.

Cacturne does look freaking awesome though.

I might like to add that Mantine is also underrated, and many other Waters out there actually. Dewgong, Mantine, Politoed, Poliwrath, Feraligatr, Octillery (in particular, he's awesome!) are all underrated and not bad.

Victreebel's underrated as well. Gengar's SLIGHTLY overrated, but he's still good and his unpredictablilty is his best factor IMO.

 

[Grass Guardian]

Over Rated:
Charizard: Although, his fan base has died down quite a bit.
Milotic: I really don’t see what’s so great about this pokemon.
Absol: Sure it can attack with a lot of power, but, “Oh no! Here comes a Brick Break!” No more Absol

Under Rated:
Kingdra : Yes, Kingdra! I see more people on these boards bashing this pokemon then anyone “glorifying” it. Also, rarely do I encounter one on net battle, either. This pokemon served me very well in the battle Frontier especially in the Battle Dome and Battle Tower. It's got stabbed dragon breath, which can do a considerable amount of damage and can also paralyze. At least this pokemon can use a move to knock out its one weakness, I.E, Ice Beam. Bye-Bye Salamence, Dragonite, and Flygon.

Skitty: Skitty is actually pretty awesome. The one on my emerald game defeated Norman's Slaking and won me the badge without me giving her any healing items at all. Of course, I did luck out quite a bit with all the times Slaking was "immobilized by love." But just think how embarrassing it would be for a grown man (Norman) to lose his strongest pokemon and the whole battle to his 10-year-old daughter's tiny, adorable, little Skitty.

Torkoal: I see more Charizards, Ninetales, Houndooms, and Flareons on Net Battle then this tanking turtle. Actually, I think Torkoal is the best fire type you can get next to Arcanine and, I guess, Ho-oh. I just tried this little guy out on my emerald team for the first time and so far it's serving me very well. Hits just bounce right off him. It's awesome. We finally get a fire type that can take a hit and it's overshadowed by Charizard and Ninetales. -.-

Edit: Nidoking: How could I forget him? Stabbed Sludge Bomb and Earth Quake anyone?
